No because emulators are flat out better.
In what way?
Hopefully Nintendo will release another batch of the NES Classic mini because I'd love to add that to my collection.
Hmm yes I have it sitting right next to me.
Go to EasyAllies on Twitch. They have a SNES mini marathon in which they do certain little challenges. You can do the challenges with them and see if you can beat them.
I never had a NES or SNES so most of these games I never played. (We had the Megadrive.)

They're planning to do so next summer. If the launch units for SNES are any indication, it should be reasonably easy to buy the second time around.
nope, I don't find it to be appealing in the long term and would wait until Nintendo puts the virtual console on the switch.
@kjtc1979: I recall them saying that they were going to release another batch of the NES Classic but I thought that it was just for the European market. If it will be worldwide then that will be awesome.
Only attractive point to me is Star Fox 2.
Its not worth it, you can beat the game in an hour.
There is a reason it never released.
Yeah I just saw the review. If I'm perfectly honest, If I do get a SNES mini, it would just be to stay packaged in case it picks up a bit of value in the future.
I got a spare packaged NES Mini. If there's one thing I've learn't, anything NES designed that's official, turns to gold so to speak down the line. Just trying to get a mint NES themed GBA SP that's affordable for example isn't easy. Some of the battered 2nd hand ones aren't cheap.
I just have no interest in the SNES Mini to play. Nintendo and the consoles other developers have milked their games a lot over the decades. I have the games on other platforms, the original form and some of the others on emulation. I just don't see the excitement. NES Mini was more important imo because it was the NES.
@PSP107: Meh. Maximum Carnage not being on the SNES Classic doesn't bother me at all. I think the games that are on it are excellent and well worth it.
Not interested to be honest. After NES classic, I've pretty much given up on these novelty retro consoles. I still have my SNES and about 90+ important games (to me) in my collection. I'm still good to go.
Played on one yesterday, and I'm glad I didn't get one. It's nice for nostalgia but way overpriced. There really should be more games on it, after all with modern memory they could have put a lot more games on there. The selection is mostly great and it is good to play on a real controller but I had a distinct feeling I would play this for a little while and then put it on a shelf to gather dust.

It's easy to mod though, you can put any SNES game on it you like.
@knight-k: It is a problem. You are putting down a lot of money for this, if all you are going to do with it is emulate games, that you already can, the price is everything.
No because emulators are flat out better.
So now emulators are better. Hmmm... Should i start now ? No i wont , i think you already understand.
You can start if you want AzatiS as you get off on our little back n fores it seems. If you recall though, I never EVER said BOTW Switch version was better than the Emulated PC version (If this is what you are on about).
I did however, once again stress that the portability factor often means Other People and I would choose the portable version of various games still.
Because you can't seem to wrap it around your supposed "alpha" brain that maybe , just maybe, people don't just play games PURELY for their graphical merits! Shocker!
Given, as a Fellow "Hermit" you should know that shitty/dated looking games are the majority played PC games to begin with (That ironically, besides cranking up AA/FPS/Resoltuion) often look like games to gens older (top 10 on steam anyone? Blizzard games anyone? LoL? World of Tanks etc etc).
But yea, I guess I should feel bad for not playing 60 FPS 4k on a waste of money 1080 GTX just to get slightly sharper pixels on a screen that's infront of my godamn face.
@MBirdy88: I actually read (I'll try to link it later) that the SNES mini emaulator has lower input lag than most pc emulators, making it an ok choice compared to pc emulators.
I still think it's a toy for grandmas/kids, which is fine. But it's funny seeing so-called "hardcore" gamers wetting their pants over it.

It's relative. 80 bucks isn't a lot imo. (+ it will probably hold its value over time)
@achilles614:
A gift for grandma, wtf!?? Snes isn't THAT old! And I could see the allure of it being official Nintendo hardware but at the end of the day, it's just the novelty of the design that you're paying for. I'd rather buy it for 80 than give those fucking sharks 250 for buying the Snes in bulk just to sell it for more. Those guys killed it for me.
I really love this thing. The unit itself looks so cool. I think the North American version looks just fine myself. The emulation of the games is really well done and the interface is easy and snappy. The controllers are practically identical to the original SNES controllers, it was pretty cool using one again after all these years. The cord length is decent however another foot or two would have been perfect. The games on it are excellent but I do really miss that Chrono Trigger and Final Fight aren’t on it. I also would have loved to have seen some other games such as Sparkster, Legend of the Mystical Ninja, Axelay, Breath of Fire, and Gradius III on it. Still I feel very satisfied with having gotten one.

