This gen gets its first decent jrpg and its taken 3 1/2 years 4 if you count the 360 shelf life
Zaibach
I hope this game influences other deveopers and raises the standars of gamers beause this is the first game that made me value my PS3 and look foward to the future of games this gen.
I was under the impression and had started to believe I didn't like games anymore and not MGS4, not Killzone2, not Uncharted, Not even Crysis/warhead made much diffrence...but Demon's Soul's made meEXCITEDto game again. I hope this title becomes a block buster to shut down all the so-called "great" game developers making crap games todayso we can really start having great games made this gen.

I hope it's as good as you are hyping it.Heads up people. this game is nothing like Fable or Oblivion.
If you're going to compare it to anything it's a dark and moody version of Monster hunter.
oh and it's awesome.
Meh...kinda overrated. Cookigaki would give Demon Souls AN AA instead of an AAA, it's a great game and all, better than fable and zelda in cookigaki unbiased opinion, it's just not casual friendly.Cookigaki
True...but we're the people who come on a game fourm (system wars) to argue about games. If we can't appreciate this game then no one will.
I guess I'm a hardcore gamer at heart because most AAA games this gen are just lame to me and AA or A at best IMO, but even tho Demon's Soul's hands me ass to me at times it's actually the most fun I've had this gen. And the difficulty is acutally rewarding as apposed to stupid and cheap and unfulfilling like what I fell when I play games like Ninja Gaiden (and many other games).

BTW: I never expected Demon's Soul's to be this good I was just hoping for a decent game, I only bought it becaue of all the other gamers who had already imported the game and raved over how it was one of the best games this gen even tho they paid those rediclious import fees--I said it must be something good about it. I said WTH it can't be worse than all the other over-hyped crap that's on the market and atleast this praise is comming from honest gamers who spent their own money and are giving their true opinons and not some paid journalists who who would write a good article on a game just because it's high profile.

I'm still holding out for an EU release, but will likely import it if there's no EU announcement by the end of the year. Given its supposed online-play localisation I wouldn't want to jump the gun and miss the chance to play online with my friends in the UK.

In Cookigaki reality - everything works like kung pao chicken, there is no error.
you must not play many games this gen.Easily, it's one of the best games ever made.
It's the best game this gen without question and up there with some of the greatest titles ever made like Mario Bro, Shenmue, MGS 1,2, 3, FF7, Panzer Dragoon II Zwei, Grandia II, Flash back, Donky Kong Countryetc. And since no other games from this gen are evenapproaching those games, that's pretty high praise comming from me.
When I played Demon's Soul's I made this personal comment to myself, "fianally a game that validates the creation of these next generation systems"

thats bad.. i hope a patch eventuallygets released fixing that... i would like playing the game with friends first..
I admit wasnt interested in the game until a month ago, seems like i'll hate to get the game afterall :)
It's not a problem to need fixing (your thinking is wrong)as it was an intentional implamentation of the game. This isn't COD or Halo3 if you're playing Demon's Soul's...and That's what you'll get.
The developers INTENDED for it to be like this (to create the feeling of being alone amoung annonamous dead souls) and it dosen't need "fixing". At first when I played the game I thought alot of things needed fixing...then I realized that for a game to be this awsomely crafted the developers couldn't have NOT known about the simple things that I thought needed "fixing". In the end I realize that everything they did was to create the unmistakable world that is Demon's Soul's.
Asking them to change it now or add to it to fit your own prefrences is a slap in the face to all they have done to craft this game to become what it is.
BTW
(that's the problem with gamers today and why Im glad this game was low key so they didn't to gamers who have these "ideas" of how a game "should" be influence the develpers. that's the problem with most high profile games today they (developers)are under pressure to gave fans what they think they want and end up compromising their creativity and end up giving fansthe same ol run of the mil crap that we gamers are used to seeing today. I'm glad Demon's Soul's was under the radar because other wise it might not be what it is today.)
I agree, thats awesome online mechanics. So i cannot play online with the imported version, unless i'm in asia?? :Syou can play online with the import. But it is said that you will only be able to play with the other people with the import version. I guess that means the US release will come with its own servers.I agree, thats awesome online mechanics. So i cannot play online with the imported version, unless i'm in asia?? :SLookAnDrolL

nope. the North American version of the game gets its own servers i believe. and it will be region-locked. but if you imported the Chinese, Japanese, or Korean version of the game, you can play with any of those regions (but not the North American servers). so yea...and surprisingly, there were TONS in the asian servers who imported the game, and don't underestimate the Asian guys aswell. i don't know if they will lower the difficulty level on the NA version. simply because almost all Japanese hardcore titles have their difficulties lowered when releasing to NA or Europe. so sad, really. i hope Atlus doesn't do this. it's fine as it is. this isn't a game for some kid who wants to breeze throught the whole game knocking everything that moves.
Somewhere I was reading they dont allow you to play co-op with friends, which is ridiculous. Is this true?
So many good games coming out this year, but I may squeak this one in. But the million of hours of play time doesnt really excite me that much. I dont have that much time.

