For how many Wiis are in homes today, the Wii should be dominating the sales charts. especially since there are no true tri-platform games.
you may be right but i'm not so sure. the majority of sales are typically in the first week. for instance, GTAIV sold like so many million units its first week and set records and what not but only added like a million more sales in the entire next year that it was out.i think you mean reead dead redemption above galaxy 2 right?
galaxy was out for a shorter time thats why or else it would of outsold even the 360 version.

well you must consider these factors as well
when most people buy consoles that come with games they dont buy one until they need or want to
or 2 people just buying a black wii who already has games
and 3 wii games sell over time ,not in the abundance npd tracks for sales records , plus you do got used games, which doesnt count toward tha t number
half of the games a person may have wanted isnt in circulation no ,more there for they go to pawns or gamestop ,,
i know i buy wii games heck most of my game collection from this gen is wii and 360 and ds,
with about 34 or so ps3 games , and 22 psp games ,
so ya um i think its the fact wii comes packed in with games already that people will most likelyplay them first then go out to get a new one i remember when i was little that was what i had to do before i d get a new one it wasnt like now where i can buy as i please ,
wed have 1 console at least -before psx era at least
and wed get to choose a game we all wanted to play , except some times where i got a game and my sister choose tmnt i choose super mariokart ,
either way it was like this until i got into middle school ,, i became the main player , ,
with games like nfs hot pursuit and goldeneye around , no better time to grab 4 n64 controllers each a different color to -i had a blue one ,my sister picked a yellow my aunt picked a green and my mom or tyhe other 4 player gotthe grey that came with it
so ya , , now i got 6 controllers 2 blue 1 grey 1 purple 1 green 1 gold so ya ,
those were the days right now you hardly get a choice of color
if i did at wii launch i probably got all colors available , 1 of each at least 1 black 2 blue and the white standard one that came with it
so ya , ,if my remotes break im gonna do that im gonna get a blue one ,
i have over 140 games already on my wii thats including dl games,
thats the same number about as i have for snes games , and i m just about done with collecting them ,xcept a few ineed to find of course
I buy wii games....I just got SMG2 and Sin and Punishment 2.
Zanoh
How is Sin and Punishment 2? I thought trailers were cool, but I need an opinion :P

tldr.
I've had my Wii for a week or so now and I've only turned it on a few times. I think I may be starting to regret my purchase.

and NSMBWii just passed 15 million in less than a year?
The kind of gamer who posts here and plays games on the Wii is only but a fraction of the userbase for the Wii... which is why core titles do so poorly commercially when they don't have proper advertising or the Nintendo brand name.
WHAT? She didnt buy Madworld? What kind of grandma is that?my grandma has a wii, andyeah she only has wii sport..
oajlu
Casuals who bought Wii don't play it much, they are also not particular interested in the hardcore titles on the Wii, so there's not much reason for them to buy games for it.mysterj
What is a Hardcore Title?
You probably didn't hear Reggie when he was talking about Wii sales, oh right you think that part is boring and you want to see some gamez instead!!!
of course, but I'm willing to bet a ps3/360 game takes the top spot again. and think about this, next month, what are the people that bought galaxy this month buying? nothing because they can't possibly be buying the same game again.Red Dead is going to take a bigger tumble off the charts next month than Galaxy.

People don't buy games every month though, its a silly question. Unless the systems sell software equavalent to their install base each month (ie they don't) that question makes no sense.

I think it is great I'm not good with Specifics because I'm not good at defining why I like a game I just know I like it. If you like Star Fox 64 or any other games that are like that you should like Sin & Punishment: Star Successor. It could be that the sales are spread out over the amount of shovelware the console has.wdave92
I agree with this. There are SO many games out there for the Wii and many are purchased by consumers who don't take the time to research game quality or type. So they buy what's on the shelf that looks pretty. Sad but true. Just imagine what the sales of the better Wii games would be like with a little advertising and encouragement of new gaming consumers.

i dont think its sad. smaller thirdparty titles have a chance of selling that way contrary to the 360 or ps3 where only big name high budget games get a chance[QUOTE="ActicEdge"]of course, but I'm willing to bet a ps3/360 game takes the top spot again. and think about this, next month, what are the people that bought galaxy this month buying? nothing because they can't possibly be buying the same game again. there is nothing comming out in june. i doubt that another game will take the top spot. we already know that galaxy sold 900k (Nintendo said that at E3) in the middle of the month. so id bet that galaxy 2 will have sold 350 k - 450k next month also NSMBWii sales will be pretty strong (198k this month)Red Dead is going to take a bigger tumble off the charts next month than Galaxy.

Yeah but for the sake of argument what about those who aren't interested in Nintendo software? I would wager that if you illustrated a graph like this with only third party games the Wii and the PS3 would switch positions. Point being Nintendo's success is great for people that love Nintendo software, however if Nintendo's software doesn't interest you then the Wii is one of the worst platforms in history. Basically unless you are satisfied with only Nintendo games, then Nintendo is greatly benefiting at everyone else's expense. Third parties have to go up against the juggernaut that is Nintendo on the Wii which is proabably a good correlation as to why despite the massive amounts of Wii hardware moved we have yet to see a third party shift towards developing major titles for the Wii. A unique situation as far as I know having the top selling console getting the least third party support. So great for Nintendo and those who love them, but bad for just about everyone else.

but that was my initial point. that the Wii has a lower install/game sales rate than the other two systems.I wouldn't count your opinion. You're obviously more of a collector than a gamer. Most people don't buy games as MANY as you do. A friend of mine has a Wii since launch, he only has 7-8 games for Wii, and Wii is the only system he has. Not everyone is as rich as you to spend money on almost ANY games.well you must consider these factors as well

i may also be in the group of people that dont buy many games. I own a ps3 and wii and I probably own less than 30 games for both. That is one of the main reasons I never understand this drought of games that people talk about.
Of course there will be a drought if you buy up to 5 games a month lol
Same thing happened with the PS2, it sold 5 times more than the xbox yet Halo 2 sales competed with PS2 games sales because it had a heavy casual fanbase and a variety of gamer tastes.
This is sort of tied with jimkabrhel's statement about third parties advertising and creating awareness of their Wii games:
So was there any news on how Monster Hunter 3 did in the West? I remember Capcom made a great effort to push the product by including demos at Gamestop, actually having ads for the game, and they even made a bundle with the CIassic Controller Pro. I hope it worked out well for them.
well in 2009 wii thirdparty software sales outsold the entire PS3 softwaresales (first and thirdparty) by quite a margin if that answers your questionYeah but for the sake of argument what about those who aren't interested in Nintendo software? This is such an unfair argument. What if . .. What if people aren't interested in third party software? You aren't allowed to just make up rules here, the topic at hand is buying games, not which games. And really, as a Wii gamer, no thir party titles has grabbed me and said, screw the next Mario game, you are buying me instead. If no third party title does that, am I suspose to go buy it?
