Yah, Sony is building out and ramping up PSN pretty strong. I think they really want to twist Microsoft's Arm and play Mercy with them on the PSN/XBL front.

I'm not sure I understand this exactly. Why is background downloading game specific? Otherwise, what was your point in mentioning SingStar?
Background Downloading is only mentioned in regards to sing star. Whilst this will likely mean that it works for all downloads I will wait for conformation.

it sounds like it will only be resticed to certain games, also, its on a seperate internet service seperate from PSN in which, it will be up to the developer to decide if they even have their own seperate service. im glad to hear it, im used to how XBL does, and when i download off of PSN, i have to find something else to do besides playing my PS3. but as of now, it sounds all to clunky if this is how it ends up.

well it's clearly easy to follow than it is to lead :roll: yes, but they are doing a fantastic job in that area....

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. It sounds as if Background downloading is only going to work with SingStar. Which kind of leads to the question of, "How many people will actually use this feature." If it was across the entire network and every game allowed for background downloading then I'd give Sony a big thumbs up. But until more information is given, this isn't very news worthy.

Exactly, Xbots act like PS3 will never be able to download in the background :lol: XBL is looking expensive by the day.

Singstar has not been released, and this wont be possible with all games. It will be a feature that will be incorporated depending on the game. If the game doesnt use too much the processor then you will be able to download in the background. EDIT: One more thing. The background downloading will only work with Sing Star Songs.....

Yet both had the same amount of time to make it work. Unless of course Sony took off the last year and just felt like releasing it this year

Singstar has not been released, and this wont be possible with all games. It will be a feature that will be incorporated depending on the game. It only works with SingStar songs? This is like the crap that was being pulled with Lumines Live or something. That's not real background downloading, it's a scam to try and exhort more money from SingStar purchasers.

I think they really want to twist Microsoft's Arm and play Mercy with them on the PSN/XBL front.im all for PSN, but even though they ar eimproving it, thye gotta have some good games first to back it up. have you noticed that some developers dont have online for PS3 versions of their games? games liek resistance are different because the deveoper pretty much built their own dedicated servers for th egame, but PSN doesnt require that all new games are online. Thats why XBOX live is still bteer, it requires all new games to have soem kind of online function, xbox live is a more closed, secure network, but PSN might catch up.

rigth now, no its not comparible. the backround downloading will only be for certain games, so right now XBOX LIVE>>>>>>PSN because all games let you do backround downloading because its a requirement.

When SONY gamers start caring about that stuff in about Never...those will be important. As it is the quality of PSN surpasses XBL, you cant find an experience like R:FOM on XBL.

It's not comparable since PSN is not universal, no universal game invites, or friends. Not all PS3 games will be online, since it's free. This leaves the dev's to pay for all their games taken online....
