How is it so close? This game should be AAA easy. Don't be scared of the flop

I smell 8.0 all over this one... but my interest has been going up quite significantly for some reason. Never really played the original or its sequel, but I love the look of this game, and the idea that I can go through the entire game without killing anyone really appeals to me. It was one of the things I loved about Mirror's Edge. This seems like one of those stylish games that is going to be a defining point of the generation, even though it isn't a AAA blockbuster.foxhound_fox
._____.
The only people you'll be killing are the bosses. Seems like you can't just beat the bosses by stamina killing ala MGS 4.
Still need to play Mirror's Edge... *looks at shame pile*._____.fend_oblivion

I was shocked about the game's length too. I'm glad I told my bro to pre-order the Augmented Edition for me :)
The art styl e of the game is truly brilliant because it really matches with the themes (transhumanization, revolution, evolution, the whole Renaissance revisited thing) of the game. It reminds of the scene in Equilibrium where Christian Bale looks out of the window and sees the sun and appreciates its beauty. Anyways, the art ****and the color palette is much better than the standard palettes we see these days.
People complained about the gun play but it turns out Eidos really upped the ante with this one in terms of fluidity and feel. The augmentations are crazy awesome too. The augmentations for the legs gets rid of sound produced by walking/running so it's definitely gonna be perfect for stealth gamers. The trigger happy crowd can always go for the armor augmentations as they give new abilities (including that Icarus stomp attack seen in the Revenge trailer) and also the Typhoon (which is basically insta-death to normal soldiers) :D
Another great thing about DE : HR is the hacking mini-game. It's fun to play not like the cheap hacking game in Bioshock. If you go to the Sariff Industries website (best.marketting.ever.), you can play the hacking mini-game to check out new designs that fleshes out the backstory of DE : HR.
Also, DE : HR supports DX 11 tesselation. The leaked beta build had placeover graphics and textures so you can expect the final product to look really good. Personally speaking, for a game that is pseudo open world, I think the graphics are phenomenal. They are crisp, clean and definitely oozing with creative design.
OK I've played the leak and I have to say, in my mind it's definitely a solid AAA. But for some reason reviewers of this day and age might not give it an AAA. Still, I'm pretty sure any decent and recognised reviewer would have played the original, and see how DE3 still resembles and builds on the first.
Come on people, this game easily deserves an AAA hype. Just click through the links in the OP, and read the FAQ.khoofia_pikaYeah... this one has 8.0 written all over it. And given inFamous 2's 7.5, I can see it dropping even lower. Mirror's Edge was an absolutely fantastic and ground-breaking game, and it only scored 7.0 here. This kind of game is very similar and could go either way quite easily.
TC, be funny: delete the poll and start again.
Still say AA, with a few issues here and there; but regardless of the AA score, the fanbase will be relieved nonetheless.T

[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="ReddestSkies"]Oh come now, it still wasn't half as bad as some people make it out to be. It was... it really, really was *shudder*Considering that IW was a pioneer in consolized garbage, I'm still skeptical about this one.

I just beat the original last week. Still holds up... in fact it's better than most current gen games, at least conceptually.
I am currently abandoning my Invisible Wars playthrough, however. It takes about 2 minutes to load new areas, and the areas aren't big. The augs are handled poorly and the gunplay is barely functional. I don't remember it being this bad.

Deus Ex is a legendary game, I can play it millions of times and not get bored. I still love it. It's a timeless game, as you implied. And yeah, IW was horrendous. Worst sequel ever. Human Revolution looks great, though. I hope it does the original DX justice. So the hype's AA again now? :lol:charizard1605Yeah... I should probably delete the poll and put up a new one, as someone suggested a few posts ago :P

This kind of game is very similar and could go either way quite easily. The only thing it seems to be missing to be perfect is good graphics, it has the same type of re-playability of ME2, assuming the choices pan out half as well, and they look like they do so better. And the gameplay is diverse, more so than ME.
Mirror's Edge, while amazing from immersion, is just a linear one trick pony, that I hope get's a sequel in some way, that only resembles the immersion and movement of Mirror's Edge, not the story or linearity and one trick ponyishness.
And Infamous just looks, simplistic gameplay, shoddy animations here and there, and it looks shallow in general.
I think it has AAA written all over it. If they got the graphics{imagine it with Samaritan graphics /dies} (which could positively effect gameplay, with shadows and stealth) then I'd actually be pushing a AAAA on the damn thing.
Well after finishing the leak, there's no way it can be an AA. Seeing as TW2 has already gotten AAA, an RPG/Everything like this can only get better. ocstewHey, The Witcher 2 deserved that AAA. Haven't played it myself, is it better than The Witcher 2?
The more I hear about this the more I can't wait. I'm calling 9.0 here. I've barely heard any complaints about the leak at all. This is a pleasant surprise, I wasn't expecting this to be good, much less great.
EDIT: I'd like to read your impressions ocstew but your blog is set to private. :?

GeneralShowzerHey, The Witcher 2 deserved that AAA. Haven't played it myself, is it better than The Witcher 2? Exactly, if TW2 deserved an AAA then DX3 should too. And I can't really say if its better, since they're so different, but generally you should love it. I can't express how dynamic and open ended the gameplay is in DX3. FPS, RPG, TPS, all in one package. And to top that off stealth, hacking, brilliant augmentations....etc. I don't think any game, regardless of how good it is should be hyped too much. But it resembles the first and with a whole lot more added on.

It's going to score AAA. RPG of the year, maybe.GeneralShowzerThey took out the RPG parts of the original and basically added a sub-augmentation. So you won't be able to effect stats, but you will have a highly customized character. Seems more like an action game than an RPG from what I've read. Which is fine, I guess.

ERROR.
BEEP BEEP BEEP.

But seriously, this game looks too awesome to get anything below AAA.
Oh, and look at the hype. 82 votes to 82 votes

These damned purists. They are like ghosts, hiding behind proxy soldiers...
Cautious AAA. It could easily have gigantic flaws in the 2/3 of the game nobody's played. I'm ecstatic to see there aren't any major problems in the first third, but I remain skeptical. I want the game to be AAA, so I will vote AAA!
So where the heck is all the DX: HR coverage at E3? I haven't seen any on G4 for two days now, barely a mention and no in-depth look. Adam Sessler's red pants kick @$$ though.
