Diablo 3 >>> Spore

So here's the actual news...

Blizzard is purchasing all of the Diablo 3 domain names it can. Of course Blizzard has said there is no official announcement of Diablo 3 being in development - but I would (as the reviewer of the article would) say this is a pretty clear indication that a third installment is on it's way.

I surely hope it gets made for the 360!!! That would be amazing.

Anyway as the POLL says - would you buy Diablo 3 for the 360 if it becomes available and is essentially an updated version of Diablo 2 with next gen graphics and gameplay? Of course since Blizzard would still be doing it - I don't see how it could be a "bad" game so base your opion on a new next gen version of Diablo 2 - and then when it finally hits it should exceed expectations! Personally I would even buy Diablo 2 for the 360 if it had a graphics update.

Furthermore here is a quote in reference to Diablo 3 from wordpress.com in an interview with Blizzard followed by the link:

The first one will be a convention build of the Lich King to ramp up those subscription sales and the second one will be the announcement of Diablo 3 for PC and Xbox 360. Wait, did I just say Xbox 360? Yes, those very same interviews reveal that Blizzard is working very closely with Microsoft and they are interested in seeing how the Live Anywhere service can work using battle.net..."

This is pretty clear BS.....Blizzard is not the kind of developer to ever have 2 games announced at the same time.....

and the chance of Diablo 3 coming to consoles.....is well pretty slim. considering that Blizzard just said a few months ago, that they werent doing anything for consoles.....

but what really kills the credibility of this, is the part about Live anyware...Blizzard has for years, had complete control of everything....one of their "points of game development" was about how developers should not rely on services that arent their own...the idea of Blizzard ditching Battle.net for Windows live is crazy.

I have never heard of Blizzard being AT ALL interested in making games for consoles anytime in the near future. Just look at their April Fools Day Joke... They openly mocked the idea of a WoW for consoles.

While I do believe that a Diablo 3 announcement is imminent, I doubt it will be for anything except PC. And by imminent I mean their World Wide Invitational next month.... This is the same patern as the Starcraft 2 announcement. A month before the last World Wide Invitational they purchased the www.starcraft2.com domain. Shortly there after, the World Wide Invitational came and boom the announcement hit.

The next World Wide Invitational is just over a month away now and they purchased the diablo3.com domain... Something smells fishy to me.

no, their parent company (viviendi) just merged with activision, and seeins as how Blizzard was Viviendi's biggest dev. they just put Blizzard in the name.

Blizzard is still bassiclly independent...they still control all the aspects of their games...they self publish...they do their own marketing...promotions....etc.....

they even said at GDC that their parent company let them do whatever they wanted without any medling at all because of Blizzard's success in the past.

i'm getting the PC version anyawys :p don't care if it's on ps3/wii/psp/ds/ps2/360/ps4/720/wii 2/gamecube/cellphone/in space i'll still get hte PC version :D pminooei

You should care because if this game is on the 360 it will be dumbed down. I enjoy console games and PC games but PC exclusives should stay on the PC. Unless they port the game later (such as Starcraft 64)

what does that have to do with anything... Blizzard can do whatever the **** they want to do... You forget they pull in $150 million a MONTH from WoW? Activision has more control over what EA Sports does than they have over what Blizzard does....

what makes this even more BS is the idea that Blizzard could be working with MS to make this game.....

Blizzard self publishes, they do everything related to their games by themselves....thats been their rule ever since a publisher messed up the french version of Warcraft 2.

Diablo 3 will probably be a late 2009/ early 10 title. I doubt it will come to the Xbox 360 which will be on it's last legs by that point.

It doesnt matter...Blizzard is bassiclly an independent developer...and havent gone to E3 for a long time since they are powerfull enough to have their own events.

Blizzard doesn't have console teams anymore and I don;t think they would let 3rd party dev to handle the 360 portAdrianWerner

they wouldnt....they made a point of mentioning that they would not let anyone other than them handle any of their franchises.

Still trying to figure out what Spore has to do with this. Maybe if you actually said why it was better. Besides, a game that actually exists will always be better than a rumor and some wishful thinking.

First of all...let me end this now. Diablo 3 will NOT EVER come to any console.

Secondly, Blizzard is working on Starcraft 2 right now. Also they will not announce Diablo 3 as long as they are making money on WoW. IMO blizzard will make another 2 expansions on WoW, cap the level limit at 100, THEN announce Diablo 3 which maybe simillar to the first two or an MMO. Either way...I want it.

Diablo 1 was on PSX ages ago, they made rock and roll racer and they were going to have Starcraft Ghost for consoles(not sure how their network play would work out) before it was canned.

It's not impossible for them to make a console game, just really really unlikely. I doubt they'd ever concede Diablo being played on Xboxlive, Maybe the PS3 if they were allowed to use BN instead of PSN services.

This has nothing to do with Spore... why don't we compare Gran Tursimo 5 to Guilty Gear Accent core next.
