Did Microsoft flush away everything they gained this generation?

We all know SONY royally screwed up their playstation brand with the PS3 .

But what of the xbox mindshare and Microsoft?

Microsoft appears to be losing massively in their own hometurf (Humiliating) and in the UK. Hell, even with 4 day-1 PS4 bundles on amazon US, the PS4 standard edition remains in the top 15 best-sellers while the xbox ONE standard edition is at ~ rank 50.

I know there're lots of trolls in SW, but this one just beat them hands down in term of obviousity. rjdofu

I agree fully. At first I found CallOfDutyRulez's threads very entertaining, but they are starting to get old.

On topic though, that is a very nearsighted question. Sure, Microsoft has stuggled early, but you have to remember that core gamers are often vey fickle. Microsoft has a lot of time to turn around their fortunes.  

I mean, you gotta look at this objectively.

1) They are losing massively on their hometurf. 

2) All their best exclusives like Halo and Forza are now AA POS.

3) Inferior multiplats

4) Inferior controller as stated by BF4 dev

I'm afraid that the xbox brand is going to go back into irrelevancy next gen. How could you screw up this badly?

Price will always remain higher than PS4. Multiplats will look and run worse on the ONE. They have no studio at the level of Naughty Dog. If they keep this up, Halo might fall from a AA game to a A game by the end of this generation. :lol:

MS dun turned SONY on us.

Arrogant to a fault, with an awful E3, and a PR disaster. The one difference is that MS seem to see that this will have a negative effect on their consoles performance, and thus have taken steps to remedy this.

SONY just dug themselves deeper and deeeper.

You know people roaming the forums and console news are just a very small part of actual buyers later this year, right ?

Watch a lot of the hardcore defenders of hardware here buying jack shit at launch .

Everything they were criticized for has been remedied as of late so I don't see the fuss, they resolved their DRM issues, made indie friendly consoles which while a bit limiting are good enough I'd say. They have a good amount of quality games coming out and the only bad thing they have left is probably the cloud nonsense, at one point it gave the console multiplied power, now only AI gets this multiplied power. Still they fixed most things so I don't mind much.

There are tons of casual gamers who buy only 2-3 games every year who still think the ONE has DRM issues.

All the bad xbox ONE news was splattered across every major news site. Lots of casuals think like this:

xbox ONE: Weak, lots of restrictions

PS4: Strong, consumer-friendly

For me they flushed away any good will I had towards them over many years, Highlights of this include but are not limited to.

1)Stopped making any games that where not Gears/Forza/Halo/Kinect.

2)Turned the Dashboard into a twisted advertising program.

3)Release and then supported Kinect at the expense of core games.

4)Thought they could just force DMR on me and that I'd smile as they took game ownership away.

5)Became the NSA's bitch.

They seem to have done a pretty good job at that, yes. But i think they had already lost a lot of momentum and support before last gen ended, being too greedy and just not in touch with what their own fanbase wanted. Now they've just gone even further down that road and doing a bit of backtracking won't make a great deal of difference.

Once the systems are in people's hands things change for everyone. Exclusives and features sell the system after the initial launch. For all we know the PS4 could turn into another Wii U. 360 gamers bought Halo and Gears because they had nothing else to buy, not because they liked the games. Halo 4's multiplayer is dead.

360 gamers bought Halo and Gears because they had nothing else to buy, not because they liked the games. Halo 4's multiplayer is dead.

Sales are gonna plummet for both those games.

They were never relevant. The 360 was a lucky hit but still a mediocre product.

What do different gens have to do with this? All that changes is the graphics and scale of the games.
