Destructoid gives FFXIII a 4/10

for those of you who dont know the person who wrote that review he is jim sterling, hes a proffesional troll for destructoid, he gave deadly premonition a ten, a game so bad its fun, and then went on to write an article about how its the best game ever, he writes things for shock value, there not meant to be taken seriously, like tabloid newspapers or fox news

Aside from the graphics and the excellent battle system, FFXIII has little going for it. The story is horrible, as is the writing.

FFXIII is just inconsistent. Overall good, but whenever Snowe comes into the picture BAD. Vanille and Fang also suffer when the game tries to take too many opportunities to hint at lesbianism and forgets that they're supposed to be real characters and not just sex objects. That's my take.

I still find it better than FFVI and FFIX overall. The flaws of FFXIII are just more pronounced because everything is fully voiced an in full on HD cutscenes.

Edit: FFXIII is like FFVIII. Better Japanese script than English script.

I'm surprised at how much I like Vanille. I went into this game expecting to hate her so much after hearing everyone else, but I quite like her. The only thing that bothers me about her is those constant moaning sounds whenever she's doing something, like yawning or even moving.

Hope on the other hand, annoys me so much. The whole self pity attitude he has and the way he feels abot Snow is so annoying. He has gotten better as the game has gone on, but so far, he is the least likeable character imo.

So far, I would say that FFXIII is no less of a "good story" than MGS4. Of course, I need to complete MGS4 still, but even in the context of the rest of the series I wouldn't say that FFXIII is any less of a plot than MGS2 and in some ways exceeds it.

I've heard that the VA is a comedian and she made the noises for Vanille like that because she thought that they were funny.

Several parts? One specifically on the airship another with their "hug" ... uggh. I think the biggest problem with FFXIII isn't the story itself, but the actual direction of the cutscenes. I understand why many are dissapointed. If it wasn't for the excellent combat, the second and third best characters to grace FF (Lightning,Sazh) I'd be inclined to agree.

nvm...I just assumed you were serious or something, I read that, then read your translation...and had no problem at all understanding the original it didn't contain any thing that didn't actually mean something every thing said was a more potent and severe way to say something...

Next time If your going to claim they are fluffing the story actually make sure they are, because what they said was easily understandable but was simply a more sevre way to say it then your simple version.

And how is that??? The part when they said that it is "eye candy"??? How does that give insight to a game. Or what about them saying that it was a "dull, dreary affair". See what I can clearly see is a hypocritical review that doesnt make any sense whatsoever. 1st of all, almost everyone can agree that this is a very exciting action oriented game, so for them to call it "eye candy", and then call it "dull" is not only contradictory of the review, but they never brought this "revelation" up with all of the other games too.

Point blank, the review was a contradictory piece of crap only done for shock value.

Either way, something about FFXIII definitely got wrecked, critically that is. Something is different about FFXIII, and it has costed the FF franchise some crazy reviews. I can't recall what's different about FFXIII, but something has affected it's critical status. Before this review, it was the lowest rated FF ever at Metacritic for instance. Something is off about the latest FF with critics, that's for sure. Perhaps the multiplatform design which also included a design to appeal to westerners?

I can't put my finger on what's different though...

Well, it isn't a very good game by any means (IMO). It's just a good game.

HOWEVER, it's at least worth a 7/10 by the production values alone! The story really isn't half-bad either!

He didn't like it. It's an FF game, someone's gonna weep. That said, Jim Sterling loves to push fanboy buttons. I think he enjoys it and some of the results are HILARIOUS. That said, people should take it with a grain of salt.
