Destiny was a fun little game when you played it with a few buddies. Just make the endgame less boring and you'll have me interested.
I'm gonna wait for this one.
If this is something like WD2, which greatly improved compared to the 1st one, I might get this in the future.
OR wait 2 years and get the complete pack for less :P
Hope this one finds its way to PC and turns out to be a better game.
And while we're at it, can this one have an actual story?
Destiny story is a bit like Dark Souls i.e. it isnt told straight away to you but the lore is very rich if you read grimoire cards and loot descriptions
but yeah, a more visual story would be nice
Not is not. The story is not told at all in game. Period.
It... kinda is. Story =/= lore. Even though Destiny still has its story bits (told via dialogue and a couple of cutscenes) its true it develops at a very slow pace and that might be frustrating for some. But just like Dark Souls its story isnt really that important, its the lore that shines within its rich world. You can see many youtube videos on the matter. You would be impressed at how deep Destiny's lore can be
So the question is, how much did they learn from the first one?
Destiny 1 isn't a bad game, it was just disappointing and had a really funky progression loop. It's like they integrated a lot of unpopular parts of MMOs (rep grinds, material grinds) and implemented them as the focus on the content in the base game. The raids eventually mixed it up and the solo exploration play was kind of fun, but they never could really escape from their overall progression loops being very unfun.
The core gameplay loop was enjoyable. Shooting and movement were fantastic, enemies were generally enjoyable to fight, encounters were well crafted, all of those things that Bungie does well with core gameplay was there. However they became almost lazy or really rushed with the more linear mission structure often ending in the "hold your position" gameplay. Not enough boss fights when there should have been boss fights.
I think they have a lot of potential and realize that a mixture of flat out boring and poorly written linear story missions and a real lack of diverse "end-game" content in the base game was what really hurt the initial reception of the game. The expansions and patches did a great job of addressing these issues with fun new content and whatnot, but the game really still suffers from that progression loop issue. Looting is just not fun in Destiny nor is it really a means to any sort of ends. That's always going to be a problem when you combine traditional RPG statistics with FPS player skill. Striking that balance between feeling like your weapons are making the difference vs. just being a better player, is hard.
Teaser Trailer
More Cayde is always fun. So, so in for this.
Did my ears deceive me or does he sound like Nathan Fillion?
Just look at this trailer, they're going exactly where CoD been heading for a while. Remember when CoD had a serious tone? Look at the funky shit they include in every dlc. Same thing is happening with this. Looks like the kind of game that a fan of shitty movies such as Heroes of the Galaxy would enjoy. Ewwwwwwwwiie.
The PS4 is going to have exclusive DLC that is exclusive until at least fall 2018! That sucks, don't you hate this shit. I said the same thing when MS did it.
I heard a rumor that the Xbox version is going to have something exclusive too. That is Native 4k support on one of the Xbox versions! lol
Very cool teaser trailer can't wait to see the worldwide reveal trailer in a couple of days. Gettin' hyped.
@silversix_: It's a teaser trailer, Jesus Christ calm down already. I'm sure the overall tone will be more like the first game but with more personality and story hopefully.
See, i don't think that will be the case. From all of their dlc's, what is one of the things that was praised the most? Humor from the Taken Wallet "expansion". You'll be getting Heroes of the Galaxy generic humor, its guaranteed. Forget the serious tone. It'll be funky ass stupidity and big explosions. The foundation of Destiny 2. This stupid shit has already began long time ago.
I put up with the 30fps while I played Destiny, but the grind and lack of content made me hate the game after a while. I always said the only way I would consider going back to Destiny (regardless of patches and expansions) was if they made it for PC and it ran at 60fps or higher. That seems to be happening now with the sequel. So, I will wait and see how much potential there is.
@silversix_: So a little bit of much needed personality and emotes ruined the game and will ruin the sequel? Bwahahahahaha, thanks for the laugh.
No, what will ruin the sequel, just like the original, is Activision. You won't be laughing much when that happens.
