What is worse... getting up for 20 seconds to switch a disc, or to wait 10 minutes for a mandatory installation so as to avoid extremely long load times?

Blu-ray isn't necessary at all. Disc swapping is not an issue. It never will be an issue. It was only ever an issue on the Playstation and even then it wasn't that bad. I love how cows have spun disc swapping as bad and justification for using a disc with slower read speed and higher storage space... making load times longer, just so you can ship a game with uncompressed data.

blu ray is necessary since the ps3 uses. just like when the ps2 started people were saying DVD is not necessary

I will take 10 second disc swapping over slow load times and/or 20 minute installs anyday!

Unless someone is too lazy (or fat) to get up and swap a disc every 10-20 hours, it's no problem. Even PS3 owners swap discs when you wanna play a different game so I don't see the problem with this

If Blu-ray is actually "necessary" why don't PC games ship on Blu-ray discs? They can have installs up to and including things over 20GB's... and yet ship on DVD's. You can install games to the 360 HDD as well.

You still haven't explained why Blu-ray is necessary. I've refuted any "need" the industry has of it. DVD's can and will suffice until digital distribution replaces physical media distribution. We don't "need" better physical media, especially when hard disks and installation to a hard disk is so much better than streaming from a disc.

Only Cows think disk swapping is an issue when really it's not, they are just taking a little thing and blowing it out of proportion. Frankly if they are going to make any criticisms they had best make sure they aren't in a position for criticism, mandatory installations from a 50GB disk?

This coming from a PC gamer by the way, I don't have to even use a disk to play my games; and I am saying now disk swapping is not an issue.

_SWAG_

hardly.

Say GTA 4 is on 2 discs for 360 and 1 for PS3?

Well, with the Xbox there is:

-stick with disk swapping, roughly 10-15 seconds to change discs.

-install the 2nd disk, or install both, eliminates disk swapping either way and cuts down load times.

PS3- load screens are numerous, very numerous in GTA 4, the extra time from beginning to end would easily accumulate 1-1/2 hours of looking at load screens.

the extra load times go for any game actually, so you tell me: how switching a disk 1-3 times accumulating 1 minute is worse than a portion or more of an hour?

the ONLY advantage otherwise is the layer of poly on Blu-Ray disks, for those who have poor coordination and find ways to accumulate major scratches.

It seems like cows are just grasping for straws these days. They can't even find real arguments to bash the 360.

You said this before you said the other comment. Is it really the cows who are grasping for something?

The installation comment was made to show TC how silly his logic is. Nice try.

Disc swapping is fine by me. Forza 3 was 2 discs, but you could install the 2nd and play with the one disc.

So much for Blu ray not being necessary. According to Microsoft the 360 is barely half way through it lifecycle and already more and more multi disc games are popping up. Swapping discs around might not be a big deal for most people, but it does show how wrong many people were when they said that DVD capacity would be enough for this generation. Another 12 months and we may well statr to see most 360 games coming with more than one disc.

Cows, stick with "we have UC2!". i hate hassles, but i doubt ill have a lot of trouble swapping a disk every 2-3 hours, and it will be likely less often then that. during installation on the PC you had to do that, no biggie whatsoever

You swap disks every time you change games don't you? Not much difference. Popping in another disk after several hours of gameplay is hardly an issue.

Most XBox 360 games are on 1 disc. The PS2 didn't have any problems with it, why would the XBox 360? The PS2 has way more games that were on multiple disks then the 360 has, yet it still sold over 130 systems and millions and millions of games. Your theory on the matter has failed miserably.

