I'd rather not have any sort of sequel for any game.

First let me clear two things ... First yes alan wake 2 is already confirmed to be in remedy's sights so long as there are enough fans for it... Secondly about the sales, realize the bad sales it got because it honestly isnt a game that would grab the attention of casual gamers and gamers who dont research into things. Things like halo and rdr already look awesome from there cover, alan wake from its cover can seriously be mistaken for shovelware......... Overall though, alan wake is great cus it is what gaming needs, new fresh ideas and great storytelling. I would rather buy more games like alan wake than gears of war anyday cud thd game actually has u work towards something meaningful other than a chance for a chainsaw assassination............DO You WANT ALAN WAKE 2?!!

Only if they make it on PC this time and don't deliver the cut-down rubbish afforded by console hardware :(. It could have be soo epic...

Of course Star Craft 2 is going to be sweet but what does this have to do with the topic?

General gamer mentality... "Oh look a neat looking game.... Hmn Ala... OH SNAP LOOK THERES STARCRAFT!!!!!" *runs off and buys starcraft and forgets about Alan Wake*

Yes we do need AW2. The first was a great game, probably one of the best, if not the best game of this year.

We dont need alan wake 2. The first game was good halfway through and then they run out of ideas and try to lengthen the game with cheap moves. Its not confirmed by remedy, it did not sold well and i really dislike games that are made for 5 years and when they are finaly out they recycle them in order to make sequels a year later, like stalker for example. If a sequel is to come out, then atleast take some time to improve over the original.

I'd like a part 2 so they can do it right this time, longer and less repetitive. Same atmosphere, better and more varried gameplay.

yeah we do need alan wake 2 the-obiwan
Agreed. It has one of the most interesting stories in gaming, and had extremely tight gameplay. Sign me up for another outing.

If Microsoft ever greenlights it I'd rather Remedy made a spiritual sequel than a direct one. I just can't see a direct sequel working particularly well. Would it take place in the same environment, with the same guy doing the same things? How would it not? How would you make the story interesting when you know what you knew at the end of Alan Wake from the very start? You could only go deeper down the rabbit hole and I think that'd just make the whole thing feel silly and forced.

Or I guess you could maybe make it about Alice Wake instead. It is a bit suspicious how her name also begins with an A (A. Wake, awake, it's silly wordplay). Might be onto something here. From her perspective you could probably do all kinds of things.
I'll add that I wasn't a big fan of all the supernatural stuff. Would've preferred it if it had stayed somewhat grounded in reality. But nope, those are actual shadow zombies possessed by an ancient evil darkness. The characters and mood was great, but I couldn't take that seriously. Also, what was up with that FBI agent? Never understood why he was such a homicidal jerkface.
Technically, people didn't NEED Alan Wake 1. But coming up with new games or ideas in ANYTHING creative has nothing to do with NEED.

Sure we do. There are plenty of worse games that get sequels and go on to do well. Why not Alan Wake, which is generally regarded as a great game to begin with?

Yes and it better not have a crap ending like the first one. I swear I wanted to snap the disk in half after I beat it.

I really wish they would stop with these cliff hanger endings for video games.

I think if there is another Alan Wake it might end up like Uncharted 2 being really good.

I have a feeling that would happen also. It has the potential to solve the problems and come out with an amazing game in the end.
