Keep it up Capcom. Only a few more series left until you have destroyed everything you have ever published/developed

ninja theory terrible devs? hardly...they make some really fine games, their games arent about the prettiest graphics, there about interesting ideas, interesting stories, and some damn fine animationsI've already given my thoughts on it, but any oppurtunity to rip on this game is a good one:
First thing I noticed was the visuals (obviously). To put it nicely, they suck. Devil May Cry 4 from 2008 looks better, and runs at double the framerate.
Dante still looks like a tool. No change there.
Now, the combat. Slooooooooooooooooooow. So slow it hurts. And it just looks sterile. Clearly Ninja Theory is trying to ape the flashiness of the previous games, but they're terrible developers so of course they got it wrong. They're trying to make moves flashy rather than making the flashiness derive naturally from the execution of moves...there's probably a better way to phrase that. Previous Devil May Cry games were fun to play and looked fun to play. Right now, DmC is failing on both counts.

Wasn't impressed at all. DMC will fail hard because Capcom isn't making it and thats too bad cause its one of my favorite franchises.
Haters gonna hate. Dante and his moves look more stylish than ever. Atleast cinematic wisehttp://www.ign.com/videos/2011/06/07/e3-2011-devil-may-cry-trailer
Well im not on the hate bandwagon yet. However I know some of you are so bring on the hate.

Looks freaking amazing, some people are just hard to please. I loved the messages in the trailer asell "their truth is a lie", "their city is an illusion", "do not accept the world as it is" LOVE IT! Definitely getting a feeling of illuminati, mk ultra, the powers that be, type of theme.
Love the graphics, love the artsyle, and Dante looks great!
The music was great in the trailer.
Can't wait to see more of it.
[QUOTE="linkin_guy109"]
Gotta stop you right there. Having played both Heavenly Sword and Enslaved it's clear Ninja Theory is all about presentation, an area in which they do somewhat succeed. I'll give them credit and say their mo-cap work is great and they sure know how to pick their VAs. They very obviously put effort into their visuals, but they're just outdone by so many other developers, and the other guys do it without limping below 30fps.
[QUOTE="linkin_guy109"]there about interesting ideasSlashkice
You can't possibly be referring to gameplay, can you? If you are I can only respond with: play more games.
interesting storieslinkin_guy109
They can make interesting stories, they just unfortunately can't make good ones. Enslaved was tangled in cliches with one of the most terrible endings in recent times. Heavenly Sword was too short for it's own good, to the point you just couldn't give a damn about the characters or the world around you since the game never made a point to invest in them.
Wow I really disagree with thegood story comment. I thought enslaved and heavenly sword had both good stories and cast. I will back you up though on the combat side well at least enslaves combat. I thought HS played pretty well and was fun and fast.
You misspelled Edward, this surely isn't a DMC game. I think Capcom may have to sue for copyright infringement, and slander, clearly it's all a smear campaign on the franchise and a cash grab.Lmao look at how stupid Dante looks.

Lol. This isn't Dante. It's some dude who got his haircut at the flea market.

Seriously, Dante had style this guy got a coat he stole from a homeless guy and a mullet hair cut.
Am I the only person who doesn't hate it? I'm intrigued by how the story and acting will turn out. :)
Oh, and apparently, Dante can now turn into a super Saiyan! :P
Edit: Personally, I dig the hip-hop influenced track in the trailer (loved the metal in the other DMCs, too). But, Dante does look like he just got out of rehab, lol. Eat some greasy pizza; put on some weight, dude!

