Metroid Prime as generic as GoW? The games are different in almost every aspect. Just compare some screenshots of the two. Gears nails the whole post apocalyptic thing and Metroid nails the diverse alien landscapes. Personally I love Metroids style and level design, nothing touches it IMO. Gears has technical merit beyond compare. So Metroid easily beats Gears IMO.

Gritty sci-fi world with cavemen-like soldiers, or gritty sci-fi world with a few more colors...hmm...hard to chose...

And you're right, these are two different games, so theres no point in comparing them, considering their genre demands different level designs. Since MP is an adventure game thats more than worth the plastic its made with...it would obviously win in the level design department. I did not dispute this, why did you reply to my post?

I have to give you a round of applause for being one of the most logical and non-fanboy posters i've seen in SWs in months.

You're right. Gears is on another level technically speaking.

Metroid has more color, more diversity but it relies on it more.

Gears is designed for something else. Something it does well.
