But it's teh casual, according to a lot of the community. I thought PC gamers only liked teh hardcorez and obscure games?
[QUOTE="Kickinurass"]Hype and advertising. It's the same reason the iPhone 4S was the fastest selling consumer device in memory, the same reason the Kinect sold 10 million in 60 days. That's amazing. Not interested in buying it myself, but damn. The game must be doing something right to hit 10 million in just three months.

Lol. Apparently so. This thread has attracted a lot of dissenters :P
I wonder if the game will have "legs," as games that tend to sell quickly in a short time tend to lose steam quickly, while those that sell slowly tend to have "legs" and sell well in the long term.

On consoles that may be somewhat true,on the PC they usually sell for extended periods of time.
And it´s a Blizzard game, the original Starcraft,Warcraft 3,Diablo 2 and WoW are very old now and they still sell quite a bit, while on the other hand you can barely name console games from those days that still sell well today.
Not even just Blizzard, just have a look at how CS still sells a ton and it´s one of the most played games on steam all the time, both versions that even, and they came out many years ago.

Also the same reason for the Wii and DS success.
yes pc gaming is so awesome that it got everything graphics, mods, servers, freedom and sales.[QUOTE="SamiRDuran"][QUOTE="Kell_the_Gamer"] Its so sad the hermits boost superior graphics, mods, dedicated servers and general freedom but have to use a game that has none of that for sales ownage.Rocker6
Yet D3 has none of those things, besides sales...
Here, take a look at this beauty!
good thing D3 is not the only pc game. one game cannot have everything.[QUOTE="Rocker6"][QUOTE="SamiRDuran"] yes pc gaming is so awesome that it got everything graphics, mods, servers, freedom and sales.SamiRDuran

good thing D3 is not the only pc game. one game cannot have everything.True, but aside from sales,D3 has none of the attributes that make PC gaming great, and that's why it's sad it sold so well.Game like that shouldn't be a representation of PC gaming on the market...
Graphics are mediocre, gameplay is considered flawed by many(cannot comment on that, don't own the game),it has a strongly inconviniencing AO-DRM,has no freedom for community content and mods,is plagued with various exploiters,etc...
nice sales, but its mostly hype, almost everyone I know that bought it has quit playing because it apperently gets boring fast. I wonder how many of those 10 milion are still playing.
i have played it for over 200 hours and i have only had 1 set piece item drop lol
its pretty dumbed down compared to diablo 2 (well more hours played in that)
d3 just seems to be too focused on the real money auction hall, hence why the drop rates for good gear are terrible, also blizzard seem to be making changes with out saying what they changed after say 10 hour server downtime :(
oh well pre ordered torchlight 2 last friday so d3 will do me till then :)
Thats what happens when users have waited nearly 5 years since the last big-budget exclusive (Crysis) and the fanbase has waited over a decade. Unfortunately, there are far better PC games that deserve that support instead of Diablo III, like the Witcher 2, Arma & Dayz, and the thousands of incredible indie titles.PlaguelessThere has been plenty of high budget games on the PC since Crysis, from Starcraft 2 to SW ToR(wich apparently had the highest budget of all time in any game),to The Witcher 2(yes,big budget, because if we don´t consider TW2 big budget then the first Gears of war also isn´t,because they had somewhat similar budgets),the Total war games(Shogun,Empire and Napoleon),all WoW expansions wich are also high budget,World in Conflict(wich costed a lot of money including all the actors budgets),Civilization V,wich costed almost 10M,among many others.

I would think so,I mean, even Gears of war 2 in 2009 had a 12M budget and that game is considered to be among the biggest AAA big budget games out there(the whole series really).[QUOTE="Nanomage"]

This. Also I've made $280 dollars before all was said and done, so I can't complain. .Definitely a disappointing launch, but the hype was to damn high. In a few months they'll have it patched up and it will be awesome.
I enjoyed it, it's just the end game content is terrible at the moment.

D3 is garbage, its nothing but a cash grab for blizzard, No one that started playing this game with me at release still plays including myself. The game is actually so bad and a slap in the face that I am no longer going to buy MOP because I cant stand the thought of supporting blizzard anymore. I will be on GW2, they ninja nerfed loot, and buff elite damage when ever the hell they want, its all a ploy to boost RMAH/gold sales, game is total trash dont support this.
It's an awful game, it doesnt even deserve 50k units sold. Just shows the large masses continue to like watered down games that are mass marketed. And yeah, to all you hopeful THEYLL PATCH IT AND ITLL BE GUD guys, that's not going to happen. The game is fundamentally flawed from a very basic level. It'd take several expansions to bring to a quality standard, and that's not going to be worth a wait (nor will Blizzard care to do this).
The writing is bad, the entire plot is bad, the items have boring affixes, the boss fights are uninteresting (belial was cool though), most abilities aren't that interesting, I mean what about the game is special in any way? That it's a good cash grab maybe?
