Why is it that the portable ones, esp. on the DS,were overlooked, and some even don't consider them true TLoZ games?
PH was short and really easy,BUT ST was longer, harder, and better(except the impossible,Lokomo songs,#$#$!%)

Phantom hourgalss yes. It was very much in the spirit of Zelda even with the temple of the ocean king being annoying as crap. ST sorta but It wasn't as good as PH.
Jonwh18
Unbelievable....
PH was really short, and a total piece of cake...Temple of the Ocean King was pretty easy.
Loved both games, these games took full advantage of DS functionality which resulted in a fresh experience & lots of new ideas.
They took advantage of things that shouldn't have been taken advantage off. The Mic parts in ST were terrible. I played a freaking intrument from 4th grade up though highschool and it still wouldn't recognize that I play some of the songs correctly because the DS mic is crap. I evened up using an action replay. Ruined the game for me.Loved both games, these games took full advantage of DS functionality which resulted in a fresh experience & lots of new ideas.

I enjoyed Spirit Tracks even with some of the frustrations it had, and while i don't think is a traditional Zelda, i definitely think it was a solid Zelda game.
I thought PH was a fun game with new ideas, but I just wasn't very interested in ST. I played the first dungeon and it just seemed so bland...

Yeah, like that was a HUGE design flaw on Nintendo's part.
Sooo many ppl used AR for the Lokomo songs.
Phantom Hourglass was good, Spirt Track sucked.
Still the best Zelda hand helds are Oracle of Ages and Seasons.
They're better than Wind Waker, so yes.
Renegade_Fury
That statement is so Dindamn wrong.
You trying to cause a "nerd rage"?
are you not counting ones that orignally appeared on home consoles and were lattter ported to handheld? Because aLtTP is by far the best handheld zelda....Phantom Hourglass was good, Spirt Track sucked.

Ya I was referring to Hand Held exclusives, but A Link To The Past is the best no doubt on hand helds, and it was my first Zelda game which I still have on SNES with the origional box and game manual.

I've elaborated enough on this subject before, so it'd be easier to dig up one of my earlier rants on it, but in short, they handle the travel system significantly better, don't waste your time with empty space, the dungeon puzzles are more involving, they don't have a ridiculous currency system, they actually feel like finished games, etc.

I'd say so, and I acknowledge those puzzles as pretty simple. Still, I'd say using the stylus to move around stuff in room after room was more involving than what was in the 5 or so bare bone minimum dungeons that were in wind waker. Hell, even closing the DS to flip the map alone, I feel was far more memorable.
I played both to 100% (all heart containers, collectables) this year... They're both Zelda games in every conceivable way.

No. I could write a blog on how I think Wind Waker is overrated, but to put it on the same level as PH and ST is baffling.
On the point that the travel system was better in PH, maybe...but too bad those games didn't need a travel system AT ALL! For ST riding the train may be one of my personal most unpleasant experiences in a zelda game ever.

Like them better all you want.
You're alone in that.

Get an Action Replay for the Lokomo songs, and you're set.
They most defiantely are, whether you want them to be or not. Do you consider the Oracle games real Zelda games, because they weren't even made by Nintendo?

It's just PH except with a train and a flute that will make you want to throw your ds at a wall sometimes. Also there is nothing interesting to do besides the dungeons.
The only plus' I will give this game is some of the items are cool ideas and some of the bosses were alright. Still the same dull dungeon designs though.
I'm surprised no one mentioned The Minish Cap, I love that game!

I feel Nintendo has been flaky with the Zelda series lately. It seems they are unsure of what direction to take it in. Skyward Sword was good but it lacked depth, and motion controls get boring after a while.

Technically those would be the CDi games.
But out of the legit Zeldas...Zelda II.

Yeah I think the main improvement in Spirit Tracks would be the removal of the worst idea in the Zelda franchise (including the CDi games) ie the Temple of the Ocean King.
Also you people are insane, Spirit Tracks had fine dungeons.

I forgot exactly what it was but there's a certain angle / velocity of the air that always register.