Oh, man, that's good.
So now his hair changes colour when powering up?? is he saiyan? anyway im not impressed. I don't like DMC anymore. 3 was the best IMO and will never be topped
So...Anyone notice how they shoehorned a more "Traditional" looking dante into the picture with that ultra slowmo scene? his hair went white and his jacket red from fancy camera effect. Anyways I think I'll do what the trailer suggested and aknowledge that this world "Dante" is in...is a lie and the real trailer will be out eventually...right? If the game remains to look like this and feel like this I'm chalking it up to Capcom litteraly wanting to destroy all of it's franchises. I look at this trailer -No smart remarks from Dante -No epic style -Not even visceral -Enemy design is terrible -Animations look meh "even if it's all pre-rendered non ingame footage and thats bad -_-" This game just doesn't feel like Devil may Cry, why Capcom...why did you have to outsource one of your big name franchises?Jynxzor
I hope the trailer does like it says and this is all an illusion. The real Dante will pop out and will have the fast pace stylish action back.
I think the hater are scrambling a little bit after seeing the trailer, its alot more DMC than they thought it would be, and of course NT will imrpove everything around the gameplay as well.
This is very refreshing after the "meh" that was DMC4.
Still looks like a DMC game to me....YOUNG dante (presumeablyin his teens?) looks fine to me
i mean who's to say he always looked like he did in all the DMC games? as long as the story backs up his looks then i'm fine with it.....so really it's the story for me that's going to make or break this game for me...not dantes looks
also it'll how the gameplay handles in MY hands...obviously that trailer used some slowmo in it so we still don't know how fast it actually is....but as for that moves go and what dante can do....still seems like some DMC to me
the amount of negativity is astounding in this thread based off two trailers....and the bulk of it is based only on dantes looks
the enviorements seems lifeless... too "squareish" like the castlevanias for ps2, graphics look pretty bad, combat seems like DMC1 but less fluid, plus... well.. u know... the new dante... at least its seems like his hair will change to white through the game, last trailer only a portion of his hair was white, in this trailer every part is black, then turns to white during that deviltrigger thing.
@those who say this is a prequel and may not be a reboot It has already been clearly established that Dante is Japanese and the new Dante is English so you're wrong kthxbye! ^.^ Nerkcon
It's an origin story.
About halfway through.

I did appreciate that his demon form seems to be reminiscent of the adult Dante. Just like the Super Saiyans learn to permanently maintain the state, so does Dante as an adult, which in turn makes way for a proper Devil Trigger. Phew, nerded all over myself there.
I don't even mind his taste in clothes all that much. A pair of worn, leathery baggy pants instead of his current second hand stockings and he'd look just fine. He'd still look like a misfit addict but at least it would'nt scream prepubescent identity crisis at me ;)

Again, they said themselves it is a reboot. Since Ninja Theory is big on story it would makes since they would do some sort of origin story, and its a origin story to the reboot not the old DMC. Are you telling me that at the end of the new DMC Dante is going to somehow turn Japanese at the end of the game? This new Dante doesn't even have the same body structure as the old Dante.[QUOTE="OneSanitarium"][QUOTE="Nerkcon"]@those who say this is a prequel and may not be a reboot It has already been clearly established that Dante is Japanese and the new Dante is English so you're wrong kthxbye! ^.^ Nerkcon

I've got it, I've got it. It's being viewed from the eyes of an Emo playing DMC, and at the end of the game, the camera will pan out and it'll be regular good ol' cheesy Dante, with the polish we expect from the series.[QUOTE="OneSanitarium"][QUOTE="Nerkcon"]@those who say this is a prequel and may not be a reboot It has already been clearly established that Dante is Japanese and the new Dante is English so you're wrong kthxbye! ^.^ Nerkcon

I'm only telling you that it IS an origin story.
I think one of us is confused here, OneSanitarium. I think you're saying it is not a reboot and this is the origin story for DMC which is the same one it is just a prequel that takes place even before 3. I am saying it is both a reboot and this game is the origin story for the reboot only and does not apply to the old DMC games. It is also just called DMC, instead of DMC 5 or DMC: The beginning. This new DMC is an origin story is a new first game for a new DMC entirely.Nerkcon
It's attempting to tell how things got to how they were in DMC3 from my understanding. Which is moot, because DMC3, in and of itself, is an origin story. Where Dante is a teenager, no much older than DmC Dante.
I guess we'll have to wait for more info on the story to come out and judge.
Yes it definitely looks like DMC but I wasn't expecting a complete departure considering Capcom would cancel it then. But do you know how many games look like each other at first glance ? This title definitely looks more like a budget DMC clone rather than the real deal.Looks like a DMC game...
dommeus
Looks better than I expected. Like some are saying, they are trying to get DMC feel which is a good thing ;they didn't completely change the combat style. However, I would like to see more gameplay footage before making a judgment on the gameplay (a two minute trailer is hardly enough).Oh, and nice to see the old Dante there for a few seconds. Hopefully, the original Dante is an unlockable costume.
The only things I disliked from the trailer are the animations and art-style. The art design/visuals looks weird for a DMC game and worse than DMC4, and the animations look awful, imo. They could polish that up depending on how much time they have.
