Seriously does anyone actually care if a game is 1080,720,640 etc etc? I find it very sad if someone actually does care. It doesnt make a big difference, not even noticeable unless you compare the resolutions against eachother, and even then its minuscule. Does it make the game any less fun? No.... If developers feel the need to do so, or it makes it easier to develop and get higher performance out of the game then heck, I say make all the 640 games you like. Anyone else agree?bri360
smells like someones trying to defend Halo 640p
There is a signifigant difference between upscaled images and native. Anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong and probably has no idea what they are talking about.
I always game using my PC on a 40" 1080p sony TV and I assure you, the difference between 720p (1280 x 720 for PC gamers) and 1080p (1920 x 1020) is really signifigant, even 5 feet back on the couch. If only my PC could always play games in 1080p. Crysis barely runs in 720p.
That being said, if developers scale the image back from 720p that means that they have put in a lot of eye candy so we shouldn't complain. COD4 runs at 600p because the graphics and effects are so rich. ANyway, if you want full HD then buy COD4 PC and get a new video card.

If there's a noticable difference between 640 upscaled to 720 and native 720, then yes I care to some extent, as far as console games go. All of my 360 and PS3 games so far have beenin native 720p and I find the resolution to be nice and clear. Anyway, if I decide to get COD4 at some point, I'll go with the PC version. My 8800 Ultra card should run it really well.

No difference? Are you serious? Do me a favor, go compare a game at 480p to a game that is 1080p then come back and tell me there is no difference.
I want my games native 1080p damnit!
[QUOTE="PikaPichu"][QUOTE="bri360"][QUOTE="HungryLikeAMug"][QUOTE="bri360"][QUOTE="HungryLikeAMug"]I take it I'm the only one who takes offense to developers knowingly and deliberately lying on their boxes? Should they not be held accountable for this? It is false advertising which (i think) can be prosecuted pretty hard?bri360
Mabye its ok for them to say this since its upscaled to 720/1080 anyways. It doesnt say true native 720p on the box does it? I think it just says 720 or 1080.
sorry for the noob question:oops: but whats the difference between native and upscaled.
Native is what the game is designed and made at and upscaled is when the 360 or w/e your using takes the native resolution and upscales it to a higher resolution like 720p and 1080p. In the end native will be better but if you actually compare it, it isnt much of difference.
Is upscaling like stretching 1 pixel to fill the space of 2 or more pixels?
No, upscaling is more like, it calculates where the pixels should be and what they should be. There isnt any stretching involved which is why it looks pretty close to a native rez.
There is plenty of difference between picture quality of native and upscalled, don't spread lies!
I have a 1080i tv and i couden't (and still can't) tell the diffrence,Guiltfeeder566
Are you using the right cables? There should be a huge difference from resolutions. The only time I don't see a huge gap, but I do see a gap, is from 720p to 1080p native.
I do care. It looks like a mangled pile of dog crap without it.
Jaggy's = fail in it's pureist form!
Relys
Irony, look at your sig and display picture... On the Wii...
Well depends on what kind of television they have. If they have a 720p or SD tv i doubt they would care that a game is 1080p.

It is very minuscule indeed my friend, but we deal with idiots here on a daily basis.:(
The only thing I've noticed about resolutions this gen is that games can't handle 1080p. Not a one of them. Why? All we get is jaggies, that's why.
I actually play some of my 360 games in 1080i, which eliminates a bit of the jaggies.
Microsoft did a decent job by including a scaler, but Sony sort of dropped the ball with that one.
Anyway, none of this matters, because the games this gen are so freeking hot!:)

That is for Blu-Ray, but Ps3 does have an upscaller.
If people say there is little difference between resolutions you have NO idea what you're talking about.
