i am of course talking about other game in the same genre like Bayonetta, NG, DMC ...etc

do these dereve to be fully priced ???? yes or no.

answer: BIG fat YES

reason:

Coz they are more fun than any other genre imo.

Despite being single play games, they have great replay value, especially when the combat is good enough like in NG.

Those who complain of low replayiblity can just watch some walkthrough on youtube, and stop complaining.

surprised that you were the one to write this.

I'll pitch in that I'd never pay $60 for the games listed. does it need to be set at $60? yeah, to pay for development costs.

Fun is too subjective to justify a price tag.

I play games more than once, usually many more times so they're worth it.

I do know there is a creeping mentality that is spreading, and that is that if a game doesn't have ONLINE MP, it's not worth owning.

It's interesting, and it's not just SW, it's people in our everyday life.

Yes, Games like COd and battle field feel no. Just give me the online componets of FPS for a reduced price you're single player sucks anyway.

I don't think GOW 3 is worth 60$. No, not because of no multiplayer, it is because 8 hours is simply not a lot.

I think thats because single players are becoming so short recently. I have grave fears for Max Payne 3 this year...

If they're worth it to you, then of course. I won't comment on GoW as that's not something I'm interested in, but I replay games like DMC/NG/Bayonetta all the time and they are certainly worth the price of entry to me.

Yes. I dont think a games length should be judged by one playthrough of the SP. MP rarely extends a games length for me more than the SP anyway.

I wouldn't spend full price on God of War. $60 for an 8 hour game with no replay value isn't worth it to me especially since I'm not an achievement whore.

I usually wait for games like that to go down in price before spending money on them.

it is, but the amount of content in a game is not, which i think is the bigger problem here, gow apparently has a short campaign so is it worth $60 for the amount of content given? I'll use L4D as another example, I had TONS of fun with the game, but really there wasn't even enough content to fill a night of playing, in fact it barely hit 4 hours usually, the episodes were short and only a small handful. No SP campaign at all so your left with the same 4 episodes over and over and over again. i thought it was definitly worth the $60 but given the content i also thought it was overpriced, it was more of a glorified beta test of a mod. One thing i've learned though is if i know a game is short, i'll play on the hardest diffuculty possible, it will extend the game a bit and make the experience the first time through more exciting.

I rarely pay $60 for games anymore. Unless I've been planning on buying the game day one, I usually don't spring for full price.I bought God of War III new for $30 through trade in at Gamestop and I'd say I got a steal. The game oozes quality and attention to detail. I bought Ninja Gaiden 2 for Xbox 360 for $10 at Best Buy andwhile I think the combat is great and so was the price; if I had to pay $60 for either God of War III or Ninja Gaiden, it would be God of War III in a heart beat. Some games just feel like they deserve the full price tag of $60 and some don't, no matter the genre.

wait a second... so a game you can beat in 8 to 10 hours is worth 60 dollars? That's complete rubbish. It's not worth anything close to 60 dollars, and neither is 90% of the games released these days. Hell, I think SSF4 is worth 60 dollars and I got it for under 40. But paying a full 60 dollar price tag on a game that you can't get squat back for, and will eventually drop to half the price is silly (unless you have that kind of money to drop on video games, OR if are really into the series than it's completely understandable). But I live alone and am lucky to have an icebox filled with groceries let alone a brand spankin' new PS3 game.

I spent $35 on L4D2 (PC master race steam sales) for one important reason. Online multiplayer.

I've put in 125 hours on L4D2, and as PC master race I also get the benefit of mods.

Hack n Slash games don't really have online, or multiplayer for that matter. It's one playthrough, and maybe a second if you want to try a higher difficulty.

Probably the same they did when games had lives and continues or passwords or cheap design with cheap deaths.

I haven't played GoW3 yet besides the demo but Bayonetta was worth th $60 bucks. DMC4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 not so much (not that they were bad games just not worth the $60 bucks).

No I don't think so. While GOW is one of my favourite games this gen, when you beat it and a few days pass and you realise.. damn I'm never going to touch that again. Then you really begin to regret actually purchasing it instead of renting. Imo games need some sort of replayability, hell even batman had some fun collectibles. If you don't got MP, please have a decent length SP (12-15 hours) with some nice replayability! That's all I'm asking

The campaign length is just a number. It might be part of what determines a game's "worth" for a particular person, it might not. The same goes for any other statistic you could pull from a game: the number of levels, the number of bosses, the number of game modes, the number of maps, the numbers of players in a match, etc.

I will not buy GoW3, Heavy Rain, Alan Wake or anything of that sort. Not because I do not absolutely love these types games and the quality that they may present but because, for the money spent they are just not worth it.

These arguments in general are the beautiful in betweens that cant be attacked because they do not take a full stance one way or another. Nothing can ever be based off of a "particular person". It is flat out impossible because said particular person can decide, choose, believe absolutely anything. This goes for any statistic you pull from anything. If you want to find a particular person to disagree with you, you can.

No.

A single player campaign first time through in an action/adventure/platformer, should be somewhere around 20 hours. I have no problem paying full price for a game that clocks over 20 hours and is a solid single player experience. I love a good campaign more than a multiplayer outing.

But I can't justify these games I can beat in 2 or 3 days if that. I'm a big fan of the God of War franchise, but it's still a steep price.

For those people complaining about the price tag, i'm assuming that you pay less when you watch a 90 min movie and pay more when you watch a 3hr movie, right? same case with music CD's

If you think that the game is worth the 60$ you should get it, no matter what, personally, i payed a full price for Bayonetta, and i haven't regret it at all, on the other hand, i didn't pay a Full price for Saint's Row 2 and while i really like that game, i wouldn't had bought it at full price.

Right, and that's exactly the point: this kind of thing is totally personal. Yet sometimes people still speak as if you can reach objective conclusions that apply to everyone, which you obviously can't.

Getting completely off topic (since this argument is essentially about fun and therefore entirely subjective): Doesn't the argument itself make any statistic or point irrelevant. If you want to take a statistic and base an argument on it, and then another person comes in and points out an outlier to prove a point they have essentially proven nothing. A particular person is only as good as the average he/she represents...

It has a few different difficulty levels and an arena mode. If we use this as a basis for other games then basically any game with 3 or 4 different difficulty modes and an extras sections has replay value...

I do know there is a creeping mentality that is spreading, and that is that if a game doesn't have ONLINE MP, it's not worth owning.

It's interesting, and it's not just SW, it's people in our everyday life.

15 hours of content makes the 60$ price tag seem a little bit hefty. If there isn't any MP, there's no reason why they can't make the SP a 40 hour affair.
