Do not get fooled. NSW is another failure in progress

The console is selling amazingly good, but software is where the money is. Looking at the switch games that are charting, they are all Nintendo's, splatoon, mario games ..etc.

It is a similar Wii case where Nintendo sold 80 millions of those but 3rd party support faded away very early. 3rd party developers are showing interest and are porting stuff but I wonder for how long since switch owners do not really care about those. They need their mario and call it a day.

Nintendo could be selling 100 millions of those but funny thing console will remain in a way, niche, since people are only buying nintendo games, but is that really what nintendo wants ? is it even a profitable practise? I guess this will determine if it is a failure or not.

I am stating facts. The games which are successful of switch are all Nintendo's which seems like a very similar case to the Wii. If Nintendo was happy with wii status then it could be a success.

PORT-vember gave switch owners a chance to purchase third-party content. I did my part. (Skyrim, LA Noire, Doom.)We'll see if the Doom/Skyrim experiment paid off when sales numbers are announced.

Maybe, but the library is already pretty solid, and with Xenoblade 2 releasing this week it looks to be getting even better.

Lems not content with bashing the wildly successful PS4 have now resorted to attacking the Switch. If the NSW is a “failure in progress” what is the Xbone ?? People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Lems should worry about their flop that is the Xbone before worrying about other systems.

@2mrw: What facts are you presenting other than making assumption? Nintendo does have a much better first year library than the Wii and Wii U. Switch is the anti-Wii and it's working.

I highly doubt it. With Xenoblade 2, Shin Megami Tensei 5, and Metroid 4 releasing in 2018 it appears to be gaining momentum. And they're gonna kill it this holiday season. All they need is a solid Pokémon game that's way better than any one before and the game and The Switch will become a culture phenomenon imo

The math is not on your side. The Switch has done very well in its launch year (so far) and that is with Nintendo having a fairly regular release cycle for the 3DS holding it back to a sizable degree. 2018 and onward will be even stronger years for the platform. It's rather hard to build a case for it slowing down any time within the next software release generation (2-3.5 years).

As a Switch owner, I don't give a damn if the console flops (but that's not the case and don't see it flopping in the near future) because Nintendo has the games I'm laying now and even my Daughter loves her Switch then me. Hell, she even plays Mario Odyssey more everyday then I do.

I agree with your statement on brutal third party support for the Wii/Wii U. There was little reason to buy third party games on those system when superior versions were always available on the PS3/360/PC. The "gimmick" of the Switch (portable) may bring life to third party support. It is the only major console that lets you play games on the go, and that alone is a reason for some people to buy Doom/Skyrim/etc. on the Switch over a PS4/X1/PC. Personally, I will still buy third party games on X1/PS4, but I would expect stronger support for the Switch overall.

Metroid Prime 4 should alleviate your concerns, it's too early to tell now and the system had a great year. Right now they are fine imo but they need to keep the momentum going in 2018, they cannot coast on the success of Mario and Zelda for an eternity.

I don't think anyone on this forum has said this but LA Noire for the Switch in some ways actually runs worse than the PS3 version of LA Noire. Just check out the Digital Foundry video.
