That's a hard question to answer and you're going to get no competent or accurate response here or from anyone. No one knows how large the active PlayStation 3 user base still is not to mention it entirely depends on the game, some could have thousands, some could have zero.

Your only option is to hop online and find out for yourself.

Yeah its still pretty solid! Should be able to find a 2k game no worries. Same for GTA5 (I'd assume)

It'll depend on the games. I'm sure a bunch of people still rock their PS3's, or haven't made the move to the PS4/Xbone yet.

You can still get a surprising amount of people to play Demon's Souls. It isn't like the old days, but I still get a player for Old Monk from time to time.

I've played CoD4 and MW3 not long ago (maybe a month ago) and was able to get into matches with ease. Of course they didn't have 800,000 people playing like at their peak, but more then enough to play team death match with no worries.

Pretty sure they were back up, that thing in may was just a false alarm type deal. More an error, than an honest to god shut down.

Yep. I'm sure GTA still has a lot of people. Even the legendary KZ2 has 100 people logged in at peak times. The COD noob games im sure more active too.

I'd say yes because it's cheaper and has free online.

Many people still use PS3 for online games, because it's to only free service on consoles worth a damn.

Definitely.

I find games on all the popular games easily. Heck I still find COD4 games despite it being nearly 10 years old. Plenty of people still playing PS3. COD Ghosts on PS3 usually has 14k people online at its peak and about 2k during the night for example.
