We'll see... I haven't been following the game too closely but I thought I read that it was being dumbed down.

From what I've heard they've removed quite a few features they said weren't really adding to the overall experience. The hardcores instantly think the removal of any feature, useful or not, is the game getting dumbed down.
Hell, people **** when they merged the acrobatics and athletics skill in The Elder Scrolls, even though they were totally useless overall.

By jamming your skill points into certain attributes (and ONLY those attributes) you starts playing an under-the-hood number game and your character gets mad strong. The issue with this is its not about building a character, its about doing the numbers correctly. In a game like this your don't want the optimal build, you just want a viable one. Diablo is all about building your character the way you please. That can't happen if there's a "correct" way to structure it.From what I've heard they've removed quite a few features they said weren't really adding to the overall experience. Just ordered my collectors edition off of Amazon.
Can't believe I may finally get to play this game in my lifetime. Now if they would just announce a date for Half Life 3 I can die a happy man...lol.

I need to play release to judge that. In most ways I would say yes, but I can see some cons to the system. As long as 6 skills doesn't feel like too many, I think it will be amazing. I am in the beta :).

That's how Diablo 2 was, and I thought that ruined the late game.

I love DII to death, but it has some issues that some longtime fans seem to deny. I think the health system, inventory, traits rather than stats, and most of the skill system is better in DIII. I have a few concerns, but they seem to be fixing pointless things in DII. Carrying around scrolls and healthpots is annoying. It is a pointless money sink that requires you to go back to town all the time. I am happy they did these sort of things. This includes the skill system, which I really like so far, though I am a bit concerned that 6 skills may be too much.
[QUOTE="NAPK1NS"]Right, but its a bad customization system. I'll play the **** out of D3 but is the new system better? Didn't play the demo. It's quicker, all your skills and stats are raised automatically every time you level. Basically, the game puts those skill points in for you so you can't **** the numbers. After that, the gear, skills, runes and class are all up to you. I think you'll have a great time. :D[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"]There were loads of "viable" builds as well as the optimal ones though under the old system.blue_hazy_basic

Oh, it did. People making those stupid magic casters/tank barbs... just wan't fun. I feel like long-time fans forget how problematic this design was. Going to be great to play a Diablo game without those concerns. It's quicker, all your skills and stats are raised automatically every time you level. I understand your concern, and while I still have some concerns, i think the build potential is far greater now. It is more about experimentation and play style, then picking one of 3 to 5 builds for a character and specing the points to make it the best possible. You still have tons of choice, arguably much more.
