the 5gig install doesn't both me, isn't that what the hdd is for?hiryu3
I own 40 games for my 360, that would require me to own a 200Gig HDD if that was the case. It shouldn't be what it's for.

I knew that it would still have load times after the install, "lets think that youbeat one level and it jumps instantly into the next level. Come on PS3 fans are kidding themselves, there will always be load times.

You obviously haven't played Uncharted.

 The cell isn't shining like I thought it would.
It isn't shining like Sony thought it would either. That's why they sold their share in that technology.

5GB for a 1 second loading difference is rediculous and no that is not what the HD is for, it's just a total waste of space. Your not even installing the game just part of it to improve loading times which has no benefits whatsoever other than 1 second loading time difference. Nice :|
With that 5 GIG I could store thousands of songs, picstures, and some games from the PS Store.
Chances are more likely this is the exact same reason many games made primarily on 360 and ported to the PS3 are inferior on the PS3. Capcom probably tried to make the PS3 version as if they were programming for 360 ****hardware, and to deal with the different hardware and specs of the PS3 they make you install to the HDD.
Basically they didn't use the PS3 hardware properly and the install is their way of hiding it.
On IGN's latest podcast, they state the PS3 version is a seamless experience, load times are almost non-existant. And when there are, they are a half-second to a second.
They stated the 360 version load times are about 5-10 seconds.
Who knows.

I would believe so.
[QUOTE="JiveT"]Because if you didn't install you could cook a turkey while it's loading.mmirza23exactly, I believe this is due to the slower read speed of the BR drive, but sill you would think with 5gb installation there shouldnt be any load times but then I remembered oblivion, however oblivion was a massive game this one doesnt seem as epic in scale, anyway good post TC, by tthe way did you get the regular version or the SE?
Blu-ray isn't slower, explain Uncharted then. The most demanding game graphically on any console and ZERO load time. I can play the game start to finish with no load times. Oblivion on PS3 loads faster on PS3 as well. Blu-ray is faster than X360 DVD especially when you start talking about DVD9 and Dual layer DVD disks. The speed for DVD drops dramatically.
I played the other three DMC's on a Playstation controller, I had every reason to buy it for PS3 but a 5GB install?
While I may have been one of the stupid few to buy a 60GB at launch, I can imagine how annoying that is to the 20gb owners.
I guess its the 360 version for me.

QFT.
The PS3's 2x BR drive is slow compared to the x360's 12x DVD drive. It's one reason why devs want to install PS3 games to the HDD
IGN stated it was 25-30 seconds to load for the 360 and 1 second load for the PS3... :|
I hear 1up is very very very credible... :|
[QUOTE="Kahuna_1"]Wonder why Capcom forces you to install..makes no sense at all.
BioShockOwnz
Indeed. I can understand if it cut out all load times, but it doesn't. Why wait for 30-40 minutes to install a game and eat up 5GB's when the load times on both versions are basically the same? Lame.
well how long would the load times be if there wasn't the install. i'm sure they tried that at first internally.

Yeah.. really lame. I've pre-ordered the XBox 360 version anyways. Can't wait to try this game. I'm Capcom made both games pretty equal. Besides the rumble on the 360 version, both games should look and play exactly the same. Kudos to Capcom.

What the hell are you talking about. The game was made first on the PS3 and ported to the 360. The installing on the PS3 has nothing to do with the 360 version. If Capcom didn't use the PS3 hardware properly, that's Capcom's fault. They started the game on the PS3 long before the 360 version.

Uhmmm....I never said they ported to the PS3. I said the reason the game needs to be installed is for the same reason ports aren't as good. That being inefficient or improper useof the hardware.Developers still have this idea in their head that all development should always and forever be PC style and they are reluctant to ever do anything different. The 360 is much closer in hardware style to PC, so they naturally like it better.
I never blamed anybody BUT Capcom so I fail to see why you are getting so angry and defensive.
However, I will also add that i am right now listened to the latest 1up podcast, and they state what others have already said. While the install is long for the PS3, there is no loading in the game. It is a seamless experience. So clearly the tc is completely wrong. DMC for PS3 does not have loading when you play. If it does, it is so short that you don't even notice it.

I'd wait for reviews as IGN sayafter the install it is a pretty seamless experience while the 360 version is 5-10 minutes.

probably, Uncharted doesnt make you install though and there are zero load times in that game...
Capcom you lazy dummies
Arent Uncharteds areas like small as hell?
IGN PODCAST STATED THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE WITH PS3 VERSION BEING A SEAMLESS EXPERIENCE AND 360 5-10 SECONDS.
WHY ARE PEOPLE SAYING ITS EQUAL AFTER INSTALL UR WRONG ACCORDING TO IGN
there's one already, and the game actually looks a bit better on the xbox 360.Overall ill end up getting the 360 version. Its total lulz that they expect you to install 5gb onto your hard drive before you can even play the game. If it wasn't for this though the load times for the ps3 version would be dramatically increased.
No graphics comparison has been out as far as i can see so ill wait for that. Though still making you install 5gb on your hard drive? If any sony fanboy can look them self in the mirror and say that's perfectly fine then they are totally nuts! PS3 is not a PC sony!! Stop trying to make it out like one.

S: "So I got the review build of DMC4, and I don't know if this is just for the review build, but during the lengthy PS3 initial HDD install, they recap the entire story and several cutscenes in previous DMC games."
G: "Oh, that's cool."
S: "What's interesting, is that installing the game on the HDD gets rid of the load times. I mean, to see yourself -- HD, 60 fps, in this massive, gorgeous exterior outside, go up to a door leading to a castle, and just instantanteously enter into a massive cathedral hall that is ornately detailed is oustanding. There is no loading, absolutely zero loading."
B: "That's awesome."
S: "I also have to say, that in terms of graphics -- this game looks phenemonal in HD, aboslutely gorogeous. And I'm saying this after having played Uncharted, Ratched -- DMC4 looks phenemonal, this will blow your socks off.
B: "I agree, when I saw it last month I was blown away."

BEHOLD the power of the CELL! :P
... So someone is lying.
ROFL. It's so funny how even in a... venue, i guess, such as "video games" that we can't even get a straight answer, or rather, we find it necessary tolie/argue about something as meaningless as which version of a video game has the better "texture" in a particular level, or which will "load faster".
Sure does look like the human race has a purpose!
Man I'm owning everyone in CoD 4.
