Poll Do gamers really stick to just one console? (82 votes)

Yea 40%
No 60%

10 years ago I would believe that, but in today's world where everyone owns a bunch of gadgets (phone, tablet, computer, games, etc), I find that harder to believe. Which brings me to my real question. Why can't Wii U still sell despite many people not viewing it as a primary console? Even at its current price, its still a relatively cheap investment compared to the money you have to put into ps4/x1.

Only if you want to severely gimp yourself. There are stellar titles across all platforms that are just begging to be played.

For the life of me, I'll never understand fanboys and their antics. How someone can openly worship a plastic box and completely denounce all other platforms is beyond me.

Cost and/or time.

My PC takes up a lot of time by itself, and when the rare game does release for a console that looks interesting, I find that there are another dozen or so good-looking PC titles waiting for me, and I've never had the money or time to sit and play them all, so there's always a stockpile of games for me to play on PC. Heck, even if I gamed 24/7 there'd still be games I miss on PC, I'm sure.

But the point is is that in some cases someone may have no need to drop $300+ on a system.

I agree about fanboyism though. I don't understand why people literally worship plastic boxes, and companies while wishing death upon others.

But as far as owning only one system? It happens, and it's not simply the result of fanboyism in all cases.

Generally I only stick with one console (currently have PS4 which will be my primary console). However I'm considering buying a secondary console for backup, maybe a Wii U. Not sure yet.

Invest in only one console. Instead of buying a second console; buy 3 more controllers, accessories or games.

If you want to stay current in everything, yah.

But even then, time just won't allow me (or anyone for that matter) to play every good game out there. It just isn't going to happen.

Once that realization hit me I stopped caring for the most part.

I like to enjoy all the games console wise, I got a PS4 but will be getting an Xbox One as well, I enjoy a lot of franchises for both brands. To be honest I know Nintendo has some great games, but I have barely any interest in it. I just don't want to pay for a console just for first party software. I love gaming and enjoy games, but even than I have a hard time keeping up with both systems.

have gamers ever only stuck to one system? As long as I can remember Ive had atlest 2 systems to play games on, maybe it is just you getting older and capable of dictating what you want TC, since I doubt that the habits of gamers have changed all that much.

Depends. For the young 'uns those who depend on mommy and daddy? Sure.

For those who can pay for their own consoles? They probably have more than one console.

Other way around to me. I used to own multiple systems (Amiga500 + Megadrive + Snes; PS + N64, or Dreamcast + PS2 + Xbox). Now one platform is more than enough for my free time: 360 last gen and PS4 this gen.

Right? LOL

I see people bragging about being able to buy all and then you see where they live, their debt, their inability to support many important life needs. Or they're in college and have almost zero responsibility and all disposable income.

Have a spouse, a couple of kids and you'll see how important owning all is.

As Ive said, its also moronic to own all even for the rich. A waste is a waste. Once we get a year into the gen, there will be more titles than most people have time for unless they pingeon-hole themselves into one genre........ (real-gamer style)

Can't call yourself a gamer with only one console. More like a loser. True hard core gamers have all systems no bias

Nah the person with a bunch a systems playing games all the time is loser if any one fits the criteria.

No, that's called TRUE GAMER. They're a rare breed who gets to enjoy whatever exclusives they feel like playing. No bias and just gaming bliss. Having the time to play everything is the only downside.

They would have to have a lot of money & a lot of time.

That's why they are a rare breed. lol!!

Oh it's not that much money to own all systems they are only a few hundred each. It's buying the games that gets expensive.

if you are going to base this on just forums, then yea most gamers have more than one console and have 500 games....but thats not how it is.

weather you like it or not, most gamers are casuals who only enjoy 2-3 games a year, buys from gamestop and probably has one console and maybe a handheld.

its why gta sells 29 million and games like psychonaut are commercial flops

I lived past gen with a PS3/PC combo and I never felt I was missing anything major other than some exclusive here and there that were not worthy of a console purchase. PS4 is all I'll need in the years to come

I currently have an Xbox One, Xbox 360 and a PS3. I'll probably say goodbye to the 360 and PS3 at the end of next year, and I may end up getting a PS4 in the future, depending on the quality of exclusive games getting released for it.

For the last 3 gens I got all the home consoles and started some gaming on the PC in 2004. This time, I may just stick with the PS4 and PC, plus I have the handhelds so there'll always be plenty to play away from home. I've just found the PlayStations to be the most satisfying consoles and have a preference for some of Sony's developers. At this point, I feel tired of Halo and Mario. The Wii U and Xbox One have some good games, but I'm just not seeing enough now, or coming up to make me want to get them.

One console or one system? I need to know which you really meant to ask before I vote. If you actually meant one console, then yes, I normally only buy one console to go with my PC and a handheld. If you mean only one system, then no, I would not settle for just one system, but if forced to do so, then PC is my obvious choice.

I prefer just having 1 control setup and I don't play games as much as others do to justify the cost of having more than 1.

I tend to be happy with just the one console, excluding handhelds. Currently I only have a PS3, had a 360 but didnt bother getting another one after I got the RROD. I'm planning on getting a PS4 next year, and unless Xbox One gets a few exclusive games I feel I must own, then I wont bother getting one of those.

If they do they are not gamers IMO. Just casuals that are cod or exclusive console fanboys.

Gaming as a "hobby" is nowhere near interesting enough to warrant the purchase of two or more consoles.

Agreed. Too many good games out there to limit yourself to one platform.
