Hey, if you're gaming, you're gaming. Doesn't matter if its Counter Strike on a gaming PC, Angry Birds on an iPhone, or Mario on the NES.

It is gaming, if you are playing a videogame. Heck, farmville is technically gaming, and considering how obsessed some people are for it then its like the poor man's WoW in addiction and popularity.

[QUOTE="tomarlyn"][QUOTE="PC360Wii"][QUOTE="tomarlyn"]I didn't until I got my iPad 2, its great for gaming. Definitely rivals handhleds but the games are much cheaper. A lot of people don't take it seriously here though, I used to be like that but playing is believing.

Really... REALLY... if you say so...

There's no shooter on handhelds as solid as Nova 2, Modern Combat 2 or Shadowgun either. Even if there were they would be 10 times more expensive for the same thing.

I like resistance, socom, metal gear, cod, medal of honor all better than those mentioned. But it's not the same thing phone games megabytes and console games are gigabytes which makes longer games.

You're aware that some ios games are over 1 GB, right? Besides if size of data was the determining factor for quality games kz3 would be the best shooter ever created. I agree about ios shooters being better than psp, ds and 3ds offerings at a fraction of the price.

I didn't but vita and 3ds will have 4gb and above games. They are decent for the price but not anything I'm interested in without physical controls.

Decent? They offer single player campaigns on par(in quality, production values and length) with the other handheld games(resistance, syphon filter etc.) and surpass ds/3ds MP features. Controls aren't perfect but none of the handhelds currently out are. Only ps vita is offering controls similar to consoles. The rest are just shoehorning games to fit their limitations.

That's your opinion and I disagree, it's nice having so many ways to game these days.

If they put a game pad on the platform, I'd be a little bit more receptive. I'm not sure if the industry can makes top-tier games and sell them for $10 or less though. Most of the best games on iOS are very late ports from PC or dedicated handhelds.

on a side note: this is a GREAT platform for visual novels like Phoenix Wright, Hotel Dusk, 999 etc. They won't (haven't in Phoenix Wright's case) sell, but I would start gaming on my iPod more often. I gobbled up Pheonix Wright on iOS.

It seems to be doing pretty well. At least well enough for them to keep supporting it with some significant updating.

You have to give it a chance, a little time. Aiming in FPS's is more accurate than analogue to begin with. There's no shooter on handhelds as solid as Nova 2, Modern Combat 2 or Shadowgun either. Even if there were they would be 10 times more expensive for the same thing.

I bought Dungeon Hunter 2 3D (think Diablo 2) and Shadow Guardian 3D (think Uncharted) and when I did, they gave me NOVA free. I like what I have played of it so far. Once I finish it, I intend to buy NOVA 2 3D. Out of what I have, I like Dungeon Hunter 2 that most. I have a level 40 (max is 100) Illusionist, level 15 Bezerker, and a level 6 Rogue that I haven't decided what profession to make him at level 12 yet. So far I have nothing but praise for mobile gaming. I mean all the free games alone make it worth it.

Single player quality is subjective.

The fact that you're even suggesting touch analogue controls are eve comparable to PSP or DS controls is absolutely laughable. MP Hunters had perfect controls, and is on par with Keyboard and Mouse with precision. You can't even shoot and aim at the same time on touch anologue set ups. :|

Unfortunately, the ds and 3ds were never designed to be held in one hand for extended periods of time. I used the face buttons for aiming in hunters because of the hand cramps I'd get after 30+ minutes of play.

You should try Spiderman: Total Mayhem and samurai 2 vengeance for your action game fix. Those $.99 sales should pop up in the next few weeks.

I have a lvl 41 shadowmancer in dh2.

Yes, but most of the great games are just ports of games that are on pc.

Yes, but they're in the same category as flash games to me. But if visual novels/adventure games continue to explode on the platform, I don't think that would matter :o

Nah. I have an iPad and there are some decent games out on iOS, but playing Angry Birds just doesen't feel like gaming to me. The touch screen controls are also really akward.

It's a great platform for gaming, as long as you can adjust to the interface. The RPGs on my phone alone could keep me gaming for a looong time.

Wow. You are out of you mind. I'm not saying ipad is bad for gaming, but saying that a digital analogs is better than an actual analog is just wrong. Resistance for psp and the metroid games on ds are superior than those game you listed. On the ipad you can't even move the reticlue and shoot at hte same time. Plus the games that you listed are such shallow and generic expiriences that they aren't even worth a mention. The games we should be talkign about are games like Sword and Sworcery.

Its not wrong, I've bean playing with analogue since the N64 and although touchscreen isn't as comfortable it is more accurate after practice. I used to think Prime Hunters, COD 4 and Resistance Retribution were the best on handhelds but not anymore. You're right that when shooting on the iPad you must sacrifice something else but you had to do that in Goldeneye and Perfect Dark too. Although in Shadowgun you can actually move, aim and shoot at the same time so hopefully other dev's will follow its example.

Mobile gaming on the level of these games is still very young remember and I completely disagree with your opinion that they aren't worth mentioning because I've been having a blast.

Yeah Mobile devices can put a big dent in your wallet at first, but when you consider the savings you make on games and functionality through apps its well worth it.