if you don't have much time then don't play it. it's not supposed to be an online game. it's supposed to be a deep single-player game with some co-op. you can play with friends. but most likely you won't since as i said, players jsut randomly go in and go out of your worl to help you. they can go out of co=op anytime theywant. no loading or menu. so it's like while you're playing a game someone wants to join you then that's it they join you just like that. and if they get tired they can pretty much get out of your world and go to others' and you can do the same. as i've said its co-op is intended to be with random people. why? because at the end of the day the 3 of you MUST use teamwork if you don't wanna die all. that's all there is to it.
honestly. I played through the entire game without ever using the co-op feature at all. The game is really a single player experiance.if you don't have much time then don't play it. it's not supposed to be an online game. it's supposed to be a deep single-player game with some co-op. you can play with friends. but most likely you won't since as i said, players jsut randomly go in and go out of your worl to help you. they can go out of co=op anytime theywant. no loading or menu. so it's like while you're playing a game someone wants to join you then that's it they join you just like that. and if they get tired they can pretty much get out of your world and go to others' and you can do the same. as i've said its co-op is intended to be with random people. why? because at the end of the day the 3 of you MUST use teamwork if you don't wanna die all. that's all there is to it.

I'm gonna give it a try, but I have to really like the game mechanics if the game is going to be excessivly difficult and punishing. I'm not a fan on spending cash on a game that punishes you. I don't mind a challenge, but I hate unfair games with ridiculous difficulty spikes.
From the review: "Atlus and From Software’s Demon’s Souls has effectively redefined the term “difficult game” into something much more favorable than what we’re currently used to. There is so much freedom and underlying strategy involved in Demon’s Souls that every time you die, you’ll feel like it’s your own fault. Read on for our review of Demon’s Souls, and learn how to channel your inner masochist." At least it's damn fair.I'm gonna give it a try, but I have to really like the game mechanics if the game is going to be excessivly difficult and punishing. lol it will be frustrating at first (or maybe all throughout) but it's not cheap. it's not like it's unbeatable. you just have to havee patience and know what you're doing. practice makes perfect, so they say. it will be punishing, i'll tell you that right now. but given lots of practice, you will be able to beat it. and with practice i'm not saying 3 or 4 tries. you will have to die lots of time in this game. and re-try a level lots of times. BUT it doesn't mean it's ghouls and goblins. not THAT hard lol.

As long as it's fair, I'm cool with the difficulty. I loved Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox and a lot of people complained about the difficulty on that game. But I felt like such a badass that it never felt cheap to me, unlike the sequel. That game is cheap as hell. There is so much freedom and underlying strategy involved in Demon's Souls that every time you die, you'll feel like it's your own fault. I like that. I hope it's true. Yeah, it's nothing like "nearly invincible enemy with unblockable attack that kills you in one hit appears" :P[QUOTE="aaronmullan"][QUOTE="heretrix"]

It's already out and fully voiced in English. You just have to import it.

Yeah, but you can't play with localization users on the Asian version.
You don't get to choose who you play with and there's no voice chat for the game US version will be with NA servers only, u can't play with the other versions if u wanted to.I know alot of people are going to buy this so thanks advance. But more than half will quit playing it on day one. Especially if your used to games on the Wii. They don't make games like this anymore and you won't get instant rewards for turning on the game or killing 20 enemy's for an achievement. Good Luck!
me too i found oblivion to be very boring.......plus demon's souls looks really good and is getting alot of good reviews :Doblivion .. i cant stick to that game and the action looks like theydont havea flow... demon's souls looks more difficult and therealtime battle action rpg looks more structured i would buy demon's souls over oblivion and fallout 3

You don't get to choose who you play with and there's no voice chat for the game thats what im hoping they add to the NA version tho.Wow, This game wasn't on my radar at all until I clicked this thread. I've read 4 reviews and think I may finally have to get a PS3 for this game alone. My only problem is that nothing else for the system really interests me, except maybe Heavy Rain and GoW3. This game looks fantastic though...
Trust me...When you buy a system that you think only has "one" game for you. You end up getting more and loving it :). you don't pick who you play with directly off of your friends list, but random people don't join your game to co-op, only to kill you. The Co-Op soul signs will be on the ground at the beginning by each archstone and when you click on one, it gives the username and the stats. So you can sync it up easily to play with some friends via ps3, or you can just pick a random. You can co-op with up to 3 people as well.
so........ your saying i can play with my friends , right ?yes but you also have to be within 10 levels (or 15 depending on how high of a level you are) to play with that person. You can only co-op and pvp with people + or - 10 levels. sorry it took me so long to reply but this thread JUST showed up in my recent threads along with many others that haven't over the past 3-4 days.
I really like the game, but it's very punishing. It does reward you for succeeding though, which keeps you coming back for more. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people just won't have patience for the game. You need to be prepared to die a LOT. This game sorta feels like an old school game that doesn't hold you hand at all. With Demon's Souls, I would highly recommend picking up the strategy guide, it's worth it.Do any of you guys have it? I enjoy games like Oblivion. Will I like this game? :P
IlovemyAbs
It looks and sounds pretty good...but no EU version? I can only shake my head in disgust, just the kind of game ps3 was lacking and they go all evil stepmom on it.ManicAceNo worries, there's no region locking on PS3 of course, so you just need to import the Chinese/English version and you're all set.
Its supposed to be extremely difficult, so I guess it makes sense that it would be PS3 exclusive- they got the skillz2 pay da billz.
No I'm kidding of course, but someone will inevitably misinterpret that and flame me.
