@mems_1224: Going out on a limb here, but I think it's bullshot photo mode.
And again, every screenshot you posted isn't actual gameplay and still looks blurry. Find a new hobby.
It's cute how the original screenshot in the TC's post is in 3084x1080p, even though the game is only 1920x800 in reality. Nice bullshot, well besides the obvious terrible looking geometry.
The TC did a fine job at proving that The Order looks great when objects are right in your face, though everything that's 10 feet away looks like total shit, no wonder the devs hit that ugly mess behind DOF and other effects.
Nothing is blurry when you turn the DOF off.
Hermits are so busted this time!
This time? So you finally acknowledge that you didn't bust hermits the last 1000 times that you tried?
Finally.
I would love to know how many of the people slagging The Order off have actually seen and played the game in person?

Ahahahaha!!! Fucking owned.
I bought The Order 1886 for 10 bucks two weeks ago. The animation, presentation and visual quality are all top notch but the blur is just exaggerated. It's very difficult to properly see things a couple of feet away from you. They're hidden behind a strange wall of fog. It's really odd.
@gpuking Why are there so many jaggies in the last screenshots you posted? They also look freaking terrible. The game looks a lot better than that.
This game doesn't qualify for Graphics King because it cuts off 25% of the screen to achieve it's visual quality.
What's next for PS exclusives, cutting off 40% or 50% of the screen to achieve even better graphics??
Sorry but that's Lame as hell. People aren't paying big money for their TV's so that devs can cut off 25% of the screen.
It is no news that pride hurt hermits and lems are conjuring up BS about how the assets in The Order are low quality and hiding behind the depth of field. it is time to clear this up once and for all that the asset quality is in fact of the highest quality in raw polycount, shader treatment, texture res and AA.
Everything ranges from character models to props, to buildings are of pristine quality not seen in other games. It is truly a blasphemy hermits would use the depth of field excuse to downplay it. Of course I'm not saying it's without any fault, any game has faults but to suggest the game uses blurs to cover up anything is just plain dumb and ignorant.
Perhaps, it's that mist not in the proper distance coupled with soft edges and somewhat washed-out colors.
SW: B also has mist. But, it's farther away where it should be. The edges are also sharper, making for better viewing.
So I've just been playing this game and had a play around with photo mode.
There is blur, pick an object and slowly move towards it at you'll see it gets blurry when you get closer.
In my case I picked a tea trolley, from around 1 to 1.5 metres away it was sharp and clear, but as I got to around 0.5 metres away it all of a sudden got a lot blurrier. I have no idea why the developers would have such an aggressive DOF as the underlying object quality is amazing.
I looked at a random lamp hanging from the ceiling and it was insanely detailed, even to the point where you could see the solder on the joints.
In photo mode I completely disabled film grain and took the focal point for DOF as far out as possible, this slightly improved things but there's still some blur, I feel that it's due to using 4xMSAA as I've played games on my PC that became blurry when MSAA was used.
I can't help but feel that dropping the 4xMSAA and moving to a full 1920x1080 with a quality post AA would be better.
I've done these 2 shots, one is of gameplay with the normal DOF and the other is on photo mode with the DOF distanced pushed all the way back, best way to spot it is in the top left corner there a sign with 'B2' written on it, that sign and the circle girder that's next it to shows the best difference.
They were uploaded at 1920x1080 so if you open full screen it should be fine.
In the first picture you can barley make out the guy's face to the right and he's not far away. In the lower picture the details are all blurred out in the ceiling light that is farthest away and on the other side there's a vase with pink flowers (still pretty close) that is blurry as hell. Also there is no hud in the pictures, could be downsized bullshots.
The Order has really poor lod distance but at least the lod transitions work fairly well.
Using the old "if i keep saying it enough some of the **** will stick" technique? Fight the good fight TC. At least the *ahem* alt believed you.

again, the majority of the softness is from temporal AA. enable TAA in battlefront and youll see what real blur is. battlefront is a shimmery mess, every god damned edge and surface shimmers like hell the second you move. go see how blurry the TAA in battlefront is and youll realize how reasonable the order is.
whatever the hermits say there is no denying that the order 1886 has the best graphics up to date.
till now in terms of graphics
the order 1886>infamous ss>>>until dawn> killzone sf>ac unity.
Not even trying to hide an alt, Gpuking? Wow, you are truly a sad little man.
@soulitane: The harbor shot? How exactly is it bad? Everything looks so great it's almost like an oil painting.
I'm assuming you don't have eyes or something?
Look at anything that's not the water or sky. All the assets look like shit. There are shadows clearly missing. Basically it doesn't look good in the slightest. The other pictures of things close up look amazing. Looking at the distance does not.
Are you kidding me? Human eyes simply can't resolve that amount of tiny details in that distance so the LOD perfectly mimics what you see in real life, besides the shadow falloff distance in the game is all the way up to where the smokes are in the distance, that's impressive man.
There was a good paper I read on the clarity the human eye can detect, it was something in the realm of ~30 arc seconds. I believe the example they used was noticing the curve on a dime at a distance of 1km. Tiny, tiny amounts of detail.

Ahh, here it is, http://www.swift.ac.uk/about/files/vision.pdf
Super interesting stuff.
@m3dude1: So yeah you haven't played it on the PC because you don't know what you're talking about.
actually i have and im 100% correct. maybe your eye sight is just awful and you cant properly distinguish aliasing. even with youtubes awful compression masking the aliasing its incredibly visible.
Isn't the game merely filling like 60% of the screen though? :)
I think they did great job with it, but Order shows how weak PS4 truly is.
