Fam, I'm still trying to finish The Witcher 2! :o
Nah, I honestly stopped because I hate the gamefeel in that game.
The game world, the questing, the choices? all about that shit, that's awesome, the music is grand. The playing it part? Honestly turns me off. But, they recently patched the feel of the movement to not be dog shit, so I'm holding out hope that one more patch is out there that makes the combat good. #Believe.
That's why I'm waiting for the GOTY version when it'll be fully patched. I've seen enough Youtube gameplay footage. Roach gets in the way soooo much among other issues.
Question: How closely does the game follow the Witcher novels?

You may know that in The Witcher 1 and 2 some character personalities were different than they were in the books, especially when it comes to Yen and Triss, and that happens in The Witcher 3 too. They did not re-enact the books but they did create a very complete Witcher experience. More so than The Witcher 1 and 2 in my opinion. There will be quite a few things that you'll recognize from the books and this game is probably the closest we'll ever get to being a Witcher. I think they did a great job with it.
Oh and with my PC version I had zero problems with movement or fighting. It seems to be only the console version that is suffering from movement problems. Unless you count the horse, he seems to be a little problematic in all versions. There are a few bits that require you to be fast on horseback and that can be a little frustrating when the horse stops when you feel like it shouldn't.
I did not regret playing it now.
I'd play it when you feel like it, because the version I played felt finished.
Yeah I got side tracked with other games after I started The Witcher 3 and put it down shortly after arriving in Novigrad. Started back at it a few days ago and I'm appreciating the game even more now. Some of the side quest are really great and interesting.
The game is just so large and so polished despite that. Geralt is such a great main character: very powerful and capable, all while being a very good person despite all the unwarranted hate he receives from so many.
@charizard1605: 81 hours, seems plausible. I thought I played it much more, some of these numbers here seem crazy.
Waiting for the inevitable Enhanced Edition or GOTY edition. they announced a new game + and are fixing more stuff.
the game really did release in beta state and i'm not going to support that type of practice while every reviewer including gamespot gives it a pass.
Witcher 3 is a game of such scope and complexity that it would've always been in a beta state upon release. There's no way they could find all the bugs and flaws without it hitting the market first.
Witcher 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. And the patches have made it even better while waiting for the big New game plus.
I beat the game on Death March :).

Walked the Path
Nope. I am trying to 100% it. I have 96 hours in and I am in Skellige.
I thought you were a mega fan? Shouldn't you have 100%ed it already?

I believe myself to be. But I am also a 42 year old adult with responsibilities in the real world. When I am in school my GI Bill pays the bills. I am not in school this summer so between an ailing mother and my combat vet uncle and work, game time is limited.

pretty impressive that you manage to find time to game with all that going on
Haven't played a single second of it... Don't even know what the title screen looks like...
I wanted to stick with inquisition and do all the dlcs before biting off another fantasy rpg... I was going to save it for around xmas, but then fallout 4 happened and that takes precedent over everything this side of the Andromeda Galaxy (wow, that actually worked! :P.)
Its funny though... I all but ignored Witcher and Batman and I'm having a stellar year of gaming.... Waaaaay better than 2014.
Finished it in just under 100hrs of playtime, loved it. It took me over 6 weeks, although I did finish a few games during that time as well.
Such a rich world to explore and doing it just slow and steady is so rewarding. I didn't do everything, I got a good ending. If I had my time again I would play even slower and spend more time with Gwent early on
yep got the second best ending and had a half way game saved loaded that and am now doing a lot of side quests I missed will finish this game after getting the best ending and will New game + it until the expansions come out amazing game best open world RPG I say
Yeah, sure did. I did most of the side quests (not witcher quests, a lot of those still remain because I have no time right now), especially those connected to the story, except for that last one
where they go ahead with some regicide plan,
so I got the ending where
Emhyr is still emperor, and Ciri and Geralt do witcher stuff together for a while until Geralt later retires with Yen.
Was one hell of a game, and I liked it a lot more than the last two. Still game of the year for me, and I don't see it being dethroned by anything. Pure atmospheric bliss.
Oh, and I must also mention that entire quest chain involving the Bloody Baron. That was some haunting shit. Probably my overall favourite part of the game, and I don't think I'll ever see anything of that sort again anytime soon.
Yeah i finished the game after 125 hrs or so. You dont need to play it that long to finish it but since i was reviewing the game i wanted to play it as much as i could. I have yet to finish all the side missions and quests though....i doubt i ever will considering how many there are.
Gamers complain when games are too short.
Then gamers don't have time for long games because their backlog is too big.
So those gamers don't have the time to complete long games.

Man, I hated the combat in DA:I. Went into Witcher thinking it would be a thousand times better. More similar to Shadow of Mordor, or something.
Needless to say, I should have kept my expectations low.
I'll finish it, though. Eventually...
@SolidGame_basic: still working on it. Took some time off to.play batman. The problem is i get maybe 2-3 hours tops to game a day sometimes less. And i just got to novigrad at level 14. So many sidequests , i het the feeling i will be playing this for many more months. Never seem a game this big. It makes skyrim look like a theme park.
i have over 200+ games in mu backlog from pc, to ps3, vita, 3ds and ps4 (not even counting retro gen 6 and ealier games) i will never finish all of them.
Then i got mgs5, dragon quest heroes, fallout 4 and just cause 3 to get. I also want ac sydicate, until dawn, battlefront , and disgaea 5 but those will jabe to wait.
I started playing again so I can power through, but I'd rather be playing Rare Replay right now.
I'm pretty burnt out on the game, and I'm only level 11...

Roach is hardly a major problem in the game. I ran into some bugs during my 81 hours of playing the game: there were couple of occasions where I couldn't mount Roach (before 1.07 patch, had to quit the game) and during one quest a NPC just stopped during a hike, I just ran into the next spot without him.
The bugs my GF has run into so far: she played with the bombs when suddenly all water turned to black, had to quit the game. One time Roach couldn't be called, but the game fixed it itself.
