to whom it may concern(cows):

fighting over the load times is a moot point...... the loss of HDD space is the real kicker.

deathtoallgods

The real kicker is for the Lems who don't have a HDD and do have the loading times.

That sucks for them, but seeing as most games have to load, they are used to it by now.

At least we have a system where we can just buy any off the shelf HDD. Space ISN'T as much of a concern as it is for the poor 360 players stuck with $100 20gb and $180 120gb drives.

True. But I don't understand why it is manditory to install 5 gbs of data on the PS3. It wouldn't be a problem at all if you could just choose to skip the whole process. plus its too much like a PC, except with less flexibility and smaller HDD. Consoles are consoles for a reason.

Yes I agree options are indeed very nice, Capcom did not give you or any PS3 owners the option however they took you hard drive by force (and with out lubrication :P). Capcom could have got around the bottle neck that is bluray as other devs have, they seem to have treated the PS3 as more of a port which is ironic considering the series origins.

The 360 version has amazingfly fast loading times aswell, so you've got 5GB eaten away for some pointless feature. Nice. And whats worse you want it for all PS3 games which funnily enough I can see happening. Talk about wasting space on a harddrive for a very minenute feature. So I guess thats 20GB if you want to play 4 games in the same week. And I thought the HDD was space ment for PSN downloadd and music/vids and stuff. Not useless features :| Cows have to constantly install and reinstall games now. Which will take 20 minutes each game. :S laughable at best. 5GB is alot of space you can fit tons of stuff on it, it not a matter of you having a big enough harddrive to support it. The fact thats it's just a waste of space plain and simple.

The controls on the 360 are also not as bad as cows make them out to be. It controls really well infact, and you get rumble right off the bat. Unless your willing to fork out money to import a DS3.

So have you seen the speed it loads on the 360 so you can compare it, or are you just supposing that because you had to install it that the 360 version has to be infinitely slower?

I'm pretty far into the game and I have yet to find a loading screen that lasted 10 seconds.

the bottle-neck which is blu-ray, ur such a fanboy...
more of a port? it began on the ps3 (well pc) but transferred to the ps3 first as seen in gameplay demos played at events, before they announced a 360 version...

There are still far too many loads in this game. There's like a short load from one linear room to the next in the PS3 version. Lame. Lazy current-gen devs.BioShockOwnz

I'm pretty sure that is the same way on the 360 version. I was playing it over my friend's house yesterday and it was loading room-to-room. :|

Ive played bother versions. The PS3 Versions dose load faster. But Ive yet to see a 360 loading screen last more than 6 seconds. Arguing about this these small loading time differences is pathetic.

You can thank the bottle-neck in the PS3 called, BluRay.MortalDecay

Listen kid taken this is a lesson from a hermit listen and you just might learn

DVD-9/DVD/CD read faster on the edges of a disc alright but they get very slow leaning inside

Blu-Ray on the other hand read the same all the way through

The bottle neck here is that the supposed DVD speed is taken from the outside of the disc not the inside so that is you bottle neck

I think what would have happened if they did not have the HDD cache is that the load times would be a bit more for the PS3 version. And they probably really did not want that. So they made the 5GB install mandatory to make the load times on the PS3 faster than the 360 version!

1 less second loads and 5gigs less HDD space FTW!!!

its more than 1 second.....and even with a 5GB loss...its still got more space than the 360 HD. Are you forgetting you console comes with a 20GB HD??? You dont even get a full 20GB to use....isnt it more like 16GB?

Even though I'm a big ps3 fan, I'm going to have to own you: On the 360, the slowest read speed for the DVD, even on the very center, is still about as fast if not faster than the 2X constant blu-ray read speed the ps3 has :\

installing helps. be glad it is there. Plus if it wasn't the loads would be 20x longer. Installs make it better then the 360 verison. But yeah, installs are a must anyways if you want loading thats not a minute long on the ps3...

