I'm currently playing it on PC, enjoyed it on my PSP too. Underrated FF game. Zack Flair>Cloud Strife , just saying.
Well?

Been meaning to play it since it came out...on PSP. At this point I'm just going to lump it with FF7R 1 and 2 in a huge FF extravaganza that'll probably go on for 500 hours.
Its not really underrated as its probably the most popular (and pirated) FF spin off due to popularity of FF7. I skipped it as I played the PSP ver. I felt no reason to return as Zack, his story is finished.
Hope devs dont do time travel shenanigans in upcoming FF7R part 2 the whole shit is lowest form of deus ex machina any writer could write.
Picked up the PS5 version when it came out but have only played it briefly just to check it out a bit. Am definitely looking forward to getting back to it. Never played the original.
How's the combat? Similar to Kingdom Hearts?
Kind of , Hack and Slash , use of magica , potions as FF VII Remake but successful DMW (goes in background) you get to use summons, special powers.
I played it for the first time on PS5. I really enjoyed it. I don't think I'm a fan of the new VA for Zack though.
I've placed it in my backlog. Too many quality games to play and I have not even bought Hogwart's Legacy yet.
Played it on PC. It was okay. The game is simply constricted design wise by its handheld origins. It is divided in a gazillion missions. The game is super easy even on hard, and the only hard thing is that a lot of things kill you in one or two hits or have a move with instant death, and since you restart at the start of every battle it's just trial and error until you defeat everything. It's a grindfest, especially if you want to beat the final special boss.
Played it on PS5. Great game, though it is showing its age in the gameplay mechanics. I still hate the slot machine level up system as much as I did on psp. It plays smooth though. Kind of wish they had some extra stuff to fit into the remake universe
@stacweed11:
Yeah the game isn't so much about leveling up than it is about gathering equipment. With the right amount of HP up, MP up and ATK up materia, Zack can have the stats of someone at level 99. Hell, I finished the game the first time at level 50 something.

I'm invincible then yeah? Pretty much , yup.
P.S - Only Minerva turned out to be a real major pain even on Normal. Thats it, rest breeze.
@kazumakiryu21:
Yeah, that's too much. You can finish the game at level 35 like I did the first time around with just 2 Mastered HP ++, and 1 Mastered Mp + with the usual elemental materia. I once used a ported save file like yours on the PSP and found that it pretty much broke the game's difficulty. lol It's not even worth playing anymore when you are that level.
@kazumakiryu21: I agree. The equipment and materia heavily outway the character level. I too have the platinum for that game thanks to costly punch and high jump lol.
Yeah I enjoyed it, not as good as OG FFVII but I always wanted to know Zacks story since I found his mum in Gongaga where she was saying she hadnt heard from him in a while and If Cloud knew anything, so it was ok backstory story filler. The Materia system in OG FFVII is still way better than FFVII Remake and Crisis Core Remaster, in fact its still probably the best magic system of any FF game.
Zack is a better character than Cloud because hes less whiney, but Cloud becomes way more powerful in the end, and would easily one shot Zack.