Meh that input difference is nothing, not even noticeable, I can't say I've ever experience any input issues, a very minor marketing victory at best.
I mean, this is a montage of Launch box - includes videos of all the games, and the original manuals/artwork and wiki information to browse through casually.
There is just no comparison, open source project, perfectly legal.

Just shhh , dont let me start here. You were the one talking bs to me over and over when i was talking about an emulator , remember ? Baaah , lets not start this. You know what im talking about. I would never attack someone that talks emus so i use the very same argument to someone else the next day . Thats not alpha enough for me so i would never do that. But you just did that right now is this post.
So lets let it go , i just posted so you know i saw this, nothing more nothing less. I might use it against you in future debates though, you dont mind right ?

I mean, I can't even understand your broken English half the time, so to be honest you can make up whatever you want to make yourself look like a winner, exactly why you need to:
1) Go take a few more classes in English.
2) Seek professional help - because the attention seeking and the mental gymnastics about "winning" would put Charlie Sheen to shame.
You are a joke.

Whenever i exposing you hard and have you in the corner you getting angry. Why you getting angry when we both know very well at this point that you got busted ? Seriously now.
If im a joke when i was talking about emu when you were not only against it but talked shit all day long then what are you when you referring to emu in this thread as of why SNES classic doesnt make sense to you ? Exactly THE VERY SAME thing i was talking about when you were trashing me !! Hahahahhahaha ! I just exposed you so hard this very moment that i can tell why you are so frustrated.
Youre the pinnacle of hypocrisy and you got busted for it. Cry all you want, make it personal as much as you want. Talk about jokes , help ,broken english...it doesnt matter to me. The fact remain, what i was thinking about you = proved.
This isnt about win or loss , wtf does that even mean ? Who cares about such childish things ? Next time, when you talking trash to me for X subject care what you saying because as you see you are not legit to your opinions and it backfired.
Busted , live with it.

Grandmas? You do know that the SNES is from the 90s, not the 60s, right? I'm pretty sure that most of the people that are buying the SNES Classic are gamers in their 30s that grew up with the SNES and that's what I saw when I was waiting in line for it. There were no grandmas or kids in line; it was mostly people around their 30s that were waiting for it.
It's a cool looking collectible item that is officially produced by Nintendo; plus, other than playing on the real SNES hardware, it is the next best way of tapping into the nostalgia that many gamers have for one of the greatest consoles of all time. Why wouldn't a hardcore gamer be wetting their pants over it?

Because:
1) Its £80
2) Its wasting space
3) Better alternatives.
I mean, I get it, for collectors.... but in typical nintendo fashion, it could be sold for half of that i bet.

1. $80 for 20 games comes out to just $4 per game. How can anybody claim that is a bad price especially considering that some of these games are among the greatest games of all time? It's even half the price that they are on the Virtual Console. To complain about this price is just ridiculous since there is no other possible way to legally get these games for cheaper than this. What do you want Nintendo to do, just give it to you for free?
2. Eh, I guess so, if you consider something that is small enough to literally fit in the palm of your hand to be taking up too much space.
3. The only better alternative is playing on the real SNES hardware, but buying a real SNES, a Framemeister so that it looks good on modern TVs, and all of these games is way, way more expensive. A PC emulator or a RetroPie is not a better alternative for anybody that cares about an authentic experience and something that more closely recreates the nostalgic experience of how they originally played these games.
Could Nintendo sell it for half of this price and still make a profit? Nobody here can really say for sure, but I think that the people that are making the ridiculous assertion that this is priced too high are not really thinking about all of the costs that really go into this. There is the licensing costs that Nintendo has to pay the 3rd party companies in order to include the non-Nintendo games on it. There is the material costs for the console parts, the controllers, the wires, the packaging, the papers, etc. There is the manufacturing costs. There is the marketing costs. There is the inventory costs. There is the shipping costs. There is the cost of the time that it took for the employees to design and test the system to ensure that they were delivering a quality product. There is the cost of finishing the development of Star Fox 2 to include as a bonus. I'm sure that there are many other costs as well that I can't even think of. All of these costs add up and Nintendo is a business so they also need to make a profit after all of these costs. Even if Nintendo could sell it for a little bit cheaper and still make a profit, it would be a stupid business move for them to do so when there is obviously a huge demand for the product at the current price that they are selling it for.