The installations are long then that. . My Hot Shots Golf took almost 20mins. PS3 Updates take 1015mins to download and then another 10-15mins to install. Disk swapping takes what, 5 secs?

not nearly as much as the 8 minute installs MGS4 had EVERY chapter. :| seriously you cows are so pathetic when this is really the main argument you come up with time after time. Honestly, I love Uncharted 2 but I have yet to find one single 360 game that takes as long to load up the title screen compared to that game. Then we have Killzone2 which has some of the worst loading times I've seen in a FPS in a very long time. While I'm at it, let's look at how long the loading can take for a pointless feature such as HOME. :lol: At least the marketplace on PSN has been improved but while you cows poke fun at a minor point, you grossly fail to see just how weak your console is in ALL other areas. BTW, I do own a PS3 and if you don't believe me, feel free to send me a friend request. Same name as I use here and on XBL. :)

LOL at all the insecure 360 boys in here:lol:

Did they find a way to concentrate you all into one thread or something?

I love the way you guys are all trying to water down this issue, like you do with any advantage the PS3 has over 360. For example "I've only had to send in my 360 for repairs 4 times and not get to play it for a month each time, not a big deal at all considering that the online experience is a million times better than PS3's!".

On the flip side however, any advantage 360 has is always greatly exaggerated. 360 has way better games!(not according to metacritc), the 360 GPU is way better than PS3's!(hello Uncharted 2), the latest bunch of new 360's are totally reliable(wow, that's great news for the 30 million+ 360 owners who already own a potentially faulty console).

And btw, disc swapping is hardly the only problem with M$ rehashing DVD this generation. MOST games won't be multidisc, they will simply be shorter games than they could have been, they will have less variety in textures, have mediocre audio quality, etc. Enjoy:)

On the flip side however, any advantage 360 has is always greatly exaggerated. 360 has way better games! (not according to metacritc)mztazmz

They do, along with better exclusives & greater sales for it.

the 360 GPU is way better than PS3's! (hello Uncharted 2)mztazmz

The only reason why we haven't seen such UC2 graphically-like exclusives on the 360 is because MS developers don't put in the effort, time, & money to make their exclusives look the same as UC2. And the only reason why UC2 has such "great graphics" is because of talent from the developers, not due to the hardware. Plus give it the same amount of time, money, & the graphics will come out to be the same on the 360. Oh, & Crysis wipes the floor with UC2 in that category, as well as gameplay. Given the choice, I'd take talent (which is what most MS exclusives are)over the so-called "superior" graphics (which is what some of Sony's exclusives are).

the latest bunch of new 360's are totally reliable (wow, that's great news for the 30 million+ 360 owners who already own a potentially faulty console).mztazmz

At least they don't have to worry about paying Sony half the price of a brand new slim PS3 just for them to fix it. Not only that, but what about the Blu-Ray lens weakening over time when it comes to playing Blu-Ray movies too much? Or receiving the YLOD? Or bricking your system due to a firmware update? Nope, the latter two aren't covered through their 1-year warranty.

I'm use to swapping discs for both 360 and PS3. On the 360, a game or two are in two discs, on the PS3 there's blu ray movies with two or even three discs. Why can't those blu ray movies and extra content just be on one disc?! Disc swapping is not a big deal at all. :lol:

You'd have to be pretty damn lazy to not wanna get up for like 5 seconds, pop out the disc and put in another one. I wonder with cows, do they not play any other games besides the one in the console at the moment since they don't like getting up to change the disc? Maybe that's why games sell less on PS3 cause the cows are too lazy to get up and change a game lol :lol:

Enjoy:)

METACRITIC.COM (360)

AAA = 26
AA = 153
A = 222

METACRITIC.COM (PS3)

AAA = 19
AA = 123
A = 131

Nice way to FAIL! :lol:

[QUOTE="skinny_man_69"] The fanboy is strong in this one. I don't see the big deal in swapping discs. It takes like...what 2 seconds? 93soccer

Longer than 2 seconds, you have to move, it ruins the immersion. Why defend disc swapping? It may not be the worst thing in the world, but it does indeed suck ass.

They honestly seem to forget that they also had to change discs in certain games back in the PS1 days.

Maybe it's because these fanboys weren't even born those days.

LOL. Guess what? The PC also uses DVD's for games. Should they need Blu-Ray as well?:roll:

I agree.......i don't have any problem with this,Crysis the best looking game in on DVD.
