@Sweenix:
You are truly ignorant if you think Titanfall only sold a little more than 1.2 million worldwide. Like, staggeringly ignorant.

I'm sure it did something. It taught EA that they better not bite the hand that feeds. This gen, they need Sony.
Sony needs EA more then the other way around. Since EA is an American company, they will side with Microsoft faster then Sony. I won't be surprised if we see more deals between M$ & EA in the future. Especially after the E3.

EA needs everyone and that's the worst assumption i've ever read.
EA is a company first and foremost with offices all over the world. They want all the money.
Aren't you curious why they haven't come out with titanfall numbers ?

Fantastic game. The real way of seeing how good it is: look at all the cows crying about it. Same with Gears last gen: PC/360 game that they spent the whole gen crying and calling shit... cos it was SO FUCKING GOOD :D
Is that the game people wouldn't shut up about from May 2013 until March 2014 and then suddenly no one seemed to talk about anymore?
Because we bought it and played the shit out of it.
Wouldn't that increase the amount of talk about the game though?
It came and went and no one really gives a shit about it anymore. Hardly the big next gen revolution people were hyping it to be
I'm glad you deleted that reply @Animal-Mother.
It was pretty stupid
I realized my reading comprehension was off on that. My bad.
I'm a little late to this thread and haven't read any other posts but I'll throw in my two cents on this matter.
TitanFall is a great game, a shooter that feels familiar but plays a little differently. I think Titanfall will open the door for shooters to try new things, because people really are interested in new gameplay elements. Titanfall created a standard, devs are going to consider wall running, double jumping and more vertical gameplay areas. Devs are going to consider things like grunts and spectres (AI on the battlefield), they are going to consider alternate gameplay experiences (like the Titan). Hell, I expect every shooter with a "Prestige" system to take notes from TF's Generation Challenges. Essentially, I believe Titanfall kicked off the next gen of shooters, it is a baby step in innovation, but it will lead to much more.

they'll side with the money. if MS wants to keep EA in their pocket, it'll cost substantially more this gen because the Xbone isn't winning.

Not really no. There's way more to talk about before a game releases, unless there is a significant story. I feel to urge to talk about games like Metal Gear Solid after I play them. Something like Titanfall, or Mario Galaxy that is pure gameplay? Not at all, you can't really talk about feelings/experiences.
I barely play competitive shooters online anymore, but finally played Titanfall (360) for a bit last night. It looked okay, ran smoothly for the most part, and was fun. I think if MS could have secured X1 exclusivity for the title it would have made a bigger impact as far as SW goes, and in the real world MS would have sold more X1's due to the exclusivity. As it stood, most people were happy to play on their 360's and PC's that they already own. I doubt it had the impact that MS was hoping it had on X1 sales, that's for sure.
Pretty well-rounded point. At the end of the day, i'm glad it was multiplat as the game brought a new level to competitive FPS (popular). The game has great fluidity and motion when traversing the maps.

Sony is selling well this gen....EA isn't going to ignore Sony. EA needs Sony as well....
The way the media sucked it's TITAN you would have thought it was the second coming of gaming.
How they give that game a 9 and not Mario Kart 8 is beyond me.
Did you seriously think a game that MS and EA threw so much money at would score less than a 9? GS wouldnt have the balls to give it anything lower.

They side with whoever fills their wallets faster, and with the ps4 selling faster than xbone you can be damn sure they will hop on the hype train. In all honesty is more likely than they will make multiplats all gen long, more munys that way.

Heh, I think they side with whoever Activision doesn't side. Last gen it was other way around.

Why?
Because both EA and MS have recently been uncovered paying websites for positive previews, its not a big stretch to imagine they would do the same for reviews.

So, it's just an assumption that GS wouldn't have the balls to score it lower, in case they missed a paycheque? I'm not saying it's unheard of, but that hardly means it's true.

