Yep, it's completely a legitimate form of gaming. Personally I much prefer PC/Console/Handheld gaming over it, for a number of reasons, but i've certainly enjoyed some mobile games.

Didn't know that there's be such acceptance over get at GS. Anybody recommend some stuff? Like I said, I've been playing Across Ages and its a really well done RPG, in my opinion. Trying to finish it before I get into Mage Gauntlet, because that game seems better and just..really good. There are tons of worthwhile games coming out all the time it seems. Just kind of sucks when a game gets kind of hyped and tries to be a lot like their big budget brothers and flops horribly- I'm looking at you Backstab.

i'm not interested in it but it is as legit as any other gaming.

lol, what kind of snob do you have to be to consider the way you waste your time better than the way someone else wastes theirs?

Duh. It's the best way to play games like Espgaluda II without breaking the bank on a $70 import from Japan.

Sure, it just doesn't have many games I would consider to be good. Most of them are like crappy flash games.

I didn't until I got my iPad 2, its great for gaming. Definitely rivals handhleds but the games are much cheaper. A lot of people don't take it seriously here though, I used to be like that but playing is believing.

Yeah, gaming is entertainment. It doesn't have to be $60 rip off games with terrible incoherent stories and tacked on MP with crazy cutting edge graphics to be a game. If I want a puzzle game, simple time killer, or the like, these mobile devices are the best places for them. No one can say playing Tetris can't be hardcore, or going up against leaderboards or besting your own time/score in games isn't competitive enough either.

yup sure. i dont like either of them though. grand for something like angry birds but i tried to play the UE3 tech demo (its name escapes me) on an iphone 3GS. the controls were awful and my thumbs were blocking a chunk of the screen. that wouldnt be such a big deal on a tablet mind due to a bigger screen (the blocking bit..nothing will save those controls). but they certainly are legit gaming platforms.

To me the deeper games coming out for iOS just make it more obvious where developers are bumping up against the input and battery life limitations.

Someday the code will be cracked on complex touchscreen-only games, but it won't involve emulating a controller. That was never a good idea.

As long as you're emulating real games, sure :P I have a few on my Tab 10.1 that do alright, haven't ever tried emulating on my Infuse though but I'm not desperate enough to game on it like I do with my Tab.

If gaming is mini-games that can be played while your waiting for the bus or inbetween other mundane activities, sure, but it isn't close to what gaming is to me.

I guess. Most of the more traditional games are just too hampered by the touch-only controls, but there are tons of fun games out there regardless.

I agree. I love my HTC Evo 3D for gaming. It has kept me from getting a 3DS. If not for my phone, I would have gotten the 3DS and be waiting for the Vita, but instead I did get my phone and am only getting the Vita.

Most of the ones i've played are total cash ins with no love in them. A few here and there are good, but no better than a simple flash game.

It has potential to be a legitimate gaming platform. I say potential because for every game that takes advantage of the hardware like Infinity Blade, Game Developer Story,Cut the rope, there are a thousand mediocre shameless ripoffs like izelda and The blocks Cometh How are gamers suppose to treat it as a legitimate platform if developers don't?

You have to give it a chance, a little time. Aiming in FPS's is more accurate than analogue to begin with. There's no shooter on handhelds as solid as Nova 2, Modern Combat 2 or Shadowgun either. Even if there were they would be 10 times more expensive for the same thing.

It's just as easy to get into as console gaming, and some of the games are pretty good, so I'd count it.

I guess so, since I've been playing a ton of arcade classics on it (Splatterhouse, X-Men, Streets of Rage, and Golden Axe). I've played some other games as well, whcih are also good...but I can't get over the touch screen controls (arcade games play fine because of the simple controls, but the more complex games take some serious getting used to).

To me it's the same as browser games. There are some nice games there, but I don't put much focus on either platform. Both browser games and mobile games just serve as nice distraction from time to time.

On generall terms though, everything that has many games on it is a legitimate gaming platform.

Wow. You are out of you mind. I'm not saying ipad is bad for gaming, but saying that a digital analogs is better than an actual analog is just wrong. Resistance for psp and the metroid games on ds are superior than those game you listed. On the ipad you can't even move the reticlue and shoot at hte same time. Plus the games that you listed are such shallow and generic expiriences that they aren't even worth a mention. The games we should be talkign about are games like Sword and Sworcery.

Is it a legitimate form of gaming? Yes. Do I think it's the best experience gaming has to offer? No way.
