Heres why I feel this way. This is focused on the PC version of Bad Company 2. Im sure the console versions share some problems with the PC version.

DICE hasnt even fixed VOIP, the most important feature of a team based game. Its been almost a year. Admit it. How many times do you hear someone talk in-game? Once every 3 months? The hit detection is terrible as always. The defuse/plant bugs havent been fixed. TONS of people are still having disconnection issues. People ALWAYS complaining about lag in every server. If you dont believe me, go on the EA forums and youll see what I mean.

The game is fun as hell I will admit, and I play it a lot, almost daily, but there are so many problems with this game that I think it would be better off in a hands of another developer. God or whoever you believe in will have blessed us all when Valve makes their version of Battlefield. Monthly map (actual maps and not variations) releases, constant bug fixes, community updates/events.

Being the developers they are, DICE should have more than enough funding to take care of its games after release.

Love BF. Hate DICE. Thats my current stance.

If that constitutes them as a bad developer, then I can name many way worst.

The hit detection isn't worse than BF2. That was by far the worst I've ever seen in my life.

Haven't had any such problems on BC2 on Xbox Live. Seems like my $60/yr is getting me better gameplay.

are you talking about not hearing other users in Bad Company MP? because you're only supposed to hear those in you squad, not everyone in your team, and if you're squad isn't chatting then you won't hear anybody, get three other friends together, use party chat (more reliable), you won't have an issue

TC had the idea down, but the execution was poor.

(This is all based only a few months after release. Don't know if their game got better).

DICE are bad devs because in Bad Company 2, they make the sniper class OP. Combine this with horrible vehicle spawns (takes forever to kill a half-decent player in a Chopper just for another to spawn seconds later), and weapon balance is terrible to the point were some weapons are COMPLETELY worst in every way to others. The game has a fun concept, but it's without a doubt flawed.

I also hear they helped with multiplayer in MoH, and we all saw how great that turned out...

If youre talking a console version then I believe you. No one talks in the PC version and its a well known fact that VOIP is still broken. And supposedly the PC version was supposed to be first priority but apparently it wasnt.

Actually out of all the problems you have listed, the only one I encounter is the VOIP (but that's because I'm usually in party chat :P ) or with lag but that happens like once in a blue moon now. Anyways, if you think that leads to them being a bad developer, you should see what some of the other developers do :?

Yeah I was saying all BF games (although I only own 2142 and BC2), although even still I think BC2 blows most other FPS games out of the water. I am assuming he likes GG and their FPS, Killzone. I own KZ2 and while I love the style of the game, the controls, campaign, characters, dialog, story, and more are broken. The multiplayer was pretty good, but could have been better no doubt.

Yup. Only played Bad Company. It's still a Battfield game, and DICE's current piece of work. I'm not one to care about past successes, either. BF2 could have been the most amazing game of it's time upon release, but if the devs stay stuck in the past and don't evlove with the times, they may no longer be "great" devs anymore.

Now, I won't say this is the case for DICE, but I will say that their current jab at FPS in this day and age left me a little underwhelmed after all hype and praise they got when Bad Company (mostly BC2) was announced.

Last game played since I had Xbox live (had a party, and everyone wanted to use their XBL gamertags/loadouts in splitscreen).

As for the things that underwhelmed in BC2:

- Marksmen cl@ss has little drawback to him, and too many players flock to this class when others are needed.

- Engineer must face tanks/Choppers head on, needs to fire off multiple rockets to kill them (tanks at least), but can get facerolled in a single hit from almost all vehicles...

- Weapon balance is simply bad. There are a good number of weapons that are rendered completely useless when compared to others (more so then most FPS games).

- Lower ranked players are at a HUGE disadvantage when higher ranks are running around with higher bullet DMG, Armor, etc.

- While some vehicles have a decent learning curve, someone who has half a brian and literally spawn-camp a team at base, killing threatening Engineers only seconds after they spawn. Once it's FINALLY taken down, a new chopper is spawned only moments later.

- Do I have to mention the poor single player? I know most FPS games aren't geared to Single Player these days, but this literally felt tacked on.

- Fully destructable buildings are cool, but when every building looks almost the same, it makes the maps look rather bland.

- "Free DLC Multiplayer Maps" that were on the disk the whole time...

I'm sure there are other things I can't recall at the moment. With that said, I don't think BC2 is a bad game by any means (I even said ealier I thought it was good), but not anywhere near the quality people treat it. It does a lot of the crummy things that CoD get's hated for, just in a slightly different way.

Makes no difference at all, and sounds like an excuse if anything. I can always talk to my friend over the phone via bluetooth headset (same one I game with) if we are playing different games on the PS3, but that doesn't discredit the lack of Cross Game Chat support.

I will agree that I was and still am disappointed in DICE being unable or unwilling to fix the VoIP in BC2's PC version. The voip and the squad system was made BF2 and BF 2142 the major selling point for me because it further enhanced teamwork. TS3/Ventrillo are viable alternatives but they shouldn't be an alternative to something that should have been implemented in the game in the first place.

While I don't disagree that BF2 was probably an amazing game for it's time, I think saying that it's better than most FPS games this gen might be more nostalgia playing it's tricks than the actual game.

With that said, the only experience I have with DICE is the Bad Company series, and word-of-mouth from MoH's multiplayer (which isn't great from what I gather). From the last three games DICE have worked on, only one received a AAA score (only 2 have received AAA in their lifetime). Take that for what you will.

Only thing that I have against BC2 is, as another already posted, that it takes a lot of effort from multiple persons to take down a skilled heli pilot but its pointless, since by the time the pilot respawned, a new chopper is probably already waiting for him. Feels great the first time you take down a heli, after that its just a painful chore since its almost quite meaningless.

you shouldn't be relying on BC 2 voice chat for PC, you have a wealth of options available for the PC is my point. BF 2 was prime in that department, only the commander could voice over and certain squad leaders if I do remember correctly.

Lettuce be reality, BF2 was the best mp game ever DivergeUnify
Lettuce be cereal, BF1942 crushed BF2. BF2 had the most piss poor pea shooting weapons and crappiest network code/hit detection out of the BF games. It's a shame that after all these years DICE has still not figured out how to properly do network code for their games, at least BC2's code is better than BF2's.

I'd rather DICE make Battlefield and Mirror's Edge, and I would rather Valve bloody finish Half Life 3. DICE does what they do well, imo, and their games are fun, which is what really matters to me.

Yup. Only played Bad Company. It's still a Battfield game, and DICE's current piece of work. I'm not one to care about past successes, either. xYamatox

Just because you don't acknowledge them, does not mean they do not exist. While BC2 is a fall from BF2, it is still better than most modern FPS multiplayer games.

Take that for what you will.

well what do you think is the best FPS this gen?
