Do Lems Think Halo is GOD Still?

I used to believe that Halo was the best console FPS during the original XBOX era. This gen I feel that more companies are devloping quality FPS's that are on par, if not better than Halo 3.

EX.) Bioshock, COD4, Oragne Box, Haze.

Before you bash Haze let me say: It may seem like the "run of the mill" FPS, but it has much depth as well as a multiplayer mode that will tie in story elements. Plus it was the first game to announce 4 player co-op (split screen as well). I have high hopes for this game.

So... what say ye Lems? Maybe I should have made this thread when COD4 was actually reviewed :(.

RFOM? was a sick game shoudl be AAA, it just got shot down bcz it came out like 1 week after gears

What is this mystery PC FPS that somehow trumps Halo in terms of gameplay and funfactor? The only game I can think of is Farcry for PC but it wasn't as fun or epic an experience as any Halo game barring the second. Halo is the epitome of polished game design for an FPS. They streamlined it to the point of near perfection. The fact it can seamlessly integrate vehicles puts it on its own level.JiveT

Alien vs Pred 2 was so freaking awesome. I love that game to death.

Thief is a stealth game with a FPS perspective. Tribes doesn't even come close to matching Halo in terms of gameplay quality.

oh as for the question of console shooters. Yes.

Gears doesnt even touch it. Call of Duty 4 beta is fun, but there the forge advantage gives Halo 3 more depth. |

those are very good shooters, and some of them(Quake, Half Life and SS2) probably did more for the genre than Halo CE ever did. But That still doesnt mean Halo isn't THAT GOOD. Halo CE did ALOT for Console shooters, and invent ALOT of things we see in games even today. Halo might not be as good as the games you mentioned(for its time of course) but that doesn't change the fact that its A GREAT FPS, and gamesites and magazines all over the world have recognized this...

actually your wrong, last I checked cows said the ps3 would dominte upon relase, all games would receive 10/10 on every site, that it would be capable of 1080p on all games and 120fps, that within the first few months it would oversell 360 in every way.

Oh and last I checked halo 3 received 9.5-10/10 from every site, It sold so far what 3-4 million copies? lol it proved its worth on day one.

Gordon Freeman is a nerd that can kick ass. If the weapon mechanics had been changed to feel better in Halo after the first Halo then it MAY be able to hold a candle to HL gameplay wise, but as it stands, Halo 3s gameplay is over shadowed by a game realeased in 1998.

This is SW Pretty much every single thing that you read on this forum is opinion, I have played both, and I happen to think(And I'm sure I'm not the only one)that while Halo 3 is an awesome game (I play it at work, we have an 360 in the 'chill out zone')it is just not up to the standard of HL.

Further more, I fail to see how my previous post may be interpreted as elitist. I never said anything that claimed I am better than anyone else and if you consider thinking one game is of higher standard the another then we are all guilty of elitist povs.

How can you compare BioShock to Halo? I dont get that comparison at all. BioShock is great, but all because of the awesome atmosphere and storyline. The shooting in it is really mediocre.

Halo is the best shooter, period. Why: Its the only FPS that I feel that simultaneously provides a well written cinematic story and action packed balanced gunplay in a rounded package.

I'm not going to ducktail and say that there other games that do each of its elements better, comparing multiple games to one; i.e. Bioshock for its story and COD4 for its multiplayer. I can get it all right there in one package and its ultimately what I prefer.

Edit: I'm not flaming anyone, just saying that if I were to compare each of Halo's elements to individual games that would be taking away from what makes that differ from the rest. Garys mod for Halos forge, Bioshock for its atmosphere and story telling as opposed to Halos and/or Call Of Duty 4 for its multiplayer as opposed to Halos.

Its jut the same rendition of an argument and is getting pretty old.
