First Final Fantasy 13 went multiplat, then Final Fantasy 14, hey! why not star ocean only for the 360?! There is a 80% chance Kingdom Hearts 3 will be multiplat. Whats next? Persona 5 on Xbox 360!?!?!?

You cant trust anyone these days. Sure its for money but sony fans have been nothing but loyal to SE and now they screw sony over?

Whats your opinon?

I can't tell if this is a joke or not. Anyway, they started off on nintendo, so why would they be bound to Sony? I hope to god KH3 does come out on X360, because I'm not interested in FF at all.

Final Fantasy 14 wasn't ever meant to be console-exclusive to PS3.

if you read carefully during the convention, Square Enix people repeatedly said they did not sign an exclusivity deal with Sony. that it happened to be that PS3 and PC were the easiest to make an MMO on. they did not rule out it coming to 360.

There have been Japanese articles that Star Ocean 4 will be coming to the PS3, and i wouldn't be a bit surprise if it came with additional content like the Ninja Gaiden series has been doing. It just hasn't been officially announced.

It doesn't bother me one bit if Persona 5 or Kingdom Hearts 3 go multi-platform either. so long as we still get to play it, why should we care. and i'm personally not gonna waste my time counting polygons to see which ones are 'sharper'.

I personally wouldn't be surprised if Kingdom Hearts 3 ends the series. 1 and 2 are following a narrative. i can't say the same for Persona series (i'm buying Persona for my future PSP Go though... would love to play this game). Maybe each Persona game is it's own encapsulated story and that would matter much in the end either.

--------------

What is becoming exclusive is not so much third party support - the economics are not there anymore, they have to go multi-plat - it will be exclusive DLC. whatever the platform holder can do to persuade the average consumer to buy a certain version. even then the majority of that exclusive DLC ends up coming to the other platform anyways. would not be surprised if GTA4 DLC comes PS3, and Arkham-Joker comes to 360.

-------------

As the people at both 360 and PS3 have said. it'll be up to the 1st party devs to make the exclusive games.

unless your like the Wii that is completely unique, under-powered (you cannot put GTA4 or Final Fantasy 13 on the Wii withought tearing out most of the game or downgrading it so far that only desperate Wii-only owners would buy it) machine. in which case most of their games are gonna be exclusive, and if you wanna push it your gonna have to be really creative with it.

Sony fans have been loyal to square? then why haven't the past 6 or so final fantasy games sold in the 50 millions? i mean with 150 million ps2's out there you would think all those games would have sold atleast 15-20 million a peice.

lol, is this post for real, tc? seriously, there's no hating or loving ps3 and sony. there's just business and making money. why make it a ps3 exclusive when there's more money in making the games multiplat? gaming is still business after all.

The times have changed, and while staying exclusive to someone (Nintendo, then Sony) may have been good business at the time, now it's better for them to be multiplatform, especially with the disparity of console sales in different territories (more PS3s than 360's in Japan, but it's reversed in the US and Canada). Oh, and don't flame.

They were never loyal. Hence they did not stay with Nintendo. They are in a business and they want to make money so they go where the money is.

Enix has always been more frugal, took less risks, whereas Square was more innovative, high budget, etc.

It seems Enix runs the company once they merged.

So, now SE is more of a multiplat company, although they've shown more support for 360 this gen than PS3, again that's business.

However, It's Ironic that Square isn't as awesome as they once were. That merger really hurt the company imo, and unfortunately, that was about the time the 360 came out. Bad timing, I guess.

Funny coincidence that we have yet to see a decent SE game since their GD like relationship with Ms, are they even trying?

yeah but they've yet to release their flagship games yet either. and if people are already looking at Square Enix negatively because they don't tend to make their games like the 'good ol' days. then your probably not gonna be happy with FF13, FFV13, FF13 Agito, FF14. so there is no winning no matter how you spin it. Just do the gaming-world a favor. when the flagship SE games start coming out, take it for what they are. take it as a new experience and enjoy it. don't cry about it doesn't have some gaming mechanic from an older game. you can.... of course just go and play that older game if you like the game mechanic so much.....

