Do you consider 2018 a let down?

I was excited for 2018 until E3 came by, and pretty much confirmed that 2019 will be much better. There are still some good games left, including Red Dead Redemption 2. Do you think that's enough to keep 2018 from being a stinker, SW? Or do you think 2018 is still pretty good?

Still good.

Yakuza Kiwami2, Fist Of The North Star and Spiderman are still to come.

I gave up on RDR2, will get it when it comes out as complete for 40 bucks.

2017 was so good that makes 2018 seem somewhat lame.

I'm actually thinking about canceling my preorder. It really annoyed me that they put exclusive content behind a pay wall.

I wouldn't say the possibility of a greater 2019 takes anything away from 2018. 2018 has been a great year so far. Dragonball FighterZ, MHW, SOTC, Warhammer Vermintide 2, Ni No Kuni 2 (which I just popped in), FC5, GoW, Detroit: Become Human are all some of the stand-out titles for me and thats only what's been released.

This is the same as BLOPS4. I didn't expect R* of all people to do that. I can unerstand online trash stuff, but story? Huge pass.

While 2019 is looking fantastic I still think that 2018 has/will be pretty great as well. Some games that have come out or will come out this year that make it great for me are:

- Dragon Ball FighterZ

- Monster Hunter World

- Soul Calibur VI

- Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection

- Mega Man X Legacy Collection

- Octopath Traveller

- Forza Horizon 4

- Blazblue Cross Tag Battle

- Red Dead Redemption 2

- Fallout 76

- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

While the end of 2018 looks still pretty okay, Most of it has been pushed to January 2019, which I'm okay with.

It's definitely nowhere near as great as 2017, but I wouldn't call it a stinker either. There are still a few games that I'm looking forward to this year like Red Dead Redemption 2, Super Mario Party, and Super Smash Bros.

  • Yakuza 6
  • Sonic Mania Plus
  • Mega Man X Collection
  • Yakuza Kiwami 2
  • Valkyria Chronicles 4
  • Fist of the North Star
  • Mega Man 11
  • Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon
  • Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
  • Shenmue I & II

  • Spider-Man
  • Code Vein
  • Soul Calibur VI

2018 still has a lot of great games I want. Most of them on the Switch.

I cancelled the RDR2 preorder after I saw they were holding missions hostage behind the special editions. Plus Im tired of seeing almost every game on download stores having three versions. I'll wait until it goes on sale.

A bit, thanks to Nintendo.

I wanted to see a Pikmin 4, a new Animal Crossing, a new F-Zero, Retro Studios' new project or anything new really. And we got Smash. Just Smash. Their E3 could not be more lame.

I'll have fun. I'll play these at some point.

  • God of War
  • Detroit Become Human
  • Spider-Man
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Yakuza Kiwami 2
  • Yakuza 6
  • Shadow of the Colossus

Not sure what else yet , but finding great/good games shouldn't be a problem.

With dragonball FighterZ and God of war 2018 was amazing for those 2 games alone.

We had Street Fighter 5 arcade edition free update that made SF5 what should have been in release.

We gonna have Spiderman which looks nuts for superhero fans, Monster Hunter World delivered and then we getting great games like Tomb Raider, Smash ( or not in 2018? ) etc.

Not bad at all if you ask me.

Nah I wouldn't say so. I've played some pretty interesting games so far this year and there is even more to come. I wouldn't say there is any game that hasn't met my expectation, and there has even been a few surprises too. So far so good. :)

God of War is one of the best games of this generation and an instant classic. It lived up to the hype and surpassed it.

It is a shining example of how a reboot of a franchise should be done.

So for me, 2018 has been awesome.

God of War (one of the best games of the generation), Shadow of the Colossus remake, Monster Hunter World, Ni No Kuni 2, Moss, Yakuza 6, Detroit Become Human. It's been a pretty strong year on PS4. Pretty sleepy year on Switch and Xbox One. PC also has a number of good but relatively obscure games.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Spider-man, and Red Dead Redemption 2 should help end the year strong (once again, mostly for PS4).

A little bit. I think (cant remember for certain) the only 2018 game I have bought so far is God of War. I've also tried State of Decay 2 and Sea of Thieves via games pass (played each twice). I think from a price perspective, I'm just not as willing to spend $79.99 CDN a game unless I feel its a must play. 2019 already looks more promising with Anthem, Division 2, RE2, Metro, and Rage 2.

The only other game I plan on paying full price for this year is Battlefield V, and even then, its actually 10-20% off through EA Access and some other promo within Battlefield 1.

Yup pretty much this. This definitely wasn't a weak year imo with all of those releases and we get Red Dead Redemption 2 and Dragon Quest X1 too

I game far less than I used to, but it's been excellent so far. It's no 2017, but I already have one of my favourites this year in GoW.

I kind of agree that the first half of the year was kinda slow besides God of War and FighterZ , but theres still 2 blockbuster fighting games coming out, the return of possibly the biggest JRPG franchise of all time to home console in the west, and a huge open world game.

- Smash Bros and Soul Calibur are my two top favorite fighting games of all time and my friends love them as well , infinite replayability and they both have their newest renditions coming out this fall (Smash Bros Ultimate and Soul Calibur VI)

- FighterZ was an unexpectedly great fighting game that recaptures the essence of yet another game I loved from childhood , Marvel vs Capcom 2

- God of War was incredible , Detroit BH was good imo,

- Dragon Quest 11 is the first console Dragon Quest game to come out in the west since Dragon Quest 8 did all the way back in 2004 (freaking 14 years ago!!). If this does well it will be huge for JRPG fans in the west. AND it comes out a lot sooner than I thought it would.

- Red Dead Redemption II has been highly anticipated for a very long time

- Lot of other games that I'm personally interested in like Crash N Sane on Switch, FighterZ on Switch, Octopath Traveler, MegaMan X Collection , Valkyria Chronicles 4, My Hero Ones Justice, Shenmue 1+2 (never played them), DLC for Xenoblade 2 . There's literally over 10 games I'm highly interested in that come out between July and the end of this year even though I'd totally be satisfied by just the 3 fighting games , GoW and DQ 11.

* And dont forget just around the corner in January 2019, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3 are bombshells.

Things are always getting better...mostly. I think games are, at least. The trends that alleged-AAA developer-publishers seem to think we want to see occur? Not so much.

But no, 2018 has been great and will continue to be great. 2019, hopefully better. VR, I think, is here to stay and 2018 has been a great year for VR games. The independent developers "movement" (ugh, hate using that...) is as strong as ever, taking more and more market share away from the big publishers, which is a great thing. We are finally starting to see more and more "AAA" indie games, which is great.

Its still quite amazing. This year game time easily eclipse last year, last year was phenomenal for me as my top 3 2017 games; nier automata, persona 5 & yakuza 0 releases in close proximity but this year I have Monster hunter World (which I took my sweet 400hours to platinum), god of war, detroid become human and far cry 5.

All very, very good games

Are you kidding me? With the amount of amazing indie titles coming out this year, it is far from a let down. Hell, most of the games on this list are probably contenders for GOTY.
