A map editor is about the only thing Halo 2 lacks, and they're including it in Halo 2 vista.

NoNam3r

and I can play with ppl across the world in timesplitters?

No, but the question was about customizability of multiplayer, not which had online.

Both the Xbox and PS2 versions of Future Perfect offered online play (the PS2's was horrible but this was to be expected).

Didn't bother picking up Future Perfect and didn't care enough to look up the facts. Kind of assumed since it was a PS2 game it didn't have online. Either way the point was about customizability, not the online experience.

I told you, that's just scratching the surface. Each mode in halo has many variations, and each of those modes is highly customizable. You have slayer, and then within that game-mode you can have swords only matchs, snipers only matches, rockets only, Phantoms, pro slayer, elimination, Phantom Elimination. It doesn't stop there; you can then specify what weapon set you want on the map, whether you want the motion sensor on, bonus points, grenades, starting secondary and primary weapons (you can even go random if you want), and what vehicles you want. Or if you're really bored, you can just make your own variant. Keep in mind that's all within one game mode. Add that to Halo 2's 21 (23 if you want to count the ones Bungie just put out over Live) maps and you've got a game which will last you for years.

TyrantDragon55

Just tought I'd summarize; Halo 2 has roughly 38 game variants, 23 maps, 15 weapons, 5 vehicles, and 2 player models (you can customize the appearance of both) along with full customization for all game rules, create your own variant, matchmaking, and clan support over X Box live.

I know I did.

Quite honestly, what made Halo 2 so disappointing in my eyes was that the game failed to live up to any of the expectations that Bungie themselves set. Anyone remember that 14 minute gameplay video? Pretty amazing stuff that was, it made me jump for joy. Not only was the level not in Halo 2, but nothing that even resembled anything in that 14 minute demo appeared in the game.

It seemed like Bungie was slapped in the face with a "Oh crap, we gotta get this game out" fish, and decided to scrap a lot of what could have been.

But I like to think that's true for the sake of Bungie's credibility, because if it isn't true then I seriously doubt their ability.

Sans the Arbiter sections, I felt bored through out. The Covenant sections were interesting, and made the game interesting. I very much enjoyed fighting a long side an enemy I once would have killed. I loved seeing their side of the story, but going back to MC's side was something I dreaded doing. This was because I knew I'd be going back to fighting on another Halo. I didn't want to be there, I wanted to be on Earth.

Then there was the Shakespeare spouting Little Shop of Horror rip off.

I nearly turned off the game at that point, if it wasn't for Keith David as the Arbiter.

I HATED the Arbiter sections. Although I guess that was mostly because he got stuck with the majority of the flood missions.

No, but I've only played 1.5-2 hours of Resistance, while I've easily played 100+ hours of Halo 2, so it's hard to say.

(Most) of the Arbiter sections added a much needed divergence from what was otherwise a very "samey" game. It's crazy how the game managed to make me dislike Master Chief.

Even so, from a gamep[lay stand point MC's sections were much more fun IMO. The Elites just make a much more interesting opponent than the Flood and the Brutes.

from what ive read people can cheat in resistance though... like be invincible... i read in the ps3 fourms and the guy said there were cheaters in like every game... i cannot see how that could be fun at all no matter how fun the rest of it is.deadlypencil
There hasn't been a single player in the game I haven't managed to kill atleast once. Some people are just better than other people in that game.

I am not a fanboy of any type, and I enjoy Resistance a lot more then Halo 2. I think the single player campaign is a lot better, the multiplayer is a complete blast, and the weapons are much more varied then those found in Halo 2. I like the Halo 2 multiplayer, but I don't like the community at all.

Does anyone else feel the same? Please put your fanboy views aside, and answer the question honestly.

BrutonNYC

I like them both but I gotta say As far as shooters... Gears PWNS both.. Gears is a near perfect game both campaign and multiplayer. Dont get me wrong, I have both Resistance and Halo 2 and both are great

I can think of several things wrong with Gears specifically its single player mode is too short and the story doesnt make any sense and the multiplayer only lets 8 players play so I would hardly call even close to perfect.

Yeah who had the brilliant idea to make the pistol a  friggin cannon. talk about unbalanced gameplay. Only one game had an excuse to make a pistol the most powerful weapon in the game and that was Goldeneye with the Golden Gun.

It actually balanced the game pretty well, spawning with a weapon like the scoped pistol meant that nobody could whore all the power weapons like the rocket launcher. I really hope the scoped pistol comes back for Halo 3.

I fail to see how giving player arguably the most powerful weapon in the game when they spawn can balance the game at all. IMO looking for the right weapon to use in multiplayer is part of the fun. I think the lack of a extremely unbalance weapon was one of the pros of Halo 2 over Halo

Because in Halo 2 a player can whore all the uber weapons on the map because everyone spawns with a weapon that is practically useless unless dual weilded. This is why Bungie introduced pro-slayer, in which players start with a Battle Rifle and a magnum instead of an SMG. Oh and most would argue that Halo 2's sword and rocket launcher are pretty overpowered.

mestizoman

yes, i did

but gs feels halo 2 was innovative:roll:

and personally, i enjoy pc shooters the best because your reflexes are your most important weapon, and aiming is the easy part

I agree you have to be better to be good at Halo. Mouse is like a bike with training wheels, It even lets a retard have some fun.

[QUOTE="TyrantDragon55"]Slayer, Team Slayer, Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, Territories, Odd Ball, Assault, and Juggernaut. But it doesn't stop there, virtually every aspect of the gameplay can be tweaked. foxhound_fox

Gametypes in TS2:
  • Deathmatch - self-explanatory; kill or be killed.
  • Team Deathmatch - Like Deathmatch except with up to 4 teams.
  • Capture the Bag - Similar to Capture the Flag except with bags.
  • BagTag - There is one bag placed in the level and whoever holds it the longest wins.
  • Elimination - Each player has a set number of lives and whoever is the last man standing wins.
  • Shrink - A player's size depends on their ranking; for example, the person in last place would be the smallest while the person in first place would be the largest.
  • Vampire - Each player is given a 'bloodlust' meter that gradually decreases unless they kill someone. When a player's bloodlust meter goes all the way down, they lose one of their lives; the last person with at least one life wins.
  • Thief - When someone dies, they drop a coin, and coins must be collected in order to obtain points.
  • Flame Tag - One player at the beginning of the game is set on fire and he/she passes the fire to whoever he/she touches. Whoever is on fire for the least amount of time wins.
  • Virus - Like Flame Tag except once a player catches on fire, they're on fire for the rest of the game. The last person that's not on fire wins.
  • Regeneration - Players' health gradually replenishes.
  • Leech - Health can be replenished by hurting/killing others.
  • Zones - The rate a player's team's score increases depends on the number of 'zones' you control. Whichever team has the most points at the end wins.
  • Assault - One team must accomplish mission-based objectives while the other team tries to stop them.
  • Gladiator - One player is designated to be the 'gladiator' at the beginning of the game and only he/she can score. Whoever kills the gladiator becomes the new gladiator.
  • Monkey Assistant - The player in last place has a team of monkeys that help him/her out.

Timesplitters 2 has 125 characters, 15 maps, 26 weapons with complete music, time and scoring options.
Timesplitters FP has 150 characters, 16 maps, 35 weapons with complete music, time and scoring options.
All three games came with their own custom mapmaker with various levels of customizability varying on the game.

Please... tell me again that Halo 2 has more customizability than Timesplitters.

if it is so unbalanced then why is it the main game in MLG? I dont see golden eye or resistance in MLG
