this is for people who have both PS3 and 360. how would you compare the online experiance between the two systems. I mean is xbox live really worth 60$ compared to PSN which is free. cuz think about it.... by the time I'm done with my 360, say in about 5 years, I will have spent a total of 420$ just for online(although live could eventually be free eventually) so basically i will have spent the amount of money that an entire console costs just to play online...

The Biggest thing Xbox LIve has over PSN, is the Chatting option's are better (PSN has good Chat options, XBOX Live has AWESOME Chat options). That about sums it up for me. If that's worth it for you, then there you go, it is for me.

EDIT : Also, right now, there are more movies online, and Demo's (Sure, they are older, but they are there)for Xbox Live. It's an older service, and got the train moving sooner, but for someone that could be an issue.

No Xbox Live is not worth its price.

Though a yearly subscription over a time period of 4-5 years isn't exactly the same as, say, a one off payment for a console.

No, it's not. It's $50 per year. If you know about a place where it is on sale, that doesn't mean that is the right price.

Hey, the PS3 is $200, because I know a guy. Sorry, doesn't work that way.

Also, I believe Xbox Live is $60 per year in Canada, and $80 in Europe (Thanks Euro Posters for clearing that up).

In the UK it's costs around £40 for a year, which would be around $80 I think.

Well, that's a deal. Buy a couple, I work for a major retailer and following the Microsoft MSRP it's higher than that. I say buy a couple at that price, sport. I know a place that are selling Sixaxis Controllers for $40 new (Even though they are supposed to be $50).

Depends how you use them.

For me the differences are really minor. The only thing i'd want from the PSN is proper in game music.

Which isn't really the service, that's a difference between XBOX360 and PS3. However, yeah, the PSN service could fix that with an update (2.41 made strides in that dept.)

Regarding Walmart they don't have the pre-paid card on their website under xbox 360 at www.wal-mart.ca

Where I come from we pay about 150% tax on electronics.

For instance, I bought my launch PS3 for 4380 NIS which is according to today's dollar ...about 1000$.

I have numerous friends with 360 and PS3s. Most 360 owners I know have "chipped" or firwmare hacked their system to get games because the price here is unbareable at 100$ per game. So they obviously dont play online.

The extra price for online is one of the reasons why I never bought a 360 in the first place.

It just doesnt sound right paying more and for a filthy rich company such as M$ ontop of the hundreds of dollars the system itself costs.

I personaly dont have much complaints for PSN.

I just wish they'd open the Video Store to outside US residents and be done with that damn Home already :\

With PSN, developers are left on their own, to do whatever they want, meaning, they could make you sign up for their website and make gaming IDs and such, and you won't be able to even use your PSN ID. While with XBL you're guaranteed to use your gamertag with every game.

Also, even though creating a PSN ID is free, there's no option for you to change your PSN ID. You can't even delete it. You have to just forget about it. While you could change your XBL gamertag for a fee, so it reduces people making all kinds of gamertags. It just really make you wonder how many PSN ID were counted due to the fact you could create infinite PSN IDs, using different email addresses, and knowing you could create infinite email addresses.

True but there is also the fact that people make multiple XBL gamertags so that they can get the month free online service with a silver membership, so you end up with more XBL gamertags then there actually are people playing on live.

As for the initial topic I'd say that the only major differences are one PSN being free and Live costing money(however that could change soon as Games for Windows Live is now free) and PSN network lacks in game chat features and a game invite option from the cross media bar.

You can argue about lag issues but the truth is you get that on both services depending on your ISP (for me I've had more problems on Live but I know that's not the case for others.)

60€ a year, which is going by the 1.5€ for 1$ (thats the exchange rate atm isn't it?) 90$, UK is difrent beacose they still got the pound not euro

oh and the ps3 is 600$ here, the xbox360 elite (can't find the normal one) is 690$

I think PS3 (much like any electronic circuit on this planet) is manufactured in Taiwan so things should be pretty cheap there.

I'm from Israel anyways.

thrones

one's better guess which one

The one with Home.

End of thread. PSN+Home...I love how box owners justify getting ripped off.

this is for people who have both PS3 and 360. how would you compare the online experiance between the two systems. I mean is xbox live really worth 60$ compared to PSN which is free. cuz think about it.... by the time I'm done with my 360, say in about 5 years, I will have spent a total of 420$ just for online(although live could eventually be free eventually) so basically i will have spent the amount of money that an entire console costs just to play online...

quizee
well im more worried about how much I will spend on gas to get to work.
