It doesn't matter if devs like the PS3 or not. If it gets the userbase of PS2 they'll be working on it like there be no tommorow. Userbase talks, not difficulty.

Yes... thats right. IF it gets the userbase... But so far... it seems that no one really wants it. their going to wii, or 360 cause they see awesome games coming out for them. while ps3... well.. not so sure about that one.
What you aren't mentioning though is that those PS3 units are sitting in warehouses unplayed. Sony sold them to retailers to help public perception of their console. Same thing happened with the 360 after it's 1st year... they sold tons of units to retailers to meet their goal of 10 million in the 1st year, but those sales were illusory, and didn't really help anybody except those who are fond of quoting NPDs.[QUOTE="knufsed"]
No one's mentioning that the sale numbers for the 360 has slowed down.
The last time I checked the numbers, PS3 has out sold the 360 this year so far by about 1 million.
So, the PS3 can sell at pretty much the same rate, while the 360 slows, and will eventually catch and pass the 360.

This is true. I wonder what the correct numbers (for all three consoles) really are.
But there are a couple of indicators that might give us a clue:
1) The Wii is always hard to find. Nintendo is selling consoles.
2). The software sale numbers for the 360 is also a good indicator that MS is selling consoles.
NPD numbers give you the numbers of consoles that were actually sold to consumers.
Sony, like you mentioned, might be selling consoles that sit in warehouses. The ones that are actually in homes might be used primarily as movie players (sold to HD fanatics and not to gamers). This might be good news for Blu-ray, but it is not great news for developers and gamers.

Yes the PS3 did outsell the 360 this year through September, however that is including the European launch. Launch periods are generally when systems post their best sales in the first few years. The fact that including the launch it beat the 360 by less then 1 million consoles is pathetic.
As for 360 sales slowing, sorry, but since August the 360's sales have been steadily rising while PS3 sales have dropped. With the huge sales jump in September (outselling the PS3 inNA alone byroughly 400,000)and equally impressive sales expected when October sales post, the 360 will havegreatly diminishedthat sub 1 million sales gap that the PS3 briefly enjoyed.
With November and December being months the 360 has typically sold one million plus consoles, it's fairly obvious system sales will end this year with the Wii leading the pack, the 360 in second and the PS3 bringing up the rear.
