Do sheep feel betrayed by Nintendo?

Do you think Nintendo has abondoned their core audience in favour of casuals who don't even know about the pre Wii days?. I do. I saw this earlier

This was on Ellen, she gave Wii consoles & Wii Fit to every member of her audience!. Look how excited these non gaming women get at the sight of a Wii, it's their console, not ours. Nintendo has betrayed us. I bought a Wii, but I will be selling it as two games a year aimed at hardcore Nintendo fans is not enough for me. You can have all the soccer moms in the world Nintendo, just don't expect your real fans to stick around to see you slap them in the face.

Maybe next gen you will remember who got you to where you are today.

Nintendo could not release another 1st party game for the rest of the generation and sheep would still play sales, and hype 3rd party shovelware. Im not saying it is but it seems like that MGS4 will be the only worthwhile game on the PS3 since launch. I know there is Resisitance and Warhawk and Uncharted which are all good but doesn't anyone remember those promises sony made at e3?

The PS3 get's plenty os 3rd party support don't even try to go that way, the PS3 has a WAY better selection of games then the wii according to pretty much every professional reviewer out there.

Totally agree, I hate how everyone is like "you can't play teh sales Sheep ahahaha!", yeah well guess what Cows and Lems you can't play shiny graphics either, it saddnes me that all the people who think Call of Gears 16 is a proper hardcore game whereas something original like Zack and Wiki isn't. I don't think Nintendo abandoned proper gamers at all, I think they made a console which can liven up proper gamers a bit, I'm more than happy playing shooters, but I like a bit of variety in my gaming, like Zack and Wiki, Boom Blox, Galaxy, etc etc, the kind of games that you can't get on 360 or PS3.

Of course not Nintendo released so many popular franchises that there previous fans liked in 1 year and a half, so how could we feel betrayed they released alot of there Big Core Audience games in that time span so there can only be more from now on.

Only reason I bought my Wii was so I don't get distracted. I knew if I had bought a 360 or a PS3 I would be distracted as hell from my school work. Now I'm buying a PS3 very soon.

Wii will make a great secondary console.

Why are people so resentful that people who don't fit the "gamer" mold are excited about the Wii. I wasn't aware that gaming was an exclusive club, only accessable to those who enjoyed Halo and GTA. Nintendo has studied the market, found a target audience, and has built some games for that group. Based on their sales, they're doing very well.

One of my parishoners was in a nursing home, playing Wii Sports for physical therapy. She got a 177 on Wii Bowling. The Wii has gone over great in our church. We see old ladies and kids playing alike. It's fantastic. For this reason alone, I think the Wii is a fantastic console. There are plenty of games for "hardcore gamers," but when games start to be developed for people who don't fit the gamer mold, everybody complains. There is plenty of room for all.

Metroid Prime 3, Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Galaxy, BWII, FE:POR... most games they've released have not caused fans to feel resentment.

I thought the Wii would prioritize their IPs. Instead, we get Zelda that plays better on the GC. Mario Kart which is trash. Brawl, which plays better with the GC controller. And TONS of awful 3rd party crap. I will give credit where it is due though, SMG is great - but, thats it.

Their online is terrible.

I was expecting new and exiting things with the Wii. The only excitement I see is the Wii fanboys going crazy over the sales.

So, I am going to the systems that offer tried and true entertainment.

I've not played MKWii... but it got great reviews... so just exactly when did an 8.5 become carp. Most of those games you bash are still great, just not the best thing ever... Not every game can be SMG... that doesn't mean they are bad.

I've not tried the online on the Wii yet... but I don't care either.

Zelda was made for the GC, of course it plays better on that. 8.5 says Mario Kart isn't trash. Brawl plays just as well with a Wiimote/Nunchuk. And Nintendo is not responsible for the lousy games 3rd parties put out.

And of course, you're also assuming that those are all the Wii games that have come out up until now, and the future games will be just as bad.

Fans are Fans and the industry is big enough for all of us. Nintendo has done a good job releasing both HC, and Casual games... More HC then casual actually ;).

That was my point. I was asking those who felt "betrayed" what games they were expecting nintendo to release, but werent. You answered it, they've released all the games people expected them to and they have all been good.

Eh,... the Nintendo fan base was telling us all those games will "own" - when they clearly didn't. And when you are challengedto prove they did, you bring up; "The Wii is selling" - nothing else.

Metroid 3? IT was suppose to revolutionize the FPS. Instead, it was passed over. Halo 3 knocked it's teeth out. Sorry, the Wiimote just isn't as great as you people hoped. But, the fat house wives like it! And, thats good enough for you. :-)

And, on the online point - AGAIN, the Wii Fans are screaming about FREE online. There is a reason it's free - it's crap.

You're under the impression that there's actually hardcore games instead of hardcore gamers

You're also under the impression that Nintendo didn't come out and said they're easing back on "introductory" software and moving towards their core demographic. That's why there's no Wii Sports 2. Researching could have preventing all that.

There's plenty of software on the Wii for every taste. The Wii is the only console on the market right now that's catering to the hardcore gamer, instead of the the other two doing the same old thing over and over and over.

I own at least 10 DDR games acrossed the Playstaion maybe closer to 15. So yes if I want to buy 10 Wiifits I will do the same.

It's been nearly 2 years since wii launched and we have yet to see a sequel to either wiiplay or wiisports. We've seen ratchet and clank games come out faster.