For the record, Persona and Shin Megami Tensei in general have nothing to do with Square-Enix, Atlus publishes them, and Atlus seems to love Sony along with NIS. It does seem like Square-Enix is failing to deliver on their "support all consoles equally" statement, considering every other RPG dev has released a few real games on PS3 while they continue to seemingly ignore it. There is stuff on the horizon, but it seems like forever away. Three years with no releases aside from a small PSN castle defenders game is pretty pitiful.

Persona isn't made by Square Enix, it's made by Atlus. And FFXIII is a PS3 exclusive in Japan, and they've been supporting the PSP quite well. So I wouldn't say that they 'hate' Sony.

Its not a question of hating, its just business and SE realised that going multiplat was the way to go this gen in order to make more money..

However SE lately didnt deliver those great games it used to do sometime ago... still they are one of the best devs and going multiplat means more gamers can enjoy their titles..

I say its more of SE making stupid decisions to somehow not bring their games to the PS3. Now their greed and lack of effort are really showing the consequences.

Final Fantasy XIII alone should tell you "no."

Versus, Dissidia, Parasite Eve, and Agito should tell you "hell no."

LOL RITE LETS JUST MAKE GAMES LUK LIKE NES GAMES, ART AND VISION HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

Hes right.

Why make a game exclusive to the PS3 when Sony isnt forking over any money and you can double sales by alsoputting it on the 360.

Unless you were crying about it being on the Wii.

This is the same reason why they ditched the N64 for the PS1 after years of releasing their games exclusively for Nintendo systems. They chose the PS1 because of the lower costs of CDs, cheaper licensing fees and a chance to make a bigger profit than they would on the N64.

The slow adoption of the PS3 in its first few years and the rising costs of video game development forced Square Enix to adopt a policy of putting their games on every console. Square Enix doesn't hate Sony, they simply focus their efforts more on the PSP which is cheaper to produce games for and carries less risk if something fails.

Its the main reason why the DS has seen the most SE games this generation. Its cheap to make games for it, and most them of sell millions of copies each generating good returns for fairly cheap investments.

The reality is, Square Enix doesn't hate Sony, they have simply shifted their policy to ensure they make money this generation.

Square can't make enough $$$ just selling to the PS3. It's true of almost all game developers, everyone wants to go multiplat. There are very few exclusives, and most are first-party.

I don't think that's' what he's saying. Obviously Square should go ahead and make 360/PS3 multiplats as it will make them the most money, but I think Goblaa is suggesting that the HD systems are a mistake overall.

no..the PS3 is just dying and square are just jumping ship. hey its SW and people try and use that logic to try and argue that the PC is dying. i thought id use the same logic....my head hurts :P. seriously....its the way of the world now. square certainly have nothing against sony...its just that this is the age of multiplat. making a PS3 exclusive (or a 360 or PC) makes no sense, especially when making big expensive blockbuster games. it would be idiotic of square to not make a 360 version of those games...hell i wouldnt be surprised if we do hear of a PC version after the consoles releases (though 14 is of course coming to the PC).

imagine if they stayed loyal to nintendo during the n64 and gamecube days instead of going to sony... hmmm

Square Enix doesn't hate Sony it's just that now with the economy the way it is and the cost of making games, companies are looking out for their wallets moreso than before; Plus they are willing to go multiplatform with certain titles and sign for exclusives if the price is right.

lol, that would be a good excuse except SE made the decision to support X360 way before the ecomony tanked. So you can't use the "economy made us give MS exclusives" excuse. Plain and simple, they were paid to support the X360 with exclusive games and make the rest multiplat. Anyone trying to deny this lacks common sense.

I don't think they show exclusive support as much as they've done to systems in the past. Snes-Ps1-Ps2 for example, but I know this. I couldn't care less SE haven't made ANYTHING interesting to me in years except for a DS game.
