DKCountry: Tropical Freeze reivew is up, 6/10, FLOPPAGE

It's acceptable when it is on the convenience of the fanboys. System wars rule state that this game flopped harder than TLOU.

@Life-is-a-Game: It's not just Nintendo haters, but all the trolls/alts that have plagued this board for the past few years. They can't handle themselves when others don't share their views, they get mad and say ridiculous things, get banned, make new accounts and rinse/repeat.

None of the regulars act that way, because they're normal gamers and normal people who can communicate with others in a civil and mature way to talk about their differences and disagreements. That's why they never get their accounts banned and are consistently good posters.

These new "warriors" have adopted shameful and honor-less tactics of lies and confusion in a feeble and delusional attempt to disrupt the enemy the only way their powerless minds can. Very shameful stuff.

g0ddy cntinues is anti-Nintendo tirade, I see. Even overlooking that some not-so pro-Nintendo sites (ex: Game Informer, GameTrailers, and Destructoid) gave it high praise.

Now, to further my explanation. I am not saying that GS is always bias with reviews or always just trying to drive traffic. However there have been several incidents recently at a time where traffic has been low. I have been around these parts for years for a reason... this has been my favorite site for years...and that is not because I thought the reviews were bad. However, with that being said... they are now. Not all, but most.

Well.. who is to say they are bad? Me? No... I guess not.. however, when there are constant discrepancies with scores that just aren't adding up it make you wonder what is going on. most everybody I knew for years here has moved on to other more reliable sites... and it is no secret that traffic here has fallen off like crazy. Also, if you have not noticed the incredible amount of bias front page articles and ads you must be oblivious to reality. One day it's nothing but X1 ads and how it is the best console, and the next it's all about PS4. Perhaps people think that is to show how diverse they are? You think those ads are being hosted by this site free of charge? How about the fact you can click on them and they route you to another website? Traffic hits are driving monetary values... that was NOT SOMETHING the Gamespot I knew was all about.

Anyways, part of the console/system wars game was always that metacritic and other averaging sites did not matter... I played along and could agree with that when the competence of the website was top notch. These days it is little less than system wars and a cash grab. I own all three consoles and two gaming PC's, so when I see things out of place it makes me question things. When the AVERAGE score here is nearly 25 points under average from about 40 sites it seems a little odd... not to mention it's the LOWEST score. Seems like something like this happened with another blockbuster title not too long ago... hmmmm.

I have not added a game to my owned list in forever because of how much the quality of this site has deteriorated... at the same time I have not built my game list on another site either...perhaps because it would be so much work.

I will stay here because of my time invested and having no other place I think is any better. I am starting to lean towards giving IGN a closer look... however I'm not a fan of their forums.

Saying IGN is where every fan goes to see an inflated score? Really? You have some proof of that? I don't even know if I have an account there.... I think I have one at giantbomb... and.. that's about it... this is about the only forum I ever come to anymore other than the H-Hour forums for sofstudios.com where I work as a moderator.

Saying Metacritic never takes a stand IS THE POINT. It is an average of ALL half way respected game review outlets. Personally I don't look into reviews as being serious anyways since they are little more than opinion and I buy whatever I want regardless of reviews because I usually buy first and look second. I know some people don't have that luxury though and they depend on reliable sources to help make their purchasing easier. If I was here for the reviews I would have been gone a long time ago.

It is fun to watch people get upset when a game they thought was going to get scored well flop though... just like with this game.... lol.

If I were a sheep and getting upset that would be truly hilarious... but I have seen this happen recently with more than one of the big 3. If the trend continues it would be kind of hard for me to take even the console war arguments as being a true source of entertainment value due to laughable starting values.

well.. now that I have wrote my book it's time to find a publisher. lol.. No shots taken man. Seems we just have a slightly different opinion of how things have been shaping up around here as of late. I don't know how long you have been a member here, so if you haven't seen a shift in professionalism... maybe it is just me. I truly didn't know why this site had lost so many great members over the years until just recently.

I enjoy it. There's apple and peach, but chocolate is my favorite.

I was never planning to pick this up at launch, either borrow it or pick it up if I see it for cheaper. Looks good, like I've said earlier it always appeared to be more imaginative than the predecessor. I can't wait to hear from others on this board about what their thoughts are on the matter.

