If you're a racing fan arcade or sim p, you owe it to yourself to get this game. I got it for PS4 yesterday and it's wonderful.

At first I thought it sucked but that was bc My first car was RWD and I suck with those. But then bought a FWD car and the difference in handling is just a testament to the thought that went into this game.

It's a sim through and through.

Gone are the days of the Xgames bullshit. It's all about rally this time.

It got an 8 here on GS for PS4.

Not a big racing fan myself, but a friend of mine has literally played nothing else since the early access of this on PC so it has to be quite good

I may look at it when it drops in price. Just got Tack Mania Turbo and that's a lot of fun to. Fun competing against your friends ghosts.

I havent played a Rally game since Sega Rally days on Dreamcast. Ive been all about Forza since, and the Crew sprinkled in this Gen. I want to give it a try but I have so many racers already.

@mr_huggles_dog:RWD!? That's like playing Dark Souls 1st time without a shield.

So glad Xgame got the boot.

Blasting Inital D on the Spotiny app and just racing, oh god, f*ck GS, this is a 10000/10.

From what I understand there's not a whole lot of tracks or cars. But there's depth.

In reality I would have knocked a point for the track and car issue, but since the depth is there, and given it a 9/10.

@mr_huggles_dog:Well, the review here has a point, especially the driving school.

People these days play GT or Forza or any other sim racer and just follow a line, so they have no idea how to flick or e-brake a turn with gas regulation. The game has no casual entrance, unless you at least know how to drift in GT or Forza and even that's not enough.

Lack of tracks just means DLC, like that's any surprise.

It looks good, but I'm more into track racing personally. Reviews say it's a serious rally sim, so I'm not sure I'd enjoy it, but I'm glad it's good and people like it.

Rally is awesome, already one of my most played racing games on Steam. Its challenging but so fun when you are actually focused and driving well. No rewind makes it super intense. wish I had a wheel for it

Game's legit, but (right 3) I'm continually coming in (hard left 6, jump) dead last with my car barely resembling (don't cut) a car at all. This shit's (hairpin left) difficult, and I don't understand all the technicalities of how my car works (medium left, 3 right, shallow cut). Glad I bought it though (to finish). Seriously though, good times. I just suck to the point I'm always last and spend more time off the track than on it.

For replays, is there a way to get a helicopter view instead of just cycling through the one's I have when playing? I can rotate on the external, but I can't find a way to have cinematic passes or long shots. Using a controller.

@MirkoS77: what I've found is starting off in the 60's era of cars...they aren't 4WD.

You don't have to go really fast to earn good cash. You can go an average of 55mph and come in 3rd if you keep your race clean.

Then gradually move up.

I'm sure it's 10x easier with the 4WD cars.

Whoever decided that course in Switzerland with the snow that curves every which way and that's only 8 feet wide the entire time was an enjoyable run should be dragged out in the street and shot. I was swearing up a storm just trying to get through it. Argh.

This mean that the game is a waste of time. The copilot killed us both!

yea this is important to realize, its generally good enough to drive consistently but not win stages and end up in the top 3 with your cumulative time. Top 3 is good enough to progress to the next championship tier.

I'm up to the second hardest Rally championship tier and I've probably won like 5 stages (and at the level I'm at, a championship has 6 events with 10 stages each I believe)

Also, cars get upgraded over time just by driving them, and your opponents won't get better so it gets easier to place well the longer you use the same car (though you probably won't want to play through the entire game with a 60's or 70's vehicle). I've been using a fully upgraded 1995 Subaru Empreza (Impreza?) for the tougher championships

You should just focus on winning experience and credits since getting first is just for those that can truly master the game or simply get a little lucky in a run.

The way the difficulty in this game works is that the fastest AI is always the same on Open all the way to Master. The only thing the changes is the amount of stages and the times of the 2nd fastest AI downwards. So basically on Open the 2nd fastest AI will be, for example, like around a minute(maybe even more) below the time of the fastest AI and in Master it will only be a few seconds.

I have reached the Masters Championship with like around 10 stage wins and only one Rally win, and while I did manage in my first try to advance in Open, Clubman and unexpectedly Elite I did hit a wall with Professional which I had to repeat like five times. So that is a ridiculously low winning percentage for the amount of rallies and events I have competed in. It's also important to note that I played with the cars in category order so I started with a 60's one then on the next championship I jumped to a 70's one and so on. I suppose that if you stick with one you will get even better.

Also now that I mentioned credits does anyone know if v.1.1 on PC finally fixes the zero credits for repairs bug? Haven't played in a while. Tried to see on Steam Forums but I just saw people complaining about some bug that blurs the textures of the car with this new version and didn't saw anything on the patch notes, yet I don't know how many patches there have been since the last time I played, I think it was v.1.03.

@gmak2442: co pilots in these games have never really impressed me. A hair pin turn sometimes is not and so on.

You can change him to either be earlier or late.

I chose late bc as it is I just do the course as it comes bc I can't really rely on the copilot.

I played this with a controller and it works fine, managed to reach Masters on all three specialties. Hell, I played Richard Burns Rally back then when controllers didn't had triggers and also managed to play on hard as well.

haha yea I understand that, the game has had me on Newegg looking at Logitch G27's a few times. I can tell by the handling the game would be so much fun with a wheel. Just can't justify the purchase for one game

Played some Dirt on PC, the first one, and liked it. Wasn't super excited about it, though. I'm more of an arcade racing game dude. Burnout, Need for Speed, Mario Kart, F-Zero. These are way more fun to me.

Try DiRT 2 then. Best arcade racer after Burnout Revenge. The only racing game I had more fun with in the last few years was Forza Horizon 2.
