Destiny 2 Announced

We knew it was happening, and now it has happened- Bungie and Activision have confirmed Destiny 2, the long expected, discussed, speculated about sequel to the original shared world shooter. Bungie confirmed Destiny 2 via a Twitter post, with some art and 'Destiny 2' splashed all over it.

As of right now, this is literally all that we have in the way of information- we don't know the release date (though we can speculate), we don't know the platforms (we can probably speculate on those, too), we don't know any details about the story or gameplay, and we have no official media- no trailers or screenshots.

That said, that information is probably forthcoming- for now, many fans are doubtless excited that Destiny 2 is a thing, and it's enough that it will be a substantial step up (hopefully) over the first game's unfulfilled promise.

Hope this one finds its way to PC and turns out to be a better game.

Most likely skipping this one, unless they make big changes. OG Destiny has probably been really boring since the last DLC was last September.

This is going to sound nuts but...I'm sorta hyped for this. Never played the first but I feel now they might get it right from the start after all that beta testing of part 1.

I put a ton of hours into the first one and I'm pretty sure I'll do the same with the sequel! Can't wait to find out more about it.

edit: Watching closely, the traveler is still there. But that makes no sense. In order for the City to be vulnerable the traveler shouldnt be there... weird. Very curious about this

I might check it out once it gets out of early access in 2 years but it will probably be shit like the first game.

Destiny story is a bit like Dark Souls i.e. it isnt told straight away to you but the lore is very rich if you read grimoire cards and loot descriptions

but yeah, a more visual story would be nice

I didn't play the first one given how much criticism it received. Granted I am willing to give both games a shot one day.

While we knew this was happening it's great that it's official now. Really looking forward to seeing more on this.

I still have the dlc for Destiny to go through, I was addicted to this game for a few months and got burned out by it, but I think it's a solid series and overall disagreed with the main criticisms levied against it. I dont go into this kind of game expecting heavy storytelling. This is akin to a Diablo fps for me.

So while I'm not a huge fan and wont really follow the progress of Destiny 2, its nice to see the sequel being announced and when time permits ill certainly look into it.

After spending a couple hundred hours in the first, I'm not very excited for this. My brother is hyped and will want someone to coop with but I'm not paying full price for it.

I'm down, interested to see how they build on the first iteration because - as the popular consensus perceives - it's needed to generate sincere interest in this franchise.

We bought ours full price during launch, we game share and I put in a bunch of time playing the first one. So I think I got my moneys worth with the time I spent with it. The story and characters are forgettable, I couldn't tell you who the main characters are and villains and what's the point of the game, but the co-op was pretty fun and I think the reason I put so much time on it was trying and grinding to get the best loot/weapons/gear.

Farming for the best loot was the only reason I kept on playing, not because of the story nor game modes, but after they nerfed farming spots I stopped playing. Not even the DLC could bring me back. I feel like online-centric games like Destiny and The Division just needs something more. I'm not excited there will be a new one but I am interested what the game will offer that makes it better than the first.

If it has a better story & is more fun solo, I'll check it out.

As one poster said earlier, I will in all likelihood wait about two years before even considering getting this but I am 100% not jumping on it at launch like the idiot I was with the first.

Another generic MP game announce same year and release same year. while good games get announced and release 2 years after to put some development time instead of just sake of competition.

I'm hopeful. Halo 1 & 2 are some of my favorite games. The gunplay felt good in Destiny. The issues with launch Destiny was the absolute lack of anything to do. They made efforts to fix that by adding a proper quest log, dailys, and effectively putting a MMO coat of paint over the game. I believe Bungie has a solid idea as to how to make a great sequel and I will buy it.

I will think of it as just another DLC.

I still havent played the first.

I played the demo but then news came that it was just doing the same missions over and over for multiplayer so i never bought it.

Just bought the GOTY version to play through with my neighbor here in Germany

i might of bought the first one on PC but now that i know what this is....pass even if its on PC....

unless they make big changes.

I was gonna buy Destiny 2 anyways since I in fact like the first one and it had better gameplay then Halo 4/5 in my opinion. Me and Finalstar2007 are gonna have so much fun playing it!

Anyways, I have 0 hype for Destiny 2, I just don't find fps looters to be appealing at all cause why do I even care about getting loot that makes my character look like a bamf/deals god tier dmg when all I can see is my fraking hands. I really wish Destiny had a tps combat system instead of a fps, specially for raids.

I'll probably give the PC version a try. Apparently it's a far bigger game than the first one, they have an absurd number of people working on it, like 1000 or so.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for Destiny having a story, but I think it'd be great if they go with it.

I haven't even played the first Destiny yet. I'm a smidge behind the curve there but maybe Bungie can go back to their roots and lay off the grind/mmo esque mantra.

Maybe don't make it shit this time. Because for all the "the shooting engine is teh amazing", the actual gameplay is abysmal.

oh come on you guys destiny was not a bad game, and I'm sure there are a lot of die hard fans (I have friends in my friend list that played it all the time till not so long ago). But another one fall may flat with a lot people, we're not 2013-14 anymore.

I don't think that is true. It's the gameplay that made Destiny so great to to play in spite of it's many problems.

So do you think that they started work on the game the day they announced it.
