By locking out on-disc map variations and releasing them at a later time bit by bit to make it seem like theyre Valve. Now that theyve released all the "new maps" that we should have gotten on day 1, they say "Weve done our job. We gave you guys a bunch of DLC. No more free maps". Very dirty and obvious. I think its sad that there are people who turn the blind eye and defend DICE. Discuss.

Its sad that the community can be split on this issue. So many people missing the point. Makes me question humanity.

That would make sense if they were on the disk. But they weren't. Beats paying 15$ for a few maps though like a certain other series.

Let me ask some of you something. What the hell is the difference between the DLC being on the disk or not? Would youprefer they don't put it on the disk even if its finished just to make you feel better? Would you rather waster your time, HD spaceand bandwidth downloading it instead?

they were actually, ever noticed how you DONT have to download these "new maps", its because they are just slight variations of campaign maps, theyre not new, just variations that came with the game itself

I hate the fact that multiple "map packs" later and we still have the same amount of maps for BC2 as before. That, and gameplay is still completely inconsistent due to lag, and the fact that the guns aren't balanced in any way shape or form.

All in all, I'd say BC2 was initially impressive until I experienced the whole thing, and now it's a laughable online experience at best. MW2 being a bad game does not make BC2 a good game.

It makes the difference is that they had the "maps" completed but just didnt give them to us. It makes an even bigger difference that the "maps" are actually on the disc, within your reach but you cant have them because DICE wants to give them to you later so that it seems like they care about the community.

You miss the point. If the content was finished at time of release you should get it as part of the game. DLC should not mean pay full price for half a game and then pay again for the 'DLC' other half.

I think it's hilarious how people are all over this like it's a good thing. Sorry, but DLC shouldn't be playing a different gametype on a map you already have. Free or not, it's stupid and I sold the game after I found out that's what they were doing. However, DICE and EA are smart. All these pretend gamers think BFBC2 is the greatest thing ever because they're so desperately trying to find that MW2 killer (as if that garbage needs one..) so they jump all over this, DICE/EA are just capitalizing on fake gamers.

You are aware that the budget of the extra maps probably wasn't part of the budget of the game right? The extra maps were never intended to be part of the game, you wouldn't have got them and they wouldn't have been created if their purpose wasn't to be sold. All this day one whining is pointless, you're all speculating like they would have given them to you for free, they clearly wouldn't have.

It wasn't to fool anyone, it is EA's way to make profit off of used games by providing the VIP codes to people who bought the game new. People who bought the game used have to then purchase the maps giving EA some of the used game revenue.

But glad to see you cracked the case, here's your junior G-man badge.

the maps were only complete BECAUSE they were going to sell them seperate. You think that they would give this to you for free? You people are crazy. As for the maps on the disk again, the difference is that you would rather waste HD space, Bandwidth and time for a better feeling from DICE?Damn really?

They did it to encourage people to buy the game new and not used. Expect to see alot more of this type of tactic from all devs.

I am tired but it does seem like people are actually defending DICE saying the "Maps" couldnt be released on the disc or in the actual download. 1 - Whoever says this I am guessing you have not played the game at all. 2 - You must have no idea what goes into making levels; if you did you would know all they would have to do and I am not joking is to move a few place holders, maybe change some spawn points-ish but honestly what DICE have done is a complete joke. I really do have no hope for battlefield 3. Soon as it was for the console it has had its fate sealed.

Correct sir, and we will see more of this behaviour to stop the 2nd hand market. Publishers hate it as they don't get a penny from it but it makes up a large part of the overall market.

It doesnt take a genius to notice how every extra "map" is just a variation of an existing one. It doesnt take a genius to suspect or come to the conclusion that these maps were completed at the time of release. It takes something else to think DICE put in extra time to make us happy when they were working on MOH and BF3.

And some of these maps were on the disc (first 4). So obviously they were within the budget. DICE just didnt want to give them to us yet.

Yeah, it woulda been nice if they actually made new maps instead of just unlocking variants. The VIP thing could have been developed intomore than just an anti-Gamestop tactic. They're probably too busy with MoH anyway.

Yes, I don't have the game, congratulations, you can read! Aside from the gameplay being boring, the fact that it's "free DLC" consisted of giving me the other half of the game that I already bought, I decided to sell it. GameStop was having a 50% extra trade-in credit, so I got about $40 for it, maybe a little more. It's pretty sad. You guys cry over DLC saying "waaah it should have been in the game in the first place" but when it's free, you don't cry. It's the same thing. You buy a game on month/date/year but you don't get the entire game for another 4-6 months. Having to pay or not shouldn't be relevant, because everyone's argument against DLC as I just pointed out, is that it should have been on the disc already. Nobody complains about the actual pricing. It's all about principle. However, EA is the master at getting people to look past that by offering "free DLC" that was created months ago. When I buy a game, I want the full game right then and there, not a half a year later.

Yes! Brilliant idea! Let's punish the people who actually buy the game new and make them wait months to play the full game! Brilliant! It's almost as genius as publishers who implement the dumbest DRM ever for PC games to try and combat piracy, when all it does is punish the people who bought the game.

Yeah, they fooled us. Six "map packs" for free. Didn't see that one coming.

It wasn't to fool anyone, it is EA's way to make profit off of used games by providing the VIP codes to people who bought the game new. People who bought the game used have to then purchase the maps giving EA some of the used game revenue.

But glad to see you cracked the case, here's your junior G-man badge.

Yes! Brilliant idea! Let's punish the people who actually buy the game new and make them wait months to play the full game! Brilliant! It's almost as genius as publishers who implement the dumbest DRM ever for PC games to try and combat piracy, when all it does is punish the people who bought the game.

Wow, that's kind-of sad if you feel "punished" by this. I have Battlefield Bad Company 2 and absolutely love it, if it had less content and the maps ever felt boring then I might feel ripped off but fortunately with this game that is never the case. Everyone I know with the game feels the same as well.

I actually like how they spaced the maps out, changed it up and kept me playing a lot longer than I probably would've. Brilliant move on their part.

No duh the maps were created at the time of release. But if they were free what the hell is your problem? Whether it was a tactic or not its not like it cost you a penny. And the maps being on the disk does not prove they were withing budget because as I said, perhaps they want to avoid PSN or XBLA fees like bandwith and space etc. We don't know, you're just assuming you speculation is right which is not proper.

"No duh the maps were created at the time of release." I think Ill stop here.

Too bad, a person interested in real discussion would have read the whole thing. Your loss.

It's the way they pretend to have given us something extra when in fact we already payed for what was on the disc and they made us wait for the rest of the content we payed for and acted like it was a big deal. They should have unlocked the maps they had on the disc the day it came out.
