I did a google, and didnt find anything, so I'll ask you smarty-pants. Do you know when Reach and its engine started development? Because if it started after or maybe even before Halo 3, I would be pretty confident for some very pretty graphics. But if it started at the same time as the announcement trailer, and a summer 2010 release date, I wouldnt be expecting to much in terms of teh grfxs.

It probably entered development right after the release of Halo 3.

I heard it started development even before ODST got started. So probably the first half of 2008 or just after Halo 3.

Depends on how you define "development". The creative teams (writing and concept art) probably started while Halo 3 was wrapping up, but the real grunt work (pun!) likely started in late-07 (ie November/December)/early-08.

Several sources confirm that the Germans started the development of Halo Reach in 1944. Development seized a year later for still unknown reasons.

Bungie get money from retailers. So they got paid before release.

I wonder if development started before Halo 3 because of the time needed to build a new engine.

A developer at Bungie said the dev cycle would be 3 years. In a video interview with a European site. I'm guessing right after Halo 3.

i'll bet it's not really a new engine. more like how Halo 3's engine is a modified Halo 2's engine. and Halo 2's engine is a modified...well, you know what i mean.

I kinda hope MS finish last this gen. They need to be knocked down a peg, much the same way Sony has been this gen, and have come good 'cause of it.

The way MS does buisness is great for them, but it limits there gaming ambition.

I just dont think Halo can have amazing graphics. Its a series all about huge corridors, rediculously sized architecture and large ramps. The series artsyle is too simplisitic to look amazing imo.
