Will Apple ever?

Maybe, but it would be overpriced and underpowered. Wouldn't stop the loyal apple fanbase from buying it and then trying to shove it down everyone elses throat with sayings like "it just works". I swear some people would buy a turd as long as it had a Apple symbol on it.
THIS. A MILLION TIMES THIS.Maybe, but it would be overpriced and underpowered. Wouldn't stop the loyal apple fanbase from buying it and then trying to shove it down everyone elses throat with sayings like "it just works". I swear some people would buy a turd as long as it had a Apple symbol on it.

Sounds like Sony :P But no I don't think that would happen. But The life cycle would be short enough so that they don't need a price drop.Maybe, but it would be overpriced and underpowered. It wouldnt work. With apples cost structure, they would end up with a machine that would cost around $700.. with no disc (download only). I dont even think this itablet will work.. who needs that really? its not powerful enough to really do anything with and its basically just a $600 toy.

yeah that pretty much sums up what the pippin was back in 1996.
Well.........There's this.

Oh Christ tell me they are kidding? What the hell Apple? Stick to making overpriced, overrated, under developed computers and MP3 players.

I don't hate Apple, i just hate the people who own them, i wish they'd all just jump of a cliff, the punch of****:D:P
Exactly! The amount of twits who have it at my uni, and they all dress the same and hang out at starbucks drinking there frappachinos, who think there better than you because they speant £1300 on a laptop that looks like an ailen's lunchtray.
When they can prove the can make good games for you know.... Their products that are perfectly capable of running games.. The macbooks and imacs. Then they can enter the game market
I think they tried once, and it failed. They might again, but I don't think it would be very good, or it would be good but way over priced. They would have charged a grand at least for a PS3 type system. The reason that Microsoft made the (direct)xbox is because consoles were hurting PC sales, gaming consoles aren't hurting mac sales.
The Apple of today and the Apple of the Pippin days are two totally different companies.
Apple brought the iPod, iPhone and the iMac and those were all huge because of brilliant marketing, brilliant software and Steve Jobs heading the company again.
But I don't think Apple would be stupid enough to enter such a volatile industry like Gaming. They will stick to the iPhone,iPod,iTablet market and makes games for those, but no consoles.
Although if Apple bought a company like OnLive that would be HUGE. OnLive's CEO is the creator of Apple Quicktime.
i think it would be great if apple did. however the market can't support 4 systems so one will have to go.
who will it be?
sony has a machine that is a great multimedia device loved by adults24-40.
the wii has the hearts of women all over the world.
MS has the gaming machine loved by males 12-24
where does apple fit? (their products ae cool and trendy)
key word is trendy. timing would be so important for them.
ms and sony would have to go BD and streaming gaming service to survive apple entry.
what do you think?
There's not much room in this industry for a fourth console at this time. Plus i don't see Apple making much of an effort when it comes to gaming on their devices (except for mini games and such for the iPhone), so i don't see Apple making a push in this market anytime soon (they need to establish a first party and encourage third party development first). Not to mention factors like their current pricing stragedy, which wouldn't work in a highly competetive industry like this one.
It's funny how many people mindlessly hate on Apple ... navstar29
I think the people that "mindlessly" loves Apple balances it out. Those that check out OS wars know what i mean.

why do they need a first party? ms does not have one
They tried, it was called the Apple Bandai Pippin. It sold only 40,000 and I could entertain myself better with a rusty razor blade than playing that piece of junk.

Exclusives and killer apps. Oh and Microsoft does have a first party, just dull in comparison to Sony's.