Well for one thing I rarely see the front page of this site. I have a quick link straight to this forum. Even so, I accept that this is an ad-based site and so many aspects of the presentation will be paid for by different companies. However, there is an astronomical logical leap between the engineered elements of the site presentation and coming to the conclusion the the reviews must be compromised to drive that advertising dollar as well. At the end of the day it is much more profitable to give quality reviews because that that trust will keep people coming back.

However there are many conspiracy theorist types who will say there is proof that this system is corrupted and will point to any little aberration or questionable decision as proof. Just like with other conspiracy theories, those opinions represented a disenfranchised and loud minority.

There is years and years of evidence that IGN inflates their scores. There is the occasional example of a lower score on IGN but both cases the cause is the same: they release their reviews quickly and don't do a thorough job. The best way to cover up this deficiency is to give a higher score because that way fewer people will question their decisions. A Halo fan would care more about a low Halo score than a high Uncharted score.

Reviewers are imperfect people and they are judging art, which is inherently impossible to be definitive about. I can only judge my review sources based on the many years that I've experienced them over time. I see little to no corruption in Gamespot. I see corruption painted all over Metacritic.

Lastly, I see a need for reviews and review scores. The ideal would be to play the games myself. I don't have time for that. The next best idea would be to look past the scores and read as many written reviews as possible. I don't have time for that either. There are leagues of games that I just do not have time to judge in a fair way, and so I need sources that I can trust. Gamespot has steered me wrong before, and will again. In general they are a good source though.

Mt. Honest, actually. Unless you selectively read my post you'd see I was talking about alt trolls, not long time users like you or I. I've never posted in such a stupid way and neither have you, if I recall correctly.

Never took you for having a hippy mentality who supports an "anything goes" policy. If you're gonna take up for animal savagery type posting that gets you banned and has you making new accounts every month that no one else likes, then you should feel bad. Very very bad.

And don't give me that "don't be a wiener" knuckle-dragging philosophy here, where GS just updated the TOU for SW and wont tolerate wild wild west type of posting. The "anything goes" mentality would be fine if it were actually true, but you can't just say things as we'd all like to here, so the alt accounts win because they have noting to lose vs regulars who'd get long-term accounts banned (aka Blabadon) for sinking to their level of idiocy.

Big difference from being a regular SW fanboy vs those that live it 24/7 irl. Example: you could say "sony sucks, I don't like them and here's why" or you could make dozens of alt accounts and stay on SW all day, erry day while scouring the net for bullshit articles, leave your basement once a blue moon and take a magic marker to PS4 game cases at the local GS and write "THIS IS SHIT!!!!" on every one.

It’s a Nintendo first party game, what did you expect? Nintendo can do nothing except re-hash and re-make the same old tired and worn out franchises they have been for decades. All they do is take a series, look at its last successful point in time and then just do the same thing allover again.

Even their hardware is just the same old thing slightly altered. 2ds is a 3ds, 3ds is just a ds with a 3d gimmick. The wii us is a wii with a new controller and the wii was just a gamecube with a new controller. Their hardware hasn’t really changed much in 10 years or more.

LR actually received a 5 and that was being ultra generous. That game is trash and tons of review sites said as much. DKTP has high scores all over and the GS review is on the bottom.

I'm sure I'd like it, and I would buy it if U owned a WiiU. Despite GS's score it's prolly gonna sell a butt-load of copies...I guess that's all I have to say about that...

To which I always add, why does GS even do Nintendo reviews? You're not doing it for anyone who may be interested in them. Most gaming websites don't review hardware or movies. P.S. Not saying that it should only receive positive reviews, but if you already made up your mind about games before reviewing them, then the only purpose remaining is for entertainment. Like when Angry Joe or TB or Yahtzee reviews a game that you know is horrible.

If you want to cover Nintendo games then maybe you could hire a reviewer who is at least interested in the kinds of titles Nintendo makes. Otherwise you're going to create a huge growing disconnect between the world out there and your reviewers.

It's going to be tough to get through this week (all 6am morning shifts to boot)... This is the biggest release of the year for me and it's killing me to wait a little longer. I've read a lot of reviews so far and it sounds like Retro focused exactly on what I wanted them to. I just know it's going to exceed my already lofty expectations.