It's utter trash on the 360, and I honestly believe it effected the overall perception of Titanfall ... we're talking about a 70+ million install base full of FPS players, yet somehow it only managed to hit around 500 to 700K??
No doubt in my mind word of mouth played a huge role, and both EA and MS dropped the ball in releasing a blatantly half assed product on the market.
I'll be fair... You're both full of speculation. The 360 version reviewed well according to MC.

Side note.
How can Gamespot sit there and say this ...
"Titanfall still thrives on the Xbox 360 and delivers the same competitive thrills"
-No, just no. The FR is atrocious on the 360 with continual screen tearing and the absolute worst texture work this gen. Seriously, where are the freakin textures?? It's ridiculous that Gamespot can call the 360 version a 9, absolutely ridiculous.

I'm currently playing the 360 version, my roommate owns the X1 version. I was one of the people skeptical that there would be any difference whats so ever. It truly blows my mind how bad the 360 version is, it's honestly the ugliest game I played all of last gen.

Dude, I don't doubt it. It's ugly as balls on the X1. Still, it doesn't prove your point... That being said, the person you responded to didn't either, so **** it :P

Well obviously I can't prove my point, the purpose of this entire thread really is to speculate. Facts are Titanfall didn't sell amazing considering the type of hype and money that went into promoting it, and it didn't have an impact like MS would have hoped. I'm just trying to get an understanding as to why ... and my why is the release of the 360 version.
No point in a forum if you're strictly talking facts.
March came and went and with it came some awesome games. Mainly Titanfall. It scored a 9.0 here and has an average of 86 on metacritic.
Nonetheless Titanfall went on to be the best selling game of March but was swiftly dethroned by Infamous in April being the best selling Next generation game ( Why do people still say that. We're in the generation son).
But did it really set the world on fire like people expected?
Titanfall came and went and so did the clamor around it. It moved an ok number of Xbox Ones in March but still failed to beat the PS4.
And then April came and Titanfall seemed hit a brick wall in moving large amount of XB1s. With sales peaking at 115K
So what is Titanfalls legacy? I've played it and while it's great nonetheless I feel like Respawn missed a golden opportunity making it MP Only. It's loads of fun and should be given a shot. But where does it stand in the history of games? Especially with the MASSIVE amount of hype it had.It seemingly came and went and didn't do much else than have people clamoring for the better half of a year. It certainly didn't set the world on fire and certainly wasn't that knock out AAA the one absolutely needed to move consoles.
So where does it stand to you guys? Is it another game that falls into the ether and have subsequent sequels that sell a million and call it a day? Or does Titanfall find a way to rise above the rest and really make a name for itself?
No it didnt set the world on fire ... period.
I feel hype victim myself ... I paid for PC version and i dont even play anymore. Good game but just that... Good... nothing to be THAT hyped for .. its just an okish game
Fantastic game. The real way of seeing how good it is: look at all the cows crying about it. Same with Gears last gen: PC/360 game that they spent the whole gen crying and calling shit... cos it was SO FUCKING GOOD :D

Because we bought it and played the shit out of it.
Wouldn't that increase the amount of talk about the game though?
I don't post while playing. I love the game, loved the Hype thread Cow DC, and still play it. I still play Left Behind DLC for TLOU but don't talk about it. I guess that game is shit then.

Well no, I assume you only have one pair of hands and eyes
I personally believe titanfall is a pretty fun game, and did a good job of trying to combine competitive and arena based FPS together. I would say it did not just come and go. Titanfall is still on the top of most sales charts, and is brought up in a lot of threads, even this thread itself shows titanfall had an obvious impact being really the only game this gen to have a 5 page and growing thread several months after release.

Was referring to the comment "bought it and played the shit out of it". I was too busy playing to post about it.
@Bread_or_Decide: I had already packed away my Xbone and was considering taking it back out for Titanfall but I decided against it as it didn't look at all exciting. Thanks for eassuring me that I did the right thing. So long Xbone. :)
