I'll tell you a secret about our sheep jaydan here. With a mindset of a sheep, he will only consider things being good if Nintendo uses them in a game such as, well, the new Zelda as a good example. Since Zelda has nothing, its a very simpleton game, that is how he wants his games, simple🤦‍♂️If Nintendo had games with depth, i can assure you that he'd be complaining about D4 not having enough customization instead🤭This is what happens to a human being when you got brainwashed by Nintendo over 30+ years straight. All I got to tell you is this is casual shovelware game, and it is confirmed with this leveling system. I'm just glad I can play just as good as a 5 year old playing this game, because the game is inclusive to all skills. Glad this game hands out participation awards like that.

@jaydan: 100% agreed. 30 hours into D4 now and one of my biggest fears is coming true. Its too casualised, too streamlined. Its like a socialist welfare system where they are looking out for the lowest common denominator, and ensuring that everyone has fun and everyone gets a participation medal.

Zelda pretty borring. Never beat Botw. Think I got to the end of the second sacred beast, got bored because I didn't feel like getting more shock arrows. World felt empty, gear system is trash.

Overated games. And I like Nintendo. I'd play Kirby or Mario over it anyway

I've seen some reviews and posts calling the gameplay loop underwhelming and the level scaling annoying - but if you're just looking for a general brainless loot-action timewaster, does it hold up?

I have no idea how the engame is, i just finished act1 yesterday, and i am level51😂I am playing it pretty much the same way as Elden Ring. Clean the map without leaving anything unmapped or killed. Was a 8.5/10 at launch for me, now its a 9/10. Ashamed of admitting it, but this is a good ass Activision game.

The difference being that Elden Ring exploration is actually rewarding and D4 exploration is not.

I'm def enjoying D4, and the gameplay loop is fun, but I see no reason to comb over the map other than for completion's sake. You have the same chance to get a drop no matter where you are and the dungeons tell you exactly which class will benefit from running through it.

I've even started skipping side quest dialog in D4. Just give me my waypoint, the more kills I make per unit time, the more chance I will have to get a good drop to make my build pop. So for me personally, it def falls more in the "addictive brainless looter" category. I am playing it in the opposite way I did Elden Ring. Not saying either way is wrong, just an interesting comparison.

For reference I'm on my first character, level 45 Necromancer about 2/3 the way through Act 2.

I am not saying that the exporation is reward, its definately not (how many mmo's or "mmo lights" that have rewarding exploration? This doesn exist *unless maybe in games from the 90's-early 2000's*). I am just doing it to do all side content, find all Mommy's statues, complete all dungeons and map every corner of the map. And since by doing it you're killing stuff, which is the primary gameplay, i am having fun doing just that.

As for side quests dialogue, i am skipping ALL of them😁Even the main quests, i've skipped a bunch. Dunno about the majority playing the game, but i am having a real hard time giving a damn about dialogue in a top down game where you can't even see facial expressions and such. Add the fact that the voice acting in all side quests is complete trash, its impossible to get immersed.

@hardwenzen: Ah I gotcha. Yeah that's basically how I'm doing my first run. Try to do all side content, strongholds, statues. I have started to skip some dungeons that don't have rewards specific to my class because I anticipate making other characters.

In terms of immersion I agree. Silly when I'm doing a main quest and the NPC says "look across that lake" and I'm thinking "I literally can't"

I thought exploration was rewarding in WoW back in 2004, but that world was pretty cool and the size was epic for the time. Getting to a new area felt like an accomplishment. 😅

Vanilla WoW is a good example of the OG mmo's where exploration and even quest rewards were a big deal. This simply doesn't exist for over 15 years at this point. And sadly, i don't see it ever coming back.

Arbitarily doing bigger numbers does nothing for me. But being noticeably better at a game does.

You won't get there, so you can stop wishing. I know its hard to accept, but only those who beat gow2018 and Ragnarok on gmgow can get to that level, and you're not one of them, your finger reflexes are too slow.

And its not about doing bigger numbers, but about even able to survive (something you wouldn't be able to, obviously) in higher tier content.