BS. I tried the HDD install with Ninja Gaiden Sigma, then I deleted the install and the load times were basically the same...

yo i just got back from renting dmc 4 for 360 just to see the diffrence in loading after a install, the ps3 load time is roughly 15 seconds (i don't have a digital watch) and the 360 is about 25 some seconds. I just played the fight with dante at the begining on both to see an average of the load times. There isn't much of a diffrence even with the install :/ oh well 10 seconds is 10 seconds.

WWWOOOOO!!!!

Seriously, 2 seconds vs. 3-4 seconds in exchange for 20 minutes, if I were buying DMC4 I think I would go with the 360.

actually not that bad to be honest with you lol because I don't pay for it, I use the free cards they give out with some of their games. I bought DMC4 for the PS3 bty if anyone wants to know, I spent $85.19 for the damn collectors edition which wasnt even worth it. I just hate the fanboy wars that go on just game and stop complaining. I do own both of them so that could have something to do with the lack of hate for either.

EGM :

"PS3 loads 0-2 seconds some parts"

"360 loads 3-10 seconds same parts"

You :

Fail.

and you are without 5 gigs of space. Plus, the EGM isn't out here yet...... No subscription for me

That may be, as it is true about the 5 gigs, but the 1 second is a complete fabrication.

You see, there is always a flaw in the fanboy logic.

You keep the 5gig cutdown on the PS3, yet you minimize the loading prevented by the install. Yes, Mandatory 5 gig installs aren't cool, what it does for the actual game is cool.

Furthermore, if the 360 had a standard HDD, Capcom already stated they would have done a mandatory install for the 360 asa well.

Either way, know your facts before you randomly spout out fanboy drivel.

Assuming I am a fanboy = YOU FAIL.

The TC's post was borderline Fanboy and i retorted in kind.

Don't kid yourself fanboy.

If the average load time for the 360 is around 5 seconds, it would take around 240 different load times to equal the 20min wait required for the PS3 install. It doesnt seem like the few second change is really worth a 20min wait and loss of 5gb.

It's actually a much more significant difference than that. IGN said it was something like 33% to 50% faster than the 360 version. (six to ten seconds faster).

Thing is according to most people there hasn't been a ten second difference. Frankly I'd still rather have the 5GB of memory.

Trying to make it seem like 20min isnt much doesnt change the fact that you have to go threw it, making PS3s overall load times far beyond that of the 360s, as for the rest I wasn't trying to own anybody I'm not as immature to think its fun to run around saying I "owned" someone.

[QUOTE="jet052006"]If the average load time for the 360 is around 5 seconds, it would take around 240 different load times to equal the 20min wait required for the PS3 install. It doesnt seem like the few second change is really worth a 20min wait and loss of 5gb.jet052006

lol, omg are u using a 20 minute initial install, that i soo pathetic, even capcom was astonished by how retarded fanboys are
go make a sandwich... lol

Are you saying there isnt a 20min load time? because there has been several sites saying it took them 20mins to load and a report from Capcom saying:

Capcom community man Chris Kramer disagrees: "It's true: the first time you drop your DMC4 Blu-ray disc into your PS3 tray, you're going to be treated to an exciting 22 - 25 minute load process

omg,, 20 minutes, kill me.....
id rather u argue anout the 5gb install space, which frankly isint nothing cause most have 80gb or 60 to spare and if ur cramped for space, u can always delete demos or upgrade.
unlike core 360 owners who need to pay $100 for a 20gb hdd (which is mandatory to play online in many games)
glad i have an elite....

.... now thats ownage
trust me, u want it as ownage its really sad...

Coming from a guy who has played both final versions (gamefly is awesome) I can say that the PS3 version does load quit a bit faster than the 360 version.

A twenty minute install seems like a much larger hurdle than a ten second load (max), does it not?

That's the complaint. The average load on the 360 is (seemingly) 5 seconds, so it would have to load over 200 times to get to that twenty minutes.
