Do people usually buy 8 copies of the same game?

Wow...just when I thought I've seen and heard everything about EB Games and Gamestop...

Today I went to one of these stores (an EB Games in NW Las Vegas). I had just received a $50 EB Games Gift Card so I went out to buy The Witcher cause I heard it was a great PC RPG.

So I go to the store (the employees at this EB are not bad, don't bother u, don't question the games ur buying, don't hassle u too much w/ pre-orders magazine subscriptions, etc.)...walk in, its kind of busy in there, lots of kids (but its soon to be X-mas so nothing out of the ordinary), go to the small PC section and find the Witcher.

As I'm walking up to the counter, I see a man purchasing 8, that's right EIGHT, copies of Mass Effect. I was like WTF? (not out loud, but in my head).

So I pay for my game, and leave. (I didn't ask the employee, or the man purchasing the games about the transaction, since it's none of my business)...but wow.

Why would u buy 8 copies of the same game?

yea...but still. I mean I could understand buying 3 Soul Caliburs II's for each of the platforms because you get a different character in each...but of the same game...idk...

Well no if you're a die hard fan of a franchise why wouldn't u buy 3 copies of the game...with each being different?

Its so he could play all 8 games at once. Its rather easy to hold a controller with one hand and be in reach of all buttons (if awkwardly). Oh, did the guy also buy 4 copies of Super Mario Galaxy :P?

The only thing I can think of is if he owns a store/rental place. But I don't see why he'd buy from a competitor/ have eight copies to rent. So I have nothing.MrDziekuje

It's the most plausible response. This isn't really the "wtf" thing you're making it out to be. Obviously noone is sure why he bought 8 copies, but giving it as gifts in the holiday season is the most probable. Stop making it seem huge.

Thats weird. You never know. He might have bought one for himself, and the other seven as gifts. Tis the season. Or he could be selling some at jacked up proces to fools. I mean, you can never be sure of someone's motives for somthing uless you ask.... So the next you see a guy buy eight copies of the same game, don't be afraid to ask why.

He was probably going to eat 3.
Give one to his son.
Play frisbe with another one.
Donate 2 to charity.

Not true, I work at a electronics department and there is a man who will come whenever we get a new release movie/game and he will buy anywhere from 5-40 copies to rent or sell at his store.
