I am as genuine as you will find on this forum. I consider myself 100.2% Cow. Only have a pc so i can annoy hermits with inferior pc's.

Nah, the problem you have is that you on occasion criticise Sony, that automatically disqualifies you. Guys like solid who will never criticise Sony are 110% pure cow.

Let me tell you something. I am a cow with incredibly high standards. When a cow ascends, standards skyrocket, and when this happens, you have no choice but to criticize trash, be it from Sony, or someone else. The only level above an Ascended Cow is the Matrix, a Matrix Cow to be exact, and they're so rare that we simply have never had one on SW. Don't ask me the difference because i myself have no idea, they're too rare. Rumors say that their Cow Levels are approaching 170%. Can you imagine that?

Drunk posting again I see.

Pray to never in your life encounter a Matrix Cow.

@dabear: I've always said wenzen is like a lem plant to make cows look bad, i'm starting to think you're a cow plant to make lems look bad.

Rare while not the same as when MS bought them as a lot of the talent left, have shit the bed on games. SoT was bare bones when it released, and they have made nothing since except righting the ship (pun intended) SoT ever since, and wasn't even present at MS E3 show, so they have nothing to show for god knows who's when.

Rare have fallen off the cliff.

You've been on these forums what, two months? You've been a member of these forums since 2023. LMAO@U.

For the record, the Monkey Island DLC launched 3 months ago - and was announced during MS's showcase in 2022. Second, "A Pirate's Life", the DLC with the Pirates of the Caribbean tie in, was released in 2021.

Just because a studio doesn't have something new every fricken year does not mean "it's dead".

You failed miserably in every comment you made.

Everyone but you doesn't seem to be in the know when it comes to me or Rare for that matter.

Now Rare made SoT in 2018 (5yrs ago) since then they've made that short Battletoads game and Everwild was announced in 2019 with a trailer at MS E3 show in 2020, 3yrs later there has not been anything else shown.

No one is asking for something new "every friggin year" but going silent on the game for 3yrs means there has to have been a redesign or something.

SoT content is basically nothing. It's been 5yrs, time to move onto something new.

Its ok to criticise MS, they're big boys and can handle it, the same goes for Sony and Nintendo. I'm just calling it the way I see it and the facts point to less & less Rare games over the past decade.

  • Naughty Dog has been silent on their next Last Of Us game since 2020. All they have released since 2020 is two remasters. Are they dead?
  • Sucker Punch has also not released anything since 2020. Are they dead?
  • Bungie hasn't released a new game, just season content for Destiny 2 since 2017. Are they dead?

WTF are you taking about? The content for SoT has been significant for multiple releases.

It's not "ok to criticize" when your criticism is based on false statements.

Again Rare released a trailer for Everwild in 2019, and NOTHING for the game in 4yrs. Yes they are making content for SoT and that's it at this point, and their games output has slowed to a trickle. That's not a false statement.

Rare had released at least one game every year from 1989-2008, from 2008-2023 there was no game releases in 09, 12, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and with nothing about Everwild you can count 24 also. Now it's the last decade they have fallen of a cliff. Those are facts, whether you want to believe them or stick your head in the sand is up to you.

@dabear: Where did I say that?

Rare released SoT in 2018 and announced Everwild in 2019. And Everwild has gone MIA, so won't be releasing next year and at this rate, maybe not until 2025 at the earliest. That would be 7yrs minimum between "full modetn day" releases. No one is expecting full AAA games every 2yrs (although T10 & Playground has done so) but not 7yrs between releases.

While they aren't dead, their gaming output basically is.

Let's look at Obsidian for instance, who have announced 3 games after the Announcement of Everwild, and has released 2 with the third one coming next year. That's pretty good output. At thus rate Obsidian will announce its next game before Everwild is out.

Like I said it's OK to criticise when the facts are on your side, it's just fanboy nonsense to defend then when their not.

Oh and I don't hate Rare, I'm just pointing out the facts.

@Pedro: You gotta be honest though, lots of games came and went during the N64/PS1 era - many forgotten - Rare games may have not aged favorably, but they are memorable for a reason and have their place in gaming history.

Plus besides, a modern Banjo-Threeie could be completely up to date to modern platforming standards. I feel like Banjo has the potential of being the most like Dark Souls for 3D platformers. Banjo-Tooie had the most interesting world connecting design, quest-like puzzles for collecting Jiggies, and more variety in how you collect your collectables in the game. I feel like modern Banjo could really expand and have it all interlinked. To me if well done it would be very popular.

I know Yooka-Laylee exists but I think it missed the charisma and character of the Banjo-Kazooie games that fans know and love, and I think it's just a missed opportunity to not revive this series.

So what? When is the last time you saw anything on the next Gears of War game, but it's still very much in production. Rare has released several big updates to Sea Of Thieves - it's a live service game. Therefore, not "dead".

By your logic, Zenimax Online Studios is "dead" because they haven't released a new game since ESO, which launched in 2014.

@dabear: Correct me if I'm wrong but MS hasn't announced a new Gears game, so not sure what you're point is there. And if Zeni hasn't made a game for 9yrs then yeah let's add them to the list.

Oh and by the way none of that changes the facts about Rare. No new game in 5yrs and Everwild had gone MIA. When it comes to games, their output is pretty much dead.

@last_lap: they announced it a while ago, with a statement that they were moving to UE 5, so the game won't be out for a while.

https://www.pcgamer.com/the-next-gears-of-war-will-run-on-unreal-engine-5-but-dont-expect-it-anytime-soon/

They released substantial dlc less than a year ago. Your point has zero merit.

Did you even read your own link?

Coalition statement reads...

“As we look to future games, we’re excited to start shifting our resources to next-gen development using Unreal Engine 5,” The Coalition’sannouncementreads. “Gears of War has always been at the front of Unreal Engine development–as a breakout 720p title forXbox360 through last year’s 120FPS multiplayer update for Xbox Series X|S–and we’re excited to continue that tradition by developing on UE5 for multiple new projects in the coming years.”

That's not an official announcement.

And dlc does NOT constitute a new AAA modern day game as you call it, the conversation was ALWAYS about new games, not dlc.

Anyway I can see this is going nowhere, so you can have the final say (not that it will matter)

For f**ks sake... Bro, I am done with your ridiculous replies. You are debating me from a position of significant weakness, and just keep replying with more and more ridiculous counter points.

A development studio can have "disappeared off the Earth" when they release (as GameSpot states) "significant content" for their live service as recently as a year ago.

While there is not an "official" statement unequivocally stating "Gears 6 is in active development", every statement from MS and the Coalition essentially state that.

Stop grasping at straws.
