Did the Ps3 reach the hype it was hyped for in 2011?

So , i know we are half-way through the year , but the ps3 was hyped for way much more this year , with many flops(not saying they are bad games) and that whole no PSN things , and other problems sony faced , i think it was a bad half untill now , the only AAA game was LBP2 which was supposed to be released last year , but the best is yet to come , with infamous 2 and u3 on the way , i hope thing take the better turn.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't KZ3 the only one that flopped? Little Big Planet 2 met its hype, I don't remember if Socom 4 had a hype thread, and then the rest were more pleasant surprises that didn't have hype threads (Yakuza 4, Motorstorm Apocalypse).

PS3 has killed in terms of games so far this year. Crushed the competition . By end year...it's a wrap.

The PS3 needs at least more AAAE imo to meet the hype, U3 and Infamous2 are their th best shots imo.

I would say no, not because any of the so-called flops (honestly, I'm LOVING these "flops" Killzone3 and SOCOM4), but because a few games I hoped would be 2011 titles are being pushed into 2012 or beyond. I mean I honestly thought there was a chance Starhawk, Last Gaurdian, Final Fantasy vs XIII (they've been working on it enough) could have snuck in as late 2011 titles. Maybe not all of them, but at least 1 or 2. I would say all three of those games are up there for me with Uncharted 3, now it's pretty much just Uncharted 3 for me as a "hyped" game, though some of the others still look pretty good - especially Infamous 2 which could elevate itself.

Then again, there is a positive side to those delays. I remember a few months back someone asking "whats in store for PS3 in 2012". Well now the 2012 lineup is starting to look pretty stacked, and we haven't even hit E3 2011 yet.

How many did Uncharted 2 sell? Didn't it release extremely close to MW2 (actually I just looked it up, it released a month ahead).

In either case, I think Uncharted 3 is a big enough name to not have to worry much about MW3. It will never reach CoD huge numbers anyway,but I actually think if it went head to head in the same week that Uncharted 3 would eat ever so slightly into PS3 MW3 sales, not the other way around. Plus the game will sell in numbers over time, it's still got to me more valuable to get in the holiday season than worry about MW3.

Basically what I'm saying is a TON of PS3 users will get both games no matter what - probably at least a million people buy both games in the 1st week or two even if they launch at the same time. Then throw in another million from making it into the holiday season. Then there are the people that would be "choosing" between both, it's here that I think an exclusive like Uncharted 3 would take some sales from MW3. That is not to say it will have a larger install base, as MW3 probably gets the larger install base even on PS3. But I just don't see these games as direct competitors. CoD fanboys will get their CoD no matter what. If a PS3 owner really need to "choose" between them, they probably go for Uncharted.

I figured it was something like that. It was easy to see for Zoro, Robin and Nami. Others were kind of iffy. Like Brook was the devil. That was kinda funny. :P

It was close though. That average score on Metacritic shows GS as one of the higher reviews. This could have been a casualty of war. But it barely made it out alive with one leg intact. :P

but I knew about what happened to sanji afterwards from a friend. I had to ask him because I too was like wtf when it came to sanji :P

LBP2 , Killzone 3 , Socom 4 , and Yakuza 4 all did around what I expected. Motorstorm Apocalypse was the nice surprise that exceeded my expectaions. I thought a 7.5 or lower might be coming and a whopping 8.5 was awarded! Year of the Trey.

That explains why my copy of SOCOM came in a battle worn Case riddled with Bulletholes and Knife punctures from the retailer. The guy at the counter told me what went down at Metacritic, and said I was lucky the game made it out alive. :lol: :P

It came with a Free Kevlar vest, which the guy at the counter told me I would need incase snipers tried to pick off my copy as I walked back to my car...and I got hit in the process.

yeah killzone 3 sure was dissapointing as hell in the multiplayer area. and also they took away the controls and recoil killzone 2 had, and basically made killzone 3 into call of duty as far as that goes.

it's still a really good game, but FAR from killzone 2.

This thread is funny. People here have not a clue what they're talking about. The ps3 only have ONE flop (which is KZ3, and it didn't even flop that hard). The ps3 have 1 AAAE, 3 AAE's, and 1 AE. The 360 have ZERO games to compare as of now. The ps3 is "curb stomping" the 360 as far as exclusives go. There's a massive amount of DC going on here.:lol:
