Do you care about Trophies and Achievements?

I have only one Platinum Trophy, which is for Resident Evil 5. I never really bothered to intentionally earn Trophies for any other game, but I've decided to start doing so and am currently working toward earning the Platinum for BF4.

At some point I did, yeah.

I just stopped caring for them. Always the same anyways.

Not really. I only go for those for the purpose of the challenge in games I really, really like. I couldn't care less about my overall achievement or trophy count.

Nope. The only game I thought did them brilliantly was Dead Rising.

i like them i don't hunt for them in every game but I like looking at them and going out of my way for cool ones

It was the first game that gave anyone a reason to go after them all, and made a meaningful addition to the game (i.e. made replaying the game for the achievements was worth the time). Other games have done them well (especially on Steam) but none captured that magic DR had.

I used to, now not so much. In the end most of them just boil down to beating the game on the hardest difficulty and finding all the collectibles, the rest you get along the way. If more games handled them like Dead Rising then I might still be, but the developers seem to lack the imagination to think up cool achievements/trophies.

achievements are basically check points now,

you get one after a level, it sucks....

there was that one in half life 2 episode 2 where you have to drag that gnome around,

or episode one where you have to use only one bullet,

i did that one and didn't get it, fucking rip off

I really could not care less about those things. They have always seemed really meaningless to me.

I care about 360 achievements a little bit. Not enough to 100% games but enough that I enjoy when the notification pops up on screen. Dont give a single shit about crappy trophies after I got screwed out of a few TLOU trophies.

It was be awesome if SONY had some sort of ptactice by which the first player to earn a Platinum Trophy for a Playstation game gets an actual Platinum Trophy shipped to them. That would feel so rewarding and would drive up game sells.

Not even a little. They're a cheap way of trying to add extra life to a game and they're usually shit

Plus sometimes they have them attached to the Multiplayer in a bid to try and force you to try that too which is a load of crap

Im not sure people would purposefully purchase a game they hadnt intended to buy in the vain hope they might be the first person to 100% it...it wouldnt drive up game sales. There is definitely that completion's culture on consoles though so some people might be crazy enough to do it. I never really go out of my way to get them but I do like getting achievements for doing obscure/amusing stuff by accident. With the new gen I might starting making a concious effort to complete more of my games, not sure how long it will last though.

They are harmless. I turned the notification off sometime ago so it makes no difference to me if they are there or not.

Don't Sony send some people a thank you or something like that for egtting platinum trophies in some games?

I've seen people getting thank you or confirmation letters from Sony saying they platinumed TLOU

I like them, but I rarely try for platinum, which works out as I rarely give a damn about multiplayer.

Games could design another mechanism to get me to try odd ball things, ie in game rewards. But they don't always do that, or do it well so trophies fill that void to some extent.

I think they are cool if you are looking for other challenges to complete but I NEVER play through a campaign while hunting for the trophies, to me it takes away from the game

They are neat only for games I really care about, otherwise.... I dont care about them.

I only have one Platinum, and only a hand full of games over 50%, most are just like 0%-10%. Alot of them are ridiculous tho...

I have one complete game for 360, no platinum trophies. I kind of try to get a hard sought achieve, like crowned in L4D, but other than that not too much.

No I don't care about crap like that and actually find it weird that people do, but whatever.

Well, I certainly don't complain about Wii games not having them. Some of them were fun to get though. I do enjoy unlocking stuff, so I do sometimes have an urge to unlock them.

Not really. If I'm done with the campaign then I may try to get some trophies.

I don't take any notice of them, except when I played Demon's Souls, it was so addictive that I ended up getting Platinum because I was going through the game multiple times anyway, and it was fun to collect them along the way. Then I did the same with Dark Souls.

I might do it again with some other games in the future if I feel like it. Definitely Souls games or if there's something very similar.

Yeah, only on PS though. I think they're handled better in that ecosystem.

Only got it in one game WWE 2K14. I don't actively go out of my way to platinum a game. I just play until i am done with the game

There ok. I don't go out of my way to 100 percent a game hence the reason why I have no platinum's and mostly bronze and silver with a few gold.

They were dumb shit, or clever shit. Like the type of stuff you get for doing something different or wreckless in a game.

Not 100 headshots, beat the game on hard, you know play through this campaign and choose ending A and B. Crackdown had some really good achievements as well.

No. I do think they are legitimately cool, and I did go for them when I first got my 360, but I lost interest. I still like seeing a collection of games tied to a profile, which is really the best thing that came from the achievement system.

I don't intentionally go out of my way to earn trophies... If I earn one then that's cool.

I had to start over with achievements on X box One because I used an old email address on the 360 that I cannot access anymore. Myself and 2 of my friends had this same issue and all had to create new gamer tags. So I guess I am more into trophies now. I like that I can download PS+ games for free on vita and PS3 and work on the trophy count. Let's hope the PS4 list of ps+ titles picks up so I can work on those too. Then again, I guess I own all of the worth while PS4 games.

Nah. I became a trophy whore a couple of months back and got three platinums but when felt disappointment instead of satisfaction when I beat all of Quantum Conundrum's scores thinking I would get a trophy when I didn't, I knew that's when I had to quit. Now I never check trophy lists and all my recent games are at sub-30% trophy number and I don't care.

Also I actively hate people who buy shit games for "muh gamerscore." If MS and Sony announced tomorrow they were ditching cheevos and trophies I'd probably be very happy.
