Do consoles have to do with age?

Let me explain, I have been a PC gamer since I can remember, but now I can barely stand installing games and fixing errors, and patching bla bla bla. I just feel like it's easier to play on the console. A bunch of my friends (the older ones), have also «migrated» from the PC to the consoles, because they wanted to come home, sit and enjoy the game without having to care with optimization issues and whatever.

According to Microsoft, their fanbase consists of sweaty 30 year olds in metallica t-shirts. But going from the Call of Duty community, you could say over a half consists of 12 year olds and the other half are brogamers that grew up with hardcore games like Halo. :lol:

So it depend on the console and the mindset.
I've always been a console and PC gamer, both have their benefits and they complement each other.

I use my PC a lot, but I barely play on it anymore. I'm more of a gamer on the console.

Most children couldn't even afford the video card in my rig when I got it, let alone an entire system. I'm pretty sure the average age of a PC gamer is older then the average age of a console gamer, Especially since it's more expensive and complicated.

I'm not saying there isn't a group of gamers who switch because they don't wan't to deal with PC issues after work. I know a few guys like that. But the skill set, and money required for PC gaming proper is usually far away from reality for 15 years olds.

Consoles for kiddos and PCs for adults. That's the way it is and I like itSamiRDuran

As far as platforms go i'd say they all their fair share of each age group. Although, the Wii likely has a larger young audience due to the amount of kid-friendly games. Same could be said for the older folks cause lets face it I dont see too many baby boomers playing Halo or Call of Duty, lol.

I'd say PC is for young adults and adults, whereas consoles (especially xbox 360) are for younger people - I have 3 cousins under 12 years old that play MW3 on Xbox 360. :o

PC= for whiny kids and elitist

People game on whatever their parents give them until they are old enough to have a job. PC seems to be most popular the older you get but if you take out the MMO crowd I have a feeling ages will be about the same across most systems.

Steam is as idiot proof as consoles. It's even easier, since you don't have to waste your valuable adult time running to a store.WithoutGraceXII

It was great fun last gen and prior to go to the gamestore and just buy something if the back cover sounded interesting. Now this gen I'm much more involved with gaming news and while I certainly have less disappointing purchases it was magical making a good purchase just from window shopping. :P

I do computer work and when I get home (and most people I work with) I prefer PC gaming over consoles. Console gaming is nice every now and then (I have a Wii) but if I want to do some serious gaming PC is the only way to go. Consoles are just too restrictive, dumbed down, and have an overall lower quality of graphics and gameplay.

Yes I have played both 360 and PS3. It was fun but at the end of the day I still end up back on PC.

They do actual research, even if being limited to the range of community pockets that get polled, as most are.

But in the case of forum posters like you, it's nothing more than pulling sh1t out of your ass based only on how you want to see the picture, and not reflecting any actual data. You basically create your "results" instead of arriving at one from any kind of systematic process. I mean really, where did you get your numbers from? The handful of "homies" you know in your local hood?
