Even though creating a PSN ID is free, there's no option for you to change your PSN ID. You can't even delete it. You have to just forget about it. While you could change your XBL gamertag for a fee, so it reduces people making all kinds of gamertags. It just really make you wonder how many PSN ID were counted due to the fact you could create infinite PSN IDs, using different email addresses, and knowing you could create infinite email addresses.

The same could be said for XBOX LIVE SILVER. I have a friend who's already done what you spoke of, on Xbox Live.

I don't even know why'd you even go there, you are trying to make it seem like PAYING for a NAME change is COOL. It's not.

LiVE - everything is integrated, making it easy to use and thus, a joy to use. ubiquitious inclusion of headsets are a blessing. Virturally every feature is accessable from within anything you're doing. Lack of hosted servers and the lag that environment can sometimes create is frustrating. Overall, the best online offering on any console, period. And it only gets better. Right now, only STEAM (and maybe Xfire?) represent feature-for-feature competitors.

PSN - equivalent online gameplay. but with a tangibly lacking communication experience. Many games are a barren wasteland when it comes to voicechat. That impacts a game experience negatively for me. That was fine in 2000...but it's 2008 now. LIVE has taken the proper evolution in this regard. Sony and Nintendo are far behind the curve. Sony is serious about catching up, but because their "house" (OS) was already built, it's very hard for them to do. Imagine trying to re-do the foundation of a house you've already built and you get the idea. As PSN becomes mroe integrated with its core feature set and more people get headsets, PSN will be similar enough to LIVE's critical features for gamers to be almost equally satisfied with both.

But PSN may be 2 years away from where LIVE TODAY...in terms of integration. and integration is what makes LIVE work so well.

I own both. I am a fanboy to both. I use to think 360's was definitely worth 50, but Sony has really expanded PSN. The only difference between the two is that Live tends to download games/updates quicker than my PSN. Also, I tend to get logged off of PSN way more frequently than Live while changing from one task to another. Ex.: download a demo, install, then logs offline after playing the game. Or end a game and start a new task=log off. Minor problems that are not worth losing 50 dollars. Also , I think xbox has better arcade exclusives than Sony. However, I have more friends on 360 to play with so I pay.

XBL is a much better service you get to rent films, listen to music on LAST.FM, regular LIVE updates and exclusive game updates and titles.
